Meet OLA! Our gorgeous new horse!! it was a snap decision but me & charlotte bought Ola! yes another horse 😀 we just had to guys! watch this and you will soon understand why!
Steve, i so enjoy watching and learning from you. I am a 70 yr old lady who crushed 3 vertebrae‘s 15 yrs ago. I haven’t ridden in as long. I grew up a champion skater but switched to horses at 35 when my husband bough a little ranch in California , i was so in love with these big beauties. I went to work volunteering my time for a world champion horsewoman that lived down the road. I cleaned stalls, brushed, bathed,,, helping where needed in exchange for lessons. I also volunteered at the local Vet so i could learn about how to take care of them as i somehow now had 6 horses in my barn . I fast brave learner and within a year i was riding hunter jumper at b rated horse shows and WINNING! At home i was jumping 4 ft. I had a full barn, boarders, and i was giving lessons to beginner riders>. I seamed to have the ability to spot good horses that looked really bad and buying them for (free sometimes) small amount of money ($100-$1000) , put a little TLC into them and sell them for lol even showing for $3000 to $5000 and after a few years (2) started to be able to spot the higher level horses selling them for $25,000-$30,000. I was THE person in the county to call if you wanted to find ANYTHING horse related..i seemed to know everybody and everything for sale. I was by then, my 3rd year, judging local horse shows, working up to and including including 3 day eventing…i even started judging for the Quarter horse association. I got to judge at Del Mar where these horses sold for a million dollars!!!! I was also a Co-host on a local TV show , where, walking across the street my heel got caught in a crevice in the street and i went flying. My life would never be the same. I crushed 3 vertebrae‘s in my lower back and live in pain. I moved to Laguna Beach (Southern California) and out of the horse world..all in 6 yrs. So now my husband has died and i have moved back to Clovis (Fresno area in Central California) but it has brought back all those wonderful memories. I am so lonely without these loves in my life, so i watch you. i now live with my children. My grandson has a new girlfriend who has recently bought a new horse. My grandchildren are too young to have this memory of their grandma on horses…so i ride along and give small suggestions and wish i could ride again. But the up down movement would be too painful…so i dream of the good old days and cry because i miss that feeling of riding up to that jump, going over and cantering off…better than any drug for sure lol. I live through you telling me what you are doing. Thank you.
Lady James I have almost the identical life story. It's awful being trapped in pain, and not being able to use muscles and have your body free to move as you want it to. So I too live vicariously through videos now. Steve and family are awesome as well as others. Maybe in the next life we'll be able to carry on our love of Equus. There's nothing like living and riding between the worlds!!! Be blessed 🌹
Lady James, I so admire you My recently late Arabian and love of my life was reduced to a pasture horse on my large Fallbrook CA property, I never got to ride him for my own shortcomings - he was not unhappy but for spondylosis in his back and two surgeries for stiffle tesrs so lotta pain. Now at 76 I’m fixing to return to the city near family and I will never heal the hole in my heart to be with him again and accomplish feats as you did with horses. But we don’t die when we cross and he is around me a lot, with my mini - where there is forgiveness gratitude and joy in our hearts. There will be many miraculous treatments for injuries in 5 years with crispr technologies gene editing - I hope for your back. Many blessings and congratulations to you.
Wow on your learning so quick and sorry about the accident..I try to learn to ride but can't master it and stay in the saddle. I try but now my muscle as seizing up due to Rheumatoid arthritis and fibro. I don't know if will be able to riden i do have my own cob but he's not the confidence horse to learn on but am determination will drive me to keep going. Am only 48 so hope this illness doesn't completely not to learn to canter and stay on x
Love your shows. The once in a lifetime horse I had the pleasure to live with me for his life, was a welsh cross. Sevenup was his name. got him at 4 months, died at age 28 . A wonderful friend. He even drove off an attacker in a situation where I probably would have lost my life. A true hero. Miss him so.............. K in TX USA
So glad you got to experience that kind of love, trust and mutual devotion we can have with another sentient being! Good luck to all of you for the future. You will certainly never forget her! XXXX
Ola is beautiful! She seems to learn very quickly, too. The way she is coming along, I think you may find it very hard to part with her. Just a lovely girl.
