This is a deep dive into Norman Finkelstein's magnum opus Gaza: An Inquest into its Martyrdom. TO our knowledge, there was no in-depth video analysis of his book before. We asked Finkelstein about the making of the title of the book, especially the word Martyrdom. We discussed the question of agency when it comes to the Palestinian resistance movement, and how that squares with his all-out call for non-violence in his book. Finkelstein said he has changed his views since he wrote his book on the question of violence/non-violence. We have gone into great detail to discuss the Israeli atrocities that Finkelstein documents assiduously in his book. We have also spent considerable time discussing Finkelstein's indictment of human rights reports for taking sides with Israel. Throughout the interview, Finkelstein has placed the context of his book side by side with what has happened since he wrote his book.

Guys, we want to work full-time on this, but our financial woes keep us pushing away. If your wallet allows please drop us some support. We prefer the PayPal method since we don't lose half of the money, but you can also give us a super chat. If you are a large donor, we would obviously get in touch with you to give something back if we can. But if you can't no worries. Please like, share, and subscribe. That means a lot already
Norman keeps claiming his parents are survivors and weaponizing it yet there is zero video dna or forensic evidence to be back his claim. . Show us some actual evidence Norman keep it to yourself if you can't prove your claims.

Get out of this poisonous ideology called Zionism!
Mr Finkelstein is true treasure to humanity. Fascinating courageous ethical humble human
The guy who voiced his support for carpet bombing cities in the name of revenge even if there is no military value for it?
A moron

I could listen to Prof Finkelstein for days. He is so eloquent, resourceful, and honest. Thank you for bringing him up.
Undoubtedly, one of the most precious man of our time . The beacon in the darkness, great scholar and a deeply human person.
100% ❤
I just finished the book this morning. Some of the details were difficult to finish - the impulse to look away came more than once. But I want to read this and know it for the people and to know that Norm is not the only one who looks. “Martyrdom” is correct according to the case he makes - it’s a moral look at what is left for people who have no other way to remain human. The book reaches a crescendo at the latter third - the disgust and outrage is visceral.
An elegant & persuasive bk review. Thank u!
Thank you Dr. Finkelstein! You are a lighthouse in the dark! 👍
Loved the interview! You were much better prepared than many I've heard interviewing Professor Finkelstein. He is a brilliant and inspiring historian. There is no one within MSM who could share a stage with him in a debate about Gaza.
Norman Finkelstein is the greatest, never disappoints.
Thank you, Norman Finkelstein, for your brave academic fact finding
Excellent discussion, always great to hear from Norman and see him have room to expand on his ideas.
I learn a lot from Dr Norman Finkelstein. He tells true facts. Another person is Noam Chomsky. They know a lot, I know very little. That's why I listen to them every chance I get.
Me too. To learn it is wise to acknowledge we don't have all the facts, and have the humility to defer to those who do 😊
I bought it in April May, It is a long book but worth reading, I read a little every day. To be honest One must read 3 to 4 times any book. Deep respect for Professor Norman Finkelstein! Thank you
What is the book called please
You look exhausted Dr.Finkelstein. Thank you for all of your effort!
He looks fine. Bad lighting.
He has been conducting a ton of interviews that is insane!
Like the Grayzone and and most of us. But no stopping us.
Brilliant discussion. Dr finklestein is such a gem
Amazing book and describe the situation in Gaza and I say it as Gazan... definitely I recommend reading it
Nobody else will ever do what you've done professor. That's why you are an international treasure.
International treasure indeed. Well said
What a wonderful guest. Thank You!
Prof is such a great man. Love him for his honesty and strength. God bless him with more strength
Excellent interview and excellent legendary Norman Finkelstein .
MR. FINKELSTEIN! YOU ARE THE VOICE OF COURAGE, INTELLECTUALISM, FAIRNESS AND HUMANENESS! I DEEPLY APPRECIATE ALL WHAT YOU SAY, IN MY NAME!❤
Easily one of the very best interviews of Dr. Finkelstein. The main reason I decided to make a donation to this channel.
PS. I particularly appreciated the degree of mutual respect between interviewer and interviewee: the former by studying the subject in critical depth, the latter by avoiding generational condescensions and engaging seriously with his interlocutor. Many thanks to both for an object lesson.
By the way, I hope you may become familiar with Joe Sacco's two graphic documentaries on Palestine and Gaza.
Thank You
Thank you Norman Finkelstein for your valuable contribution and compromise.
I would just like to wholeheartedly agree that the work Professor Finklestein is unique and invaluable. He articulates arguments that no other defender of the Palestinians ever got close to being able to articulate so clearly and irrefutably.
Love the interviewer too. It is rare to see someone who respects the person he is interviewing and but still offers some appropriate comments and questions without over doing it.
Excellent job, sir
Thank you Jennifer, Stay in touch.
❤❤❤ Norm Finkelstein. Can listen to you all day 🤗
Great scholar always interesting to hear from Norman Finkestein,
He’s a legendary heroic man with incredible abilities and knowledge! 🙇
Thank you, I will read it.
Be prepared because you will come out of it in the end a totally changed person
@@TruthHurtsbtheals100 I don't think so. You suggest I'm an ignorant person? How do you know me?

