I am fucking always here for new video content of Gavin Harrison.
Top man Tyler
yesssss
his drums ALWAYS sound perfect... his playing too
What make does he use ??
Yeah! Exactly!
@@alfiesmith6662 Sonor
Sonor, Remo, tuning, miking...
Sonor is amazing. I've never seen a bad sounding kit from them.
Love how Gavin always incorporates toms as a normal part of drum grooves
That's exactly what drew me to his unreal playing. I've always loved the idea of using the whole kit musically 👍🥁🥁🥁
Exactly! You've got them sitting there all the time! Use them. It can so often sound so great, and there's no rules in art, so come on.
he is my favorite drummer for almost 20 years. Love his sound, the details.
Each gavin Harrison video should be considered as one of the wonders of the world.
I've never seen a drummer make it look that easy in my life. The look on his face while he is playing looks like he's thinking about mowing the grass when he gets home or what he has to get from the supermarket on the way home.
what’s funny is where your seeing him *is his home lol. gaving from what I heard found a suburban home with room with high sealings and great acoustics so he made it a drum studio!
see, that's one of my top gripes about Gavin.
watch some Billy Cobham in Mahavishnu O on YT.
DRUMS ARE A VIOLENT INSTRUMENT.
When someone plays it like they're a receptionist in a dentist's office, it breaks my heart!
Like Gavin has NO FIRE in him whatsoever.
@@professorcranium4792 Oh I get it now, you're that guy, Dumpy Goodness, who keeps accusing me of "avoiding the argument" or being "either or" and yet doing the same? It's up to you how the instrument is played. Masterful playing isn't just about violence, and certainly, violence CAN be excluded from drumming.
It's about opinion, not you.
@@warrenoids PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW VIOLENCE CAN BE EXCLUDED FROM DRUMMING.
Name just ONE drummer who NEVER hits his drums or cymbals!
("Hitting things is NOT a violent act"! Um, it's ALWAYS a violent act. Even a light smack = violence!)
In my first band, I got two big Body Massagers and had my drummer use them on the skins, and i'd say that VIBRATION (which would make the drum HUM!) does NOT count as violence. (Or you could argue it's VERY agressive micro-shoving back and forth, ha ha.)
Now I'm wondering if you're a Policeman, because this is the first time in my life I saw a human say "hitting something isn't violence!"
"Yeah i punched my wife in the face 20 times when I was drunk...but that wasn't VIOLENCE!"
(Or...."Okay, hitting a drum or cymbal is violence....but drumming doesn't mean you're REPEATEDLY hitting drums or cymbals!")
@@professorcranium4792 So you're meaning to say that petting your animal is an act of violence? Now I truly see what kind of person you are.
The fill at 1:49 was freaking awesome... It hit the spot for me...
I love Gavin because he understands that drums are a supporting instrument in music. That's why he is a musician not just a drummer. I so tired of watching drum videos were is just a display of chops with no musical context. Keep it up.
Gavin is an extremely intelligent and gifted drummer! His sound and performance are always spot on! As technical as he is, his feel is always musical and tasteful! There really isn't anyone else that sounds like him period!..entirely in a class of his own! Good job Gavin, you're one heck of an inspirationto u s all! The Zildjian's sound "Sweet" indeed!
I think he's TOO tasteful. (Drummers need MORE ENERGY and FIRE than GH's too-polite drumming. I love when GH gets clever and tasteful, but too often he seems to be phoning it in rather than PUSHING HIMSELF, like a Billy Cobham would do.)
@@dumpygoodness4086 A lesson learned is that drummers sound better when they hold back a bit. Pushing the threshold has it's place but not condusive when serving the song. You are entitled to your opinion, obviously, but I cannot fault Gavin in any manner. I'm simply humbled by the genius he is.
@@JanPatrickLucas you're talking about in Mild Mid-Tempo POP music.
MY POINT is that I'd love to see GH apply himself to a project where he PUSHES HIMSELF and is more clever and less conventional.
There's a billion DELICIOUS drummers already out there.
Listen to "Long Distance Runaround" by YES, and tell me why Bruford's aggressive drums lack taste.
...because your argument seems like you're saying "no one wants a CREATIVE drummer behind a Bryan Adams song. It wouldn't fit".
@@dumpygoodness4086 the one thing Gavin‘s drumming is not, is being conventional. And if you want to see him go for it, watch some of his Porcupine Tree Live Performances, for example Hate Song or Anesthetize.