Lucky gal Charlotte!!…she is a lovely horse that just has to get used to your ways and the area!! She is a lucky gal, and will have lotts of friends! Duke is very handsome!!…such a grand property, you have outdone yourself….very fortunate!!…it’s taken lotts of work, but the feeling must be so wonderful as you can just get on and go to the field!!….Ola is great and I tnink she will fit in very well…nice relaxing introduction!!…hooray!!🍎🍎💋💋💋❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I so agree regarding the Western tack. Much nicer looking and much more functional than the dressage tack. I've never liked the look of dressage costuming.🐾🇺🇸🐕🦺
What a nice horse! If I lived there, had the facilities and the money, I would buy her in a minute! Seems like the perfect horse for a crazy old active dog-training septuagenarian with a lot of horse sense. I think Charlotte should keep her.
What a glorious way to spend an afternoon with horses and your daughter. I love when like every kid you tell her to do something and she ignores you. Kids are so stubborn! haha.
G’day Steve Charlotte Tania ;-) Ola is absolutely lovely, you’ll have offers to buy her Pretty soon! With many source blessings with truth clarity love light laughter happiness joy fun play creativity adventures abundance wisdom and may peace be with you all! Victoria Australia 🇦🇺 xoxo
Steve ,I so the Horseman in Georgia USA, you were talking about about 45yrs ago. I owned a 16 hands walking horse/quarter horse 3 yrs old she had never been ridden or trailered. She was one of the ones that had a knot in the middle of her head between her eyes , I'm sure you know what that means. Very very fearful and high energy, I took the horseman course with the gentleman you are taking about. By the way I was 14yrs old with a broken left femur and on crutches . When I had to let her go 4yr later she was a one owner horse. She would stretch out and let me ride her in western class barrel racing and agility racing she was a dream of and animal. I will never love anything that much ever. I am so thankful you are training horses this way. It is so much kinder and gentler and takes least time then all that abuseful damaging crap. I also learned how the American Indians taught their horses it is amazing with out saying a word. I thank you so much for referring that great Horseman. God Bless you and Charlette for all you do for God' most beautiful creatures.
All in all, I think she is doing well considering today was her first full day and the traffic is continuing to be busy!! Her temperament is wonderful and is very calm!! I would never sell her or trade her….. she wants to be “into you”…..and have thoughts of tomorrow!!…..what a girl!!…I am so thrilled for you!! Happy girl!!💋💋
I love everything about this horse. She’s beautiful and sweet and willing. I have been around horses on and off my whole life. I’m 68 now and really wish I’d had your lessons and insight years ago. Would have saved a lot of mistakes. But I do have some instincts and horses seem to know I love them. I don’t ride much anymore. Haven’t had my own horse in years, but I take my little granddaughter for lessons at a lovely barn in Oklahoma. And the whole family (including me) are going on a trail ride this weekend. Thank you for your videos. They are saving horse’s and probably people’s lives. Plus they are a joy. I just wish they were easier to hear.
OLA means hello. She is beautiful . What a sweet horse - she will be easy to keep. You can tell she loves being around you all. You are being so good to her. The grass!!! Wow so beautiful. The Duke is really loving his Stay with you. He looks so happy.
Ola is definitely a black beauty, she's so quick at learning. I can't see you or Charlotte parting with her, you've got a cracking horse. I love how duke can be left to eat grass and doesn't attempt to wander he just waits for you
Very nice mare. Beautiful conformation and temperament. Western saddles definitely keep you on the horse better. I grew up in Texas, and we rode 7 years bareback to learn how to stay on, and then when we were big enough to not get our feet caught in the stirrups, we were given roping saddles.
We love Ola already. She’s very agreeable and picks up fast, besides being so gorgeous. We’re hoping you decide to keep her. Seems she may just win your heart. It’s Mother’s Day here in USA...so Happy Mother’s Day, Tania. Wonderful video, just what we needed to start off our day.
Gorgeous mare!! But then there's no such thing as an ugly horse. I was beginning to wonder if anyone rode western at all in the UK, I'd never seen anyone with a western saddle until now. I don't have horses anymore, although I'd still love to have a couple. So I enjoy watching your videos, and remembering the 7 horses I did have. Thank you
I was born in Birmingham now live in Australia love all your work, very much what I’ve been working on with my girl . Love your work ,Ethics fantastic love you lots
Well what a fantastic episode, We are hungry for it.. we So enjoy Seeing real on horse. Teaching.. and your skills,, and a little of your family.. and friends.. so big thanks.. should you ever see it..
