@@GameLover-pz5zcnot to mention their Power Rangers run (although, the time where Saban originally had the franchise had the most scandals that can vary from the actors being underpayed to gender and sexual preferece discrimination)
A Quiet Secret is still on digital services, but yeah. It goes to show you not every child star can be a success only to be caught by dark secrets can tainted a person’s career. Personal demons can sadly break your career. Even worse, a child star dies instantly (I.e. Jonathan Brandis, Dana Plato, Judith Barsi).
Parents who stepped in too vigorously or were too vigiiant were targets to these predators. Look at Drake Bell's father. He had bad vibes from Brian Peck and Peck made sure to poison the well when it came to Drake's opinion of his father acting as his manager and alienate Bell's father. It's so insidious and such a long con. Once dad was out of the picture, mom was an easy mark who was too complacent when it came to protecting her son.
And Bryan Hearne stopped speaking to his mom for DECADES after her speaking up cost him his job. These networks make it an impossible situation. If the parents speak up, the kids lose out and resent their parents. If they don’t, they get abused. I don’t think Bryan’s mom regrets speaking up, but that woman was heartbroken because she lost her son for years over it.
The interesting thing about Drake Bell’s sentencing is that when you go back and you actually listen to the hearing the judge part the girls accusation because she’s adding new accusation in the victim statement and was actually found out. She lied.
I actually heard about an open secret right after the nickelodeon doc . I found it here on yt it was a great eye opener, but yet so sad what them boys were put through.
I feel so bad for everyone who had their lives destroyed by Dan and those other monsters. If all of this can happen behind the scenes of all these Nickelodeon shows, what are the chances something like this happened behind the scenes of the shows on Disney Channel? If Quiet on Set gets renewed for a second season, they need to tackle the Disney Channel side. Because I remember a few Disney Channel stars I grew up with mentioned that they didn’t had a good experience with Disney Channel.
Yes! Look up Christy Carlson Romano (from even Steven's) she has a UA-cam channel where she has had fellow child stars on that talk about their time on Disney.
I didn’t watched the fifth episode, but it is very sad. Nickelodeon, its owner Paramount, and everyone in the cutting room floor need to be held accountable. I don’t want to point out fingers, but they need to make sure they need to hire the right people and proceed cautionary conditions regarding to toxic workplace environment. I think there’s more to this story. Kenan Thompson is right: “Investigate More”
The rugpull the producers did on Marc Summers was gross and unnecessary. He was completely unrelated to any of the crap Dan Schneider did, he was long gone by the time that crap got out of hand. So what was the point of confronting him with footage that had nothing to do with him?
@AliciaGuitar Iirc Marc Singer's stuff was being filmed in NYC, while all of Dan Schneider's stuff was filmed in LA, they were literally on opposite sides of the country.
Schneider’s shows had run out of gas and were quickly dropping in ratings. I suspect that that was the reason he was given the boot and not his behavior. That just gave Nickelodeon an excuse and allowed them to look better.
In fact, Nick didn't fired him, they retired him with a monetary compensation, and rumors say that was because Dan blackmailed Viacom's former owner Summer redstone into revealing his money laundry and tax evasion crimes if Viacom gave him the boot like Harvey Weinstein or Bill Cosby
Another thing the documentary left out were Ren and Stimpy's creator Jonh Krickfalusi's claims of sexual abuse against 2 underage fans of the shows, while unrelated to Dan Schneider it is even weirder since the doc briefly mentions Ren and stimpy as one of Nick's most popular programs but never mentions anything about the case.
I'm surprised no one had talked about this & I think it should. Years ago, Nickelodeon had a contest called "R U All That: Search For The Funniest Kid In America". There was a contestant named Stephanie. Her thing was singing, "I love sausage!" It turns that that shes the same girl who is infamous for selling her farts in jars.
@@Dupontman627 the substances and the drugs that the teenage boy consumed were the disturbing things Ian McKellen was in the film too and nobody says anything
But it's Amanda story's to tell. Not someone else. She's not ready (and she don't have to EVER be). She said no to the proposal for be part of Quiet on set
Strange though the documentary has caused so much bad publicity yet Nick isn’t trying to save their reputation by promising to change. They either have a big plan to get out of this or they think it’s just gonna blow over. The CEO’s are manipulative and sneaky.
Nickelodeon is owned by Paramount. Dan's friend and Amanda's former manager, Brian Robbins, is currently the head of Paramount Studios. That's why nothing is changing. Paramount is also going through a sale of the studio, so they have bigger fish to fry a the moment.