Not only is his drumming extremely tasteful but also brilliantly balanced, in my opinion. Obviously, the drumming in LDR is also tasteful, but the nuances Gavin webs into his playing are a whole different story in my opinion.
This gives me some serious Tool vibes. The first guitar solo at the 2 minute mark, the vocals, the 2:55 accent and the badass guitar riffs.
I know this is about cymbals, but damn, dat snare tone🤤
engineered by Gavin himself :)
Gavin would drum the phone book and people would stop and listen.
Sonor Protean signature snare ...
Absolute Perfection, perfect playing, perfect drum sound.
Always loved Gavin's accuracy and tasteful playing.
that 11" crash bell :D
What about it.
@@behindthen0thing DING!!
Ha... I thought the same thing.
Wonder if it will ever be publicly released
This showcased the cymbals very well. Gavin has his tones down to a tee, and his drums and cymbals always sound spot on. Plus, that drum part was killer!
Not only could I listen to Gavin play drums for hours...I could listen to Gavin talk about playing drums for hours. The dude is so eloquent in speech and playing
Oh man it's like K's and A's had a baby- I love the sound!
How can somebody dislike Gavins playing? Its perfect in any sense.
This is huge... Gavin knows perfectly how to nail it... And I love the sound of these "K Sweet series"... Thanks for sharing...
His exquisite timing; sublime fills and phenomenal rhythm - it's the definition of pure joy to watch this man play!
Right on!!👍🥁
Yep! I’m sold on the sweet ride! What an incredible way to advertise that line of cymbals! Thanks Gavin.
Never a dull moment when thou hath gavin harrison driving the beat
As I thought I had seen every trick in his sleeves... Man, this is one of the most refreshing GH videos in a while. Master keeps on doing his thing 🥁👌
Consistently brilliant, highest order drumming. Although this track is from their most recent release, “Versions Of The Truth”, I saw TPT live at the CroFoot Ballroom in Pontiac MI on November 30, 2019 in support of the “Dissolution” LP. The performance was absolutely stellar. Harrison was on fire. Bravo.
I've never witnessed anyone like Gavin Harrison. His timing is always spot on, he's very creative in music, knows his instruments and music like no other. I mean, all drummers have their own style, but Gavin Harrison can go beyond most within the halls of music.
When I first saw him play on UA-cam, it was like the day I witnessed Neal Peart of Rush. Gavin blew my mind with his talent, timing and creativeness to even exceed that of Neal and I've been doing my best to watch Gavin's performances ever since.
I love the way Gavin can improve and improvise while drumming to fill in more gaps and make it even better and more tasteful than anyone I've ever seen in my life.
Thank you Gavin Harrison for coming into our lives, being a powerful inspiration to others in the field of music and my hope is that one day I can see you in a concert performance with the other greats you perform with. You are excellent with The Porcupine Tree and The Pineapple Thief. Which is all I know you're in. I haven't looked it up yet on what other projects you're into, but I plan on it in time.
Thank you again for your hard work, Mr Harrison. ✌️&❤️ To you and yours, always.
Incredible audio, and as usual a transcendent performance by Mr. Harrison. Absolutely top of the game.
SUCH A GREAT PERFORMANCE FROM GAVIN ......TIMELESSLY CLASSIC AS ALWAYS .......A MASTER DEFINING HIS CREATIVE AWESOMENESS ON AN AMAZING SET OF BEAUTIFUL SOUNDING INSTRUMENTS !!!! :)
High class cymbals and drummer Mr.Gavin Harrison 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Came here for the cymbals, but man, those drums sound KILLER !!
Always incredible!
Holy mother of dog! Gavins playing is so inspiring!
This guy’s the real deal. Amazing every time. Cymbals sounds amazing too, just got my first set of K sweets and the sound is incredible.
Those hats sound great! Love the ride too. Nice and crisp

Gavin Harrison is an absolute master! I’m pretty sure he could make play on anything and make it sound awesome! These K Sweet cymbals sound great!
Never any wasted space in his riffs.
love the final stroke with right hand!
Perfect drum sound, as always! Go Gaviiin
Smooth as butter.
Absolutely love the K's
My kind of jam!!!! Nice Gavin!
I purchased a 19" K Sweet Crash thanks to this video, it sounds impeccable.
Sick performance -that bridge/fill was killer. Love the 12" china. All the (s)K's sounded superb.
Phenomenal drummer absolutely rock solid
Great bell sound on that 21" Sweet Ride
As usual “ perfection”
Rock solid effortless drumming once again!
a sweet sound
Κ sweet sound 😜
@@z..k Klever...right you are lol.