What a Lovely Lovely Horse! Very pretty and what a darling too! My dream horse lol I hope she finds a wonderful owner to match her gorgeous temperament. Just beautiful! Well done! Duke well he is just bombproof! Perfect ! Darcy and Ola gorgeous!
In my opinion she is a keeper, what a nice mare. And yes like you I think she has some quarter horse in her. Her build and personality and in a little on how she moves. Also in my opinion, the quarter horse breed enhances any blood line. Just look at that top line! That is beautiful!
With that little creek (bog) area...Why don't you build a little bridge for it??? It would look beautiful there! What a lush, green area! Makes me want to have a picnic there! You are so Blessed to have what you have! I've had a strong passion for horses since I was 4, but never been able to have them in my life. :( (I'll be 69 in May) Horses always seemed to like me when I was lucky enough to be around them. I used to go to pet farms just to hang around the horses. I didn't even have friends with horses. I always wanted to be a horse whisperer, somewhat what you do. You are so lucky! Wish I had you were my dad. lol It's funny, I'm acquiring a LOT of info from you that I'll probably never get to use! haha, but I still love watching. Funny story. I was 7 and went to the Champlain Valley Fair in Burlington, VT with a few older friends, where I grew up. We all got separated and family & friends looked all day for me.They were frantic! Finally, someone found me. I was at the horse stables where I was all day! Best time I ever had and never went on any rides! ha ha
Great video, very helpful but please do something about the audio. Charlotte is so near the microphone that when she talks it's extremely loud. If I turn down my volume I can't hear you.
O La! I like her! She's a beauty, you look great on her Charlotte and she responds to you well. I think she's doing nicely for her second day in her new home, and Duke seems to approve too. I find it sad to hear you talking about selling her already - why not wait and see what surprises O La! has to show you? Best of luck together!
Watching Ola reminds me of a horse I had as a kid. My Dad bought a herd of beef cattle and Black Jack was there and asked how much, need less to say when I got home from school one day he called me to the barn and there he stood but was told he was green broke and as a 9 year old I had no idea what that meant. I asked Dad what I needed to do and he said work with him like you do your calves so that’s how it started but I could only work with him when he was around for safety reasons. After several months he felt he was ready but he said my brother had to ride him outside first, he said if he bucks me off… I was so worried. But he didn’t buck or kick out once, not that we didn’t have issues to work on but he never acted up and for a 9 year old girl I felt great. That was 45 years ago and still have fond memories of those days
The Young family is living a wonderful life, and it is enjoyable to watch. I won't say I envy you, cause I need to acknowledge I am too old to change my life.
Ola is a lovely girl. Horses are truly amazing - just imagine: a totally new home & 2 new humans to "learn." Both giving different 'asks/commands' so it's like Ola has to learn Chinese & Tagalog in only a few days! 😳 I know I couldn't do it. PS: I'm 100% with you Tanya - No Spurs! I also would like the FEI to ban them in Dressage, along with Double reins.
Enjoyed seeing and hearing you evaluate Ola. Interesting. Nice to see the advanced fine tuning. Love seeing Duke settled down since the first time you filmed him. Ola is a lovely horse and so agreeable. Thank you for this video.
Really enjoyed this show ... so glad you guys got her ... now even if you decide to sell her after all is said and done, she'll be a great horse for someone. But most importantly, she'll be a pleasure to ride, and thus, have a good life ... as she deserves. I also, enjoy watching the wonderful relationship/bond you have with your daughter. Looking forward to the upcoming VLOG's with Ola (Olah?) ... along with all the other VLOG's to come. Ranch days look like a lot of fun. BTW ... you and Charlotte took a ride to the Isle of White to pick up a horse ... yes?!? Did I miss it, or will that be in a later VLOG? Thanks again for the educational VLOG ... always fun to watch because it's a win/win for everyone. Cheers!
