Let’s be honest, 1 2 Switch is a failure because it wasn’t a pack in, but rather a full price tech demo. BotW was more of a “pack in” title for the switch if you go off of what games people actually owned at launch.

Being a pack in would have cemented it as a large scale success but I still don’t think it would have resinated with people the same as Wii sports or Nintendo land. Also to work off your point, a little fact that still blows my mind is that at one point very early on, breath of the wild had sold more copies than switches sold. So yeah for awhile you could have called it a pack in

@@CaptainSNES I forgot it was released on the Wii U, funny to think that’s the case as far as sales go.

"Wait until the game gets good" is such a terrible argument. As someone who adores XC2, I have to admit it definitely has a lot of flaws. You gave it a fair shake, and if it's not for you then that's okay!

I liked Kirby Star Allies but I understand why you feel that way. If you want something challenging in that game, how about Star Allies's version of the Arena? A lot of people say its one of the hardest in the series, and I agree, even though I havent played many mainline Kirby games.

you should definitely try fire emblem engage if you didnt like three houses. i actually prefer engage over three houses cause the animation and gameplay was better. the gameplay of engage is basically is similar to awakening/fates. although engage has a pretty lame story and i dont know if you would like the character designs cause some people didnt really like them. but overall its pretty fun.

I’m more in it for the gameplay and as long as the story doesn’t overstay its welcome than I’d be fine with a bad story

I don't think any game I've played hasn't hooked me in some way in the first 10 hours. It doesn't have to be gameplay, or else I might have the same story to tell as Xenoblade 2. That said, there's nothing I regret seeing more as a fan of the game than people being so desperate to defend it to people who obviously wouldn't or don't like it. I can sum up my enjoyment by saying that it's like a game port of a completely original and serviceable shounen anime, complete with some horny character design, filler, and more anime tropes, and that kind of atmosphere is enjoyable to some. That said, I think fans just thought that if they recommended a point in the game where the combat started clicking maybe a little bit then the game would receive a bit more wide appeal, but considering that to beat the game, hell even most of the superbosses, you don't need to understand the UNEXPLAINED GAME MECHANICS that's just such a poor approach.

I’ve been debating on starting Xenoblade definitive edition but knowing what you know about my experience with 2 do you think there’s any point in trying or would I end up in the same spot with slow gameplay and uninteresting combat?

@@CaptainSNES Xenoblade 1 is different in terms of atmosphere and characterization and combat is more free form and positional focused as well. I don't think it's so legendary that someone who genuinely doesn't like JRPGs would enjoy it so much, but if you found yourself enjoying 'some' of Xenoblade 2 despite your opinion in the end, I'd say it's worth a try. That said, a serviceable emulation is easier to try out than a 50-60 dollar game.
Xenoblade combat , originally, was meant to reflect what the creators enjoyed about mmo gameplay in a singleplayer experience. The overall quest experience is similar, if not a bit faster paced in 1, and combat is faster but more floaty/less punchy than 2. It heavily depends on what about Xenoblade 2 you actually considered 'slow and uninteresting', but if you want to try getting into JRPGs I'd suggest a more classic avenue like Chrono Trigger if you haven't played it.

@@MarkdaMerk ive been thinking about octopath traveler and live a live, I almost put octopath on this list but stopped myself because I know its a good game that I just got stuck on, but live a live seems like an easier to get into game as its described as having bite sized stories