In my top three favorite drummers!
Pretty sweet performance.
Gavin has become one of my favorites. From his amazing abilities with his playing to the sound of his drum set! This guy is phenomenal! Always click on new content, and am never disappointed!
Being a drummer myself for 40+ years, I have grown to like certain drummers, from Vinnie to Marco to Dave to Virgil. But Gavin shot up REAL QUICK when I discovered him a while back as one of my all-time faves! My favorites are (in no particular order): Steve Smith, Vinnie Colaiuta, Virgil Donati, Dave Weckl, Tony Williams, Billy Cobham, Marco Minnemann and of course, Gavin!!! Love this guy's style and incredible playing! And being one of the drummers for King Crimson ain't a bad thing either!
Agree with you but what about Mike Mangini not being on the list??
Amazing !
Legend is here !!! Yow Mr. gavin 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Damn......those fills!👌
I was thinking about buyin a 17" Sweet Crash... Now I know I'm gonna do it!
Did it make you play like this? :DDD
This was incredible 🙌
The Master! The Magician! 🙂😌🌺🙏🙌😌🙂 You are an Inspiration to Us Sir! 🙂😌🌺🙏🙌😌🙂
Had to watch twice, first was to rock out and the second actually listen to the cymbals ( proud owner of the 16 inch sweet crash 🤗)
That drum Sounds Amazing !
But of course, it's Gavin afterall
God those toms sound amazing
The amazing Gavin strikes again!! The video is a bit unsynchronized with the sound but it doesn't matter!! Gavin is always enjoyable!!!
Just the perfect amount of reverb.
Gavin harrison for life ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏
Easily the best sounding drums I've ever heard.
Why would someone dislike this? Must have been drunk and missed the thumb up 😂
Probably Neal Peart “dolts” whose lack of critical thinking capability results in an irresistible sudden fit of denial of “observable truth”...
Why do you care
Guess they wanted to "break it all"
I think I’m going for that 21 ride... Also love Gavin performance ..
Awesome
I need to dig into pineapple thief more
Gavin Harrison = Perfect
This is just too good for the universe.
Brilliant 🍻 full stop
Es un estilo tan particular y ni hablar del sonido de los Zildjian... sensacionales.
WE WANT MORE GAVIN! :)
01:50 - 02:25 such a porcupine tree moment
Exactly the sound that draws me to this style of music.
that section Sounds more like OSI than Porcupine Tree
I was thinking the same thing engin
Gavin Harrison!
Props to the tech making this kit sound unbelievable. That snare tho. Those rimshots...
The tech is Gavin himself.
Wao , thank you
wow i need that crash bell in my life
Gavin is a stud!!!! I love my 15 k sweets and especially my 21 k sweet ride I put 3 rivits in🤘
Killer fill at 3.18!!!
Definitely my new favorite drummer! A lot different from Benny Greb, who had been my favorite up til now. I’ve never seen a drummer so unconventional but still within a rock song. So awesome!
im a simple man . gavin plays drums . i sit and listen
I like Gavin Harrison drumming style, and Bobby Jarzombek as well. Amazing drummers!
Gavin = you got my attention
Wild not hearing that dark complex ride. Really digging that sweet ride
Kudos to the engineer, this sounds awesome
Gavin usually records and mixes his Drums himself. This definitely sounds like it, no one else can mix his drums so intentional.
Great Nice DRUMS Sound ... ... ... 💘💖💘😎
The best
Best money I’ve ever spent. K Sweet pack.
The most complete drummer.
Pretty good! Like... At all! 🤘😎🤘
that toms... oh my god
still love your drumming!!
I keep having this dream where Gavin joins up with Lee and Lifeson to do a solo songs tour. Gavin is unique, but his method and quality is right up there with Peart's.
dream theater , this is absolute drummer for you
Love his drum sound! The Sweets are my favorite cymbals by far. I have all the crashes.
Oh, so YOU'RE the one who has all the crashes!! Did you save any for the rest of us ?? 😆
Well… sorry but no. Would that I could play like you though. Then I too could make a video!
@@jgdevoe Ha! The joke's on you, my friend. I sold my drums about 30 years ago. Decided to settle down and start a family instead of pursue a music career. Although I miss playing, I don't regret it.
Best wishes to you, Joe.
I want those cup chime bells :p
Gavin Harrison is the god of drums.
They look light to play
I wish, Gavin'll take drum videos of all album.
sweeeet!!