I think Ms Ola has found her forever home. She is blooming with her training and all the love and new adventures!! I live in Harrisburg.. Pennsylvania..I sure wish I lived closer .I could watch you train a horse for hours . I am glad you survived without injury from the bear 🐻... Take good care and thank you for sharing!! Oh I nearly forgot...that Duke is a special guy too . love to hear him come running when called...cow ( horse) bell jingling...so sweet...thank you again!!
Ola is such a beautiful horse. I envy you because you guys are so lucky to have so many gorgeous places to ride. I so terribly miss trail riding since I had to move for work a few years ago. Our area is so traffic busy and I can only ride in the arena where I board my horse. I do hand walk him down the road just to get him off the farm though.
Duke Dollar, Dutchess Dimes, Princess penny, Always thought they were great names my mums horses 68yes ago feel free to use em if ya like .lov all of you, learned a lot been beig watching yall fo a while now don't want to run out of you I live in Washington State .just thought I would holler at ya Thanks Guys you all rock on.or roll on. heck ride on.
Loved this video !! I’m a Californian living in Italy , I’m an Equine Therapist and we have a very small animal rescue. I felt such a beautiful mix of my English riding and my western roots watching the both of you. Thank you 🫶🏻🫶🏻 ps, I loved the bear story !! 😂 😂
How much FUN with HOLA (H is silent)... Which means "Hello" in Spanish... She is ABSOLUTELY a splendid horse & I wanted so bad to be on that Great Big Pasture cantering as well... I MISS riding & after 25 years I would imagine I would be a bit nervous & rusty... GBY BOTH Steve & Charlotte for sharing these wonder & informative VLOGS... GBY BOTH ALWAYS 🙏❤️💙🤗✝️
Oh, I'm in love again, dang it!!! lol Ola is magnificent! She's intelligent, has a good personality and, okay, so she is kinda pretty ; ) . LOL! Awesome video. Congratulations Charlotte and Steve! She's a "Keeper", in my opinion, of course.
We've all had or got one of these but excellent video. How often to you see the head nodding on horses when no flies about? You are like a breath of fresh air and happy to talk about mishaps. You are a very real horseperson. Love the video's. Love where you're coming from. ( Yes, 'Champion the Wonder horse' was my favourite TV program - "whats a matter Champ!!" whinnie whinnie!!. Excellent stuff.
Beautiful mare!! I like her , I'd buy her!! Is there free delivery if I buy Her? Oh buy the way I live in Washington state USA 🇺🇸. Only kidding 😆 She's nice 👍 I raise Cobs sec.D ,so the mare is very appealing to me.
She's just amazing, perfect! Not a problem child at all! And already would follow you almost like a dog would! I've always felt that horses are like really big dogs. 😘
What a beauty, glad she'll get a second life with active riders and, of course, professional training. I've been training my filly on a long lead, respecting my space etc. I've got her halter trained to Steve's standards, at least what he's taught in his videos BUT, I was wondering if she'll ever walk beside me? If that's even somwthing you want? She tends to drag behind and I was wanting her walk alongside. How would I achieve that when I've been training for space and practicing back up? I don't want to beg/drag her either.
She is so beautiful. What a lovely nature. I thoroughly enjoyed your video, so funny that Duke story with the bear. Ive never had a horse, ive been on a trek when o wa a by teenager but thats all. I love horses and appreciate their strength and beauty but i admit im wary. My sister kept horses, she had a beautiful young Cob, a massive horse, he loved cuddles. I wasnt a bit afraid of him. Id love to go to your ranch day. I love to see animals be respond to good trainers. When do you hold your ranch days? My sister would love it too. Excellent content in your videos. Fabulous, im hooked. Xxx

Have you tried a baited horse? I had back issues for years and was able to enjoy trail riding on Tennessee Walkers.
Lady James, I so admire you

Good to see everyone enjoying themselves, both horses and people. Ola is a star. Duke is a sweetheart.

Ola is beautiful. What a lovely horse. She definetly looks much nicer with a western saddle on her 👍😍♥️
I so agree regarding the Western tack. Much nicer looking and much more functional than the dressage tack. I've never liked the look of dressage costuming.🐾🇺🇸🐕🦺
Its nice that you just took her out for a ride! Too many horses get ridden or worked hard in circles.
