Why are you the way that you are? Honestly, every time I try to do something fun or exciting, you make it not that way. I hate so much about the things that you choose to be.
One of the few talented actors who can fully embrace a part on and off the screen and make it work perfectly every time. There's a reason The Office is one of the greats, Carrell (with Rainn Wilson as Dwight, of course) carried that show to the moon.

Gru seems to be patterned after "Grimley Fiendish" a British comic strip character from the Sixties because he shares the look and is also "The World's Smartest Super Villain". Grimley was inspired by Uncle Fester from the Addams Family.
I personally think even without the makeup, Steve Carrell still looks like Gru, but the fact that he went the extra mile for the Ellen DeGeneres Show makes me love him even more! 👨🏻🦲🧣🔫❄️ P.S. We now know Gru is from Albuquerque, New Mexico! That’s so cool!