There was an incident on to catch a predator where they caught someone trying to meet with an under aged girl and it turned out he was working for Nickelodeon.... I'm genuinely surprised that Quiet on Set didn't talk about that at all.
Much of the Brian peck and Brian singer and the start up company digital entertainment network is discussed in the documentary an open secret that can be seen on UA-cam Well worth a watch
I haven’t watched part 5 yet. But other than the stuff with Drake I knew about everything they talked about. Also Alex Nikolas has a story involving Britney and Jamie Lynn spears as well as Dan and I’m suprised she didn’t talked about it.
If the Catholic church is still around today despite all the shit that went on with the scumbag priests then I don’t think anything will happen to Nickelodeon.
I just want to say because I’ve seen so many comments of “I will never look at these shows the same…” I completely understand! It may take a while but I feel like Drake Bell and everyone else would us to keep enjoying these shows. Drake and Josh was my childhood. Just like SpongeBob I’ll continue to quote things from the show. Don’t let these monsters win!!
Not all episodes include some kind of disgusting sexual innuendo so yeah totally! But those episodes that do....yeah now you notice them and won't look at THOSE episodes the same.
Im not defending what Drake Bell did, but knowing what he went through as a kid, and seeing that normalized growing up, I bet you it played a roll in that. Not saying he's innocent from it all, but that it all comes from somewhere.
And to be honest, the 2 predators mentioned in the documentary probably had some kind of trauma in their childhoods. It’s an awful cycle, and I sincerely hope that all of the kids involved get the help they need to heal and break the cycle.
Knowing all of this information - how about we revisit the "Corey's" accusations of predatory Hollywood and that interview on the View with Corey Feldman and Barbara Walters.....
Why is no one talking about the fact that Drake Bell only pled guilty because he didn’t want to not see his son? It’s so much more likely he didn’t do anything to that girl, there’s no evidence for it. But it was more risky to please not guilty than it was to plead guilty.
It should be noted that Open Secret Movie also had a crap ton of production issues, including several of their interview subjects calling it out as "dishonest" and one of their main topic of interest had to be edited out in post production when it was found to be false (a lawsuit Bryan Singer was named in got collapsed when it was found the plaintiff submitted false or contradictory statements.) There were several reasons why no distributor wanted to touch this thing, and I'm sure some of them have to do with it being an open door to a defamation lawsuit from those it targets.
Open Secret has been available on UA-cam for a while (if it’s still up) and everyone I know has known about the nick issues for YEARS. I find the scandal truly to be how it was an open secret and no one did a thing to stop it.
I think the number one thing they left out is that Brian Robbins who was on first in class and put Dan Schneider in charge of a lot of those shows is currently the president at Nickelodeon
I am such an X-Men fan. I was thrilled when they made those films. I went to one of them with a close relative who isn't with us anymore. It just makes you sick inside. This sort of thing went on at one of the elementary schools I went to. One of our students and what if there are more. i went to a different school the year he would of been teacher. I worry about others.
I’ve watched this documentary and from the look of it from what I’ve heard with Dan Schneider, who created the shows like iCarly he was a creep, and he was very rude and mean to his castmates , which was very unpredictable. Jennette McCurdy talks about him in her book, but she calls him the creator and her book makes sense now because I’ve read it and listen to her narrated and it’s pretty intensive what she went through to work with him, she said in an interview that she’s happy people like to go back and watch her on Nickelodeon shows which is great. Miranda Cosgrove tried to convince her to do the reboot, but she did not want to and it’s pretty Sad I’m glad she retired from acting anyway Dan Schneider should go to jail
@@abrahamlupis9354 you got a point there, but still Dan Schneider was such a creep after what he did to his classmates honestly, after watching the documentary I feel so bad for what they’ve been through and if you’ve read Jeanette McCurdy‘s book, I’m glad my mom died. you can see that she calls him the creator in her book. @watchMojo, wouldn’t it be interesting to do a video and/interview the reporters and media companies that trashed and shamed some of those kids at the time, e.g. Jamie Lynn Spears. What would those reporters and media companies would say today?
It turns out the creator of Ren and Stimpy is a literal nutcase after all. After being fired from the show for creative differences and failure to meet production deadlines, there's other things revealed after, while like sexually abusing two of his staff members, verbally abusing everyone who worked on the show and vi versa.
Yeah, the fact that they barely mentioned Drake Bell's own accusations made against him (whether or not they were true) just seemed to me like hypocrisy in the highest degree.
He did address them and we know he was wrong and he knows he was wrong. That does not define who he is. He's nothing even close to being in the same league as Peck.
Every single one of those adults who wrote a letter don't deserve forgiveness. They are only doing it because of social pressures. Anyone who was truly sorry wouldn't have waited this long.
I used to think Jamie Lynn was far more attractive than Brittany to me. The backlash she got was dumb though, calling her the worst person alive. How can you tell somebody is too privileged or sheltered? If a girl getting pregnant makes her the worst thing ever to them.
Makes all my childhood seem crazy. We were imitating and impersonating these kids to join one year. It's wild what's come at the end. Those kids now adults i pray they can heal and move forward. Never forgive the disrespect but move and never do again.
Left out: that the President of Paramount, Brian Robbins, is long time friends with Dan Schneider. They acted together on the Head of the Class. Then Brian Robbins was Amanda Byne's manager -- in the era of Amanda's attempted emancipation, supported by Dan. Could this by why Nickelodeon has NOT CHANGED? Why they refused to fire Dan after multiple cases, multiple NDAs, etc.? OF course it is. And that is why they aren't going to do anything now.
@@bhunt799 Dan Schneider parted ways with Nickelodeon (they didn't ever say they fired him) in 2018, but that's literally decades after the first complaints. @@blakekaveny I know Jamie Lynn continued to lie about what happened on her book then Alexa called her ass out. I’m surprised that Alexa didn’t sue Jamie Lynn.
Me, personally, I want to know if there's any truth to Dan Schneider being the real father of Jamie Lynn Spears' daughter. There was a blind item about this years ago along with other allegations that came to light in the documentary. Plus, there are discrepancies about where the ex boyfriend was around the time of conception, the fact that the child shares some resemblance to Dan, allegations of Jamie Lynn being in a s*xual relationship with Dan etc. I'm not saying it's true, I'm just wondering if there's any truth to it.
Well, it's safe to say that there won't be a "Head if the Class" reunion with Dan Schneider. His character on that show was a sign of things to come with Nickelodeon. We just didn't know how much of an a-hole he really and truly was until QOS. Talk about art imitating life! 😢