Wow! What an amazing find! I can't wait to see how amazing this horse will be when you turn her into a Rolls Royce!
What a lovely horse so happy for her choice of a home. A sweetheart, kind, quiet, soft heart. Love her.
If I could afford to have Ola shipped to the UNITED STATES plus quarantine I would contemplate an offer. She is one beautiful girl.
What a nice horse! If I lived there, had the facilities and the money, I would buy her in a minute! Seems like the perfect horse for a crazy old active dog-training septuagenarian with a lot of horse sense. I think Charlotte should keep her.
That Duke looks AMAZING !!
Steve your love for Charlotte is adorable ❤️
What a glorious way to spend an afternoon with horses and your daughter. I love when like every kid you tell her to do something and she ignores you. Kids are so stubborn! haha.
Considering she hasn't been ridden, got moved to a new home, introduced to new people and horses, loud noises, she is AMAZING!
G’day Steve Charlotte Tania ;-) Ola is absolutely lovely, you’ll have offers to buy her Pretty soon!

OLA means hello. She is beautiful .
What a sweet horse - she will be easy to keep. You can tell she loves being around you all. You are being so good to her. The grass!!! Wow so beautiful. The Duke is really loving his
Stay with you. He looks so happy.

Best time I ever had and never went on any rides! ha ha
That was great! What a lovely horse, especially in you hands 😁❤️👍
I so enjoy your videos! I live in the U.S. and it freaks me out every time I see you driving on the left side of the road !
Man, you can pick a horse!!! Thanks so much for sharing. Congratulations to you and to Ola. She is one good and lucky girl.
She's so beautiful......my a dream.
Thank you for sharing your fabulous equestrian life. I live vicariously through this channel.
She could be a quarter horse. One of mine was a 1/2 quarter 1/2 arabian. beautiful horse.
Cheers!
That’s a great score! I have a feeling you’ll be keeping her lol
This is a really good idea, developing a horse for its next owner and showing all the methods, look forward to more.
Really like your show and how you treat horses that need help. They are such gentle souls.
Thanks for the family photos on horseback!☀️
I’m so greatful for your video and sharing your family!
Incredibly helpful details…love want I’m learning!👍🏻💗
I love your honesty. When you make a mistake you admit it.
I once rode western going halfway down grand canyon. What a wonderful experience.
Ola is something else love her
Ola is going to be a clever little horse,,,,x
I really hope you Ola seeimg how much fun you and charlotte and duke are all having together!!! Hinestly im quite jealous!!!
Oh my gosh, she is adorable. I bet you guys end up keeping her! 🤞
I have wanted a horse my whole life, she is my perfect horse! you are extremely lucky to own her
Loved this video !! I’m a Californian living in Italy , I’m an Equine Therapist and we have a very small animal rescue. I felt such a beautiful mix of my English riding and my western roots watching the both of you. Thank you 🫶🏻🫶🏻 ps, I loved the bear story !! 😂 😂
Ola she was a showgirl Lol Do you remember that song? But I think it was Lola lol.
What a great horse and a beauty.
What a beautiful mare 🤩❣️💖💖🫶🤩💗🌹🌹🌹❣️
What a lovely girl. I love the shape and the size. Looking forward to watching her progress.
GBY BOTH ALWAYS 🙏❤️💙🤗✝️
oh my she is perfect. i sadly lost my mare a few weeks back very sudden. she reminds me so much of her
That is one beautiful horse!
Super honest little mare. She's great. You'll have lot's of people wanting her. She's so pretty too. 😍
Shes perfect...I love her! But we have alot of bugs in central Canada and they would love her color.
She's lovely 😊 xx
I think you have a very honest little horse there Steve. Good buy.
Ola in Hawaiian is Life. Beautiful girl!
I am so glad I found your site. You are lifting my spirits.
She's just amazing, perfect! Not a problem child at all! And already would follow you almost like a dog would! I've always felt that horses are like really big dogs. 😘
That quick legs off trick is a new one, I'll remember it. 👍
Who doesn’t luv John Wayne! My fav & I remember Champion the Wonder Horse too. Showing my age! Lol
🥰 carrots for Ola!
I love Ola! Black horses are my favorite
Xxx
she is beautiful.... Keep her forever.......