@@jontraz5993 Thank you. It's ok.
A great interviewer and a great guest! Thanks!!
Thank you very much for this great man's words. He spoke to his naivete as to his favour for nonviolent civil disobedience. As I see it, love then caused him, from moral authority based in the universalism of Love, to throw condemnation from Love itself at the pure evil that accomplished the lunacy of genocide on his own people, just as the now misled of his people follow in those evil footsteps. All heaven in rage, as Blake put it. And steadfast in Love is a great man, and Dr. Finkelstein is the greatest of men since Dr. King.
Great interview! Norman is always a pleasure to listen to and one always learns something new.
Undoubtedly, one of the heroes of our time!
@@OlympicandTitanicspeaking the truth is heroic - many just give up
Free Palestine! Such a great and a little different interview with the great Norman Finkelstein ❤️
Thank you for this interview and for having read Dr. Finkelstein’s book “Gaza” before the discussion. It was a very productive discussion and I learned so much more
about the contents of the book that make me want to have this important, historical work even more.
@@OlympicandTitanicyou seem to have a very limited vocabulary
At the 4-minute mark, Finkelstein notes that he is not trying to commercially exploit his knowledge and analysis of the experience in the east Mediterranean Levant, but to document the facts and common experiences therein. Down with simply buying and selling stuff, up with enriching the human experience with inter subjective reality and thus truth…
I read it. Not all the reference material, but the book and all the footnotes, and the appendix. Worth every word.
Great job! 👍👍👍
Long and strong live Palestine! ✌💯

Does Ben Gurion's concern about Arabs accepting a jewish state in their midst reflect the Arab concern or Ben Gurion's?
At this point in my life, I have to read the simplest arguments and essays three times, so I am always grateful for the elucidation provided in Finkelstein interviews.
the sleight of hand was conflating the white european settler colonial project of zionist israel with the general abstracted notion of a "jewish state". a more accurate statement would be "no people anywhere will accept a bunch of murderous marauding interlopers killing them and stealing their land and persecuting them on the basis of a racial supremacist ideology, and their neighbors probably wont like it either, particularly when said ideology dehumanizes them as well"
Stunning!
I pray for Professor Finkelstein to get well soon. It seems he is very ill. Wish him all the best and fast recovery.
Read Shlomo Sand: THE INVENTION OF THE LAND ISRAEL. This is a scientific masterpiece. It takes some time to digest and it gives you in-depth knowledge.
Thanks for this….
@@lisabahouth8893 You're welcome Lisa. I have a list that I read and Shlomo in my view is the best. I send you the list and also a good list of analists. I fight for Palestine and the Palestinian People. Analists:
Ralph Wilde - Scott Ritter - Larry Johnson - Douglas MacGregor - Jeffrey Sachs - Rami Khouri - Colin Clark - Ilan Pappe - John Measrheimer - Larry Johnson - Norman Finkelstein - Col. Lawrence Wilkerson - Richard Wolff - Theodore Postol. Good historic books: Jimmy Carter: Palestine, Peace not Apartheid; Shlomo Sand: The Invention of The Jewish People, How I Stopped Being a Jew, and The Invention of the Land of Israel; Rashid Khalidi: The Hundred Year's War on Palestine; Yahya Sinwar, The Thorn and The Carnation; Ilan Pappe: The History of Modern Palestine; Dries van Agt: Palestine in Agony, and also A Cry for Justice. I also know the Bible from A to Z, but that's not a history book, no science book no law book, just a religious book written by the jews themselves. God did not speak to Moses or Abraham. Religious nonsense.
What do you mean scientific masterpiece?
Shlomo Sand is a zionist, if I remember correctly. I remember being surprised when I read about his views about that.
I look forward to reading this book. Thank you Professor Finkelstein!
It needs courage, sharp intellectual abilities, and iron discipline to put together this book and keep loyal to truth and justice .. All best Professor

I love and respect Norman Finkelstein so so much. I think he is an incredible scholar. I don't know how many people like him come out of universities anymore. I hope there is some
but today he gave me the biggest biggest laugh and this is not a topic upon which you would get a laugh
but when he says "oh I've got to be careful I'm speaking too fast".