A Quiet Secret is still on digital services, but yeah. It goes to show you not every child star can be a success only to be caught by dark secrets can tainted a person’s career. Personal demons can sadly break your career. Even worse, a child star dies instantly (I.e. Jonathan Brandis, Dana Plato, Judith Barsi).
let us not forget the pathetic parents who said nothing for fear of losing that paycheck.
Ya we’re all whores is your point right ?
Amen!!! They are a huge part in this that is not mentioned enough. Where was the parenting during all these years?

I dont get it either. You could tell he was completely unaware of any of it. Wasnt he even at a different studio?
@AliciaGuitar Iirc Marc Singer's stuff was being filmed in NYC, while all of Dan Schneider's stuff was filmed in LA, they were literally on opposite sides of the country.
Marc Summers’ era was in Orlando Florida, not NYC
@@kbh95207 Wikipedia says Double Dare was filmed in NYC and Orlando at different points in its life.
I agree! They probably were trying to make him look bad 🙄 even before word got out I had a feeling they had set him up.
Schneider’s shows had run out of gas and were quickly dropping in ratings. I suspect that that was the reason he was given the boot and not his behavior. That just gave Nickelodeon an excuse and allowed them to look better.
Best believe if he was making money like the early 2000’s he would definitely still be there shit is sick
Of course, Hollywood will cover for bad people if they're making them money then throw them under a bus when they stop.
They gave him the boot bc his behavior was out of hand and his ratings were dwindling.
Another thing the documentary left out were Ren and Stimpy's creator Jonh Krickfalusi's claims of sexual abuse against 2 underage fans of the shows, while unrelated to Dan Schneider it is even weirder since the doc briefly mentions Ren and stimpy as one of Nick's most popular programs but never mentions anything about the case.
at the end wasn't proven
Thanks for meaningful and valuable video as always ❤❤❤
I'm surprised no one had talked about this & I think it should.

I just want to say because I’ve seen so many comments of “I will never look at these shows the same…” I completely understand!
With the girlfriends, it was trauma bonding. And the girl was proven to have lied by family testimony and security

They left out Omar Gooding which is Cuba Gooding Jr brother, he was also accused of SA.
Why is no one talking about the fact that Drake Bell only pled guilty because he didn’t want to not see his son? It’s so much more likely he didn’t do anything to that girl, there’s no evidence for it. But it was more risky to please not guilty than it was to plead guilty.
It should be noted that Open Secret Movie also had a crap ton of production issues, including several of their interview subjects calling it out as "dishonest" and one of their main topic of interest had to be edited out in post production when it was found to be false (a lawsuit Bryan Singer was named in got collapsed when it was found the plaintiff submitted false or contradictory statements.)
There were several reasons why no distributor wanted to touch this thing, and I'm sure some of them have to do with it being an open door to a defamation lawsuit from those it targets.