You're welcome! Subscribed now officially. Perks are fine but just want to support you all. Also just want to also say that aside from talks with well known guests like Finkelstein, Chris Hedges, and Max Blumenthal I have appreciated and think posts like your special post that was in doc form which broke down US dollar within the global economy are so useful in educating people (like myself) for whom those subjects, analyses and syntheses are a challenge to digest. Super important for educating people so we can begin to move towards action. Anyway, thank you again for what you do!
I love this man, he is the best human being on earth. I will buy his book. Thank you for having him on your show❤
this guy is a legend thank you for researching the details
Good video thanks .
I think at 1:16:00 Francesca Albanese's remarks on the law are worth incorporating. The discussion at this point is Israel's legal right to self defence.
Finkelstein distinguishes between Israel's legal and morl right to self defence. I think the block on Israels Gaza assault can be achieved without this distinction, i.e. remaining within the bounds of legal provisions, if we follow Albanese's analysis
Alabanese says that Israel had a right to stop the attacks on its own soil. However, because of the context of the occupation and settlements, Israel did not have the right to "wage war against Hamas in Gaza".
She says that "self-defence" is a term of art in international law which extends to waging war against the attacker even after the imminent threat abates.
In this sense of self defence, Israel had no legal right of self defence, she says.

I absolutely love listening to Norman. What a great man ❤
Norman, please do not say “the Devil is in the details” when it comes to your meticulous work on this book, instead, please say “God is in the details “ and thank you for all your work on this great cause. 💕
Well put, but it's ONLY an expression, NOT some kind of religious dogma.
Granted, God knows the details and wants them to get OUT. Few, such as our friend Mr. Finkelstein have done such a wonderful job of uncovering, chronicling preserving those details for those who may, eventually, wake up.
well, the details in this case are all about israel and its manifold crimes, so while i get what youre saying, i think in this case that "devil" is actually rather apropos
Great work guys, keep it coming!
The Palestinians truly are God’s chosen people, no other people in the world have been this openly and blatantly targeted by the one group that you cannot criticize no matter what because “that group has been oppressed for no reason at all for thousands of years”. The Palestinians are unique in the strength and resolve they have shown in resisting those who you are not allowed to criticize. The Gazan martyrs cannot die in vain, the world needs to see the truth for what it is. The world needs to see what the “number one victim group” is really all about. The self described greatest victims were always the greatest perps. Approximately 100 years ago the bolsheviks genocided over 20 million ethnic Ukrainians because of racial hatred. The primary method, starvation, was the exact same as it is now. 85% of the bolsheviks were from the victim group despite the victim group accounting for only 3-4% of the overall population. One example is Lazar Kagnovich, who was the top Holodomr advisor to Joseph Stalin.

Every time I listen to Prof. Norman FINKLESTEIN I am lifted to accept more of reality of the horrors of the imperialists and how few of the blackmail scenes by SHIN BETT get exposed and prosecuted.
Thanks!
Thanks Jessica, means a lot. Stay in touch. Solidarity
To an extent - certainly not comparable to Norman's - I empathize with the effort to create and structure an argument from "reports" (discovery/ opposition briefs/ judicial precedent}. I likened the process to conception then gestation then birth. This was pre-internet so all documents and cases were hard copy and books -. no PC - no spell check - hand write then dictate then edit - edit - edit for consistency - word choice - sentence structure - each fact supported with reference to addenda and the process consuming every waking moment. Fortunately, briefs had page limits and filing deadlines - then on to the next case. What Norman has accomplished is a tour de force that places him with the greats of history. I hope he will allow himself rest and rejuvenation. Bless you Norman - you truly are a beacon of light for truth and justice.
Thank you
What a treat.
Goldstone: why blackmail? Modsad us very good at assassinations that appear tpo be accidents or muggings.
911
There is a possibility that Goldstone was always meant to 'recant'. Goldstone was possibly always their man.
because if they killed him he wouldnt be able to recant the story? because their entire motive was based on public perception, and that would have actually been worse than just doing nothing? lol
👍

A man for this time.
Professor Finkelstein is asking about the reason led judge Goldstone to change his mind about the report.
The answer is that, this was because of him got furious and felt betrayed by the corrupted Mahmoud Abbas who withdrawn the report from being applied to the Geneva human rights counsel.
The fact checking is exhausting wow just wow
