His ability to be completely deadpan serious and reserved like he's delivering an Oscar-winning performance in a drama when delivering absurd comedy dialog always makes his performances unique
Writer of this sketch probably had many of these questions he or she wanted to ask. And what better way to answer them than in an interview? For a very professional job. So simple yet so clever. And the fact that Christopher Walken was the interviewer was just perfect.
Chris Parnell was really one of the best SNL cast members of all time. I don’t think I ever saw him break once, and his delivery was consistent with each character.
He reminds me a lot of Jason sudeikis, they could easily be brothers, voice is almost the same aswell as their delivery of dialogue and role on the show
Parnell was one of those “role players” who made the show work. The secret sauce of good SNL skits is the performer who can just act and play the straight role. That’s what made Hartman and Nealon so deadly, and made Farley or Myers that much funnier as a result.
Walken. Centaurs. Job interview. That's all this sketch needed to be greenlit. "Just let Walken and whomever (in this case, Chris Parnell) ad-lib, it'll be fine."
I don’t know if you’re old enough to remember a time when Christopher Walken (and Leslie Nielsen, for that matter) were dramatic actors who you never would have guessed would turn into goofballs relatively late in life.
2:12 “ this interview is not about me “ lol 😂 Christopher Walken reads cue cards but still gets away with it ! ..His awkwardness and poker faces are so funny in itself lol
The way his tail kept flipping around made me laugh extra hard - "there's a store, like a centaur Crate & Barrell..." they just had no idea where the sketch was going when they wrote it and threw in the ass wiping bit
We don't have SNL on telly in Ireland. Seeing it more on youtube recently. I only knew Parnell from a couple of small cameos like Anchorman where he was underused. The more i see of him the more i like.
Goddamn I haven’t seen this since the SNL DVD best of Christopher walken was streaming several years ago on Netflix I forgot how funny this is “Fair enough” is such a Walken line lmao
I for some reason was so certain he was going to give the centaur the job. But just the way he rejected him from getting the job at the end especially after all those incredibly uncomfortable questions just cracked me up so much😂
I've been to interviews where we both KNOW I'm not getting the job, yet they meander on with a bunch of questions. While not a centaur myself, I can relate to this. lol
I like how they gave a genuine answer to the bathroom questions instead of just defaulting to going wherever. I like worldbuilding even if it's just for comedy.
I have always spelled it 'ogbesian' as that seems the most sorta whimsical fantasy spelling of course what's funny is they're not aware a horse's rectum needs no wiping because it does like a ketchup bottle.
1:50 "Are we going to talk about my qualifications..." ? "The rest of the interview will be Centaur questions"
I love that line
I love how Christopher Walken looks, acts and sounds so classy as if he was in an everyday serious situation when he talks about stupid shit lol
Well, he does work in Hollywood.
Indeed
He has a tough time.not laughing a couple times
His ability to be completely deadpan serious and reserved like he's delivering an Oscar-winning performance in a drama when delivering absurd comedy dialog always makes his performances unique
"Would you have sex with a monkey if it had a mask on"
"This interview is not about me"
I don't know how he didn't lose it.
Christopher Walken can just say "fair enough" and have me in stitches.
I burst out laughing so hard
"It was a horse."
Cracks me up every single time.
"Deal with it!"
Me too. I’ve had an inside joke with a friend over that line for years.
Best line of the sketch.
U😊😊
IIRC they've used the same format joke for other Walken SNL skits, maybe more than one other, which makes me think it may be a joke he uses IRL.
This interview is not about me.
He almost broke there🤣
Oh yeah he definitely screwed a monkey with a mask😂
I like how Walken reads the lines off the cards as if he’s barely aware of the meaning of what he’s saying.
Writer of this sketch probably had many of these questions he or she wanted to ask. And what better way to answer them than in an interview? For a very professional job. So simple yet so clever.
And the fact that Christopher Walken was the interviewer was just perfect.
Definitely he
Man, never seen this sketch before, it's so simple and so clever and Christopher Walken is amazing!
I agree. And this skit is great.
The half human nailed it. The centaur wasn't bad either.
I know right those half human plants were great
Clever 💯🔥🔥🔥

@@leob4403 lol Please don’t insult Parnell that way! He is waaay more talented than Sudeikis!
OMG I just realized this. You brokey brain!
actors "breaking" is a part of the the sketch
Parnell was one of those “role players” who made the show work. The secret sauce of good SNL skits is the performer who can just act and play the straight role. That’s what made Hartman and Nealon so deadly, and made Farley or Myers that much funnier as a result.
Just when I think I've seen all the great classic SNL skits, a gem like this pops up.
Walken.
They're clearly not ad-libbing.
"It was a horse... deal with it!" Don't know why, but that line kills me.
You're gay deal with it
Never expirienced that
I have and english is not even my first language
To be fair, he did say he'd never know if it was a horse 🐎😂
2:12 “ this interview is not about me “ lol 😂 Christopher Walken reads cue cards but still gets away with it ! ..His awkwardness and poker faces are so funny in itself lol
"Would you be offended if I require you to wear a cowbell while working?"
😂
🤣🤣🤣👍
I think that line's bleeding over from another sketch.
What kind of mind comes up with a modern day doctor centaur goes on a job interview?!
SNL used to have great writers in those times, also the cast and guest were the best.
An imaginative one! 🤣😂👍
A reprobate mind
you forget that this was from the 90's, it wasn't that out there then. The 90's often made stoner comedy similar to this.
A mind with a horses ass and a sense of humor.
The way his tail kept flipping around made me laugh extra hard - "there's a store, like a centaur Crate & Barrell..." they just had no idea where the sketch was going when they wrote it and threw in the ass wiping bit
Who wrote this. Seriously. The amount of jokes is overwhelming.
I was wondering the same thing. For some reason, this sounds like Norm MacDonald to me.
This is a classic Judd Apatow skit.......his weird ass humor :) and it's great
I think it was Jack Handey
Could have been Adam McKay.
Ikr?! I can't stop laughing 🤣😅🤣
Bro literally the first joke
"Sit please."
"I wish I could."
And literally not a single laugh
Because it wasn't a joke. It was a fact.
I wonder if he's an epidemiologist while also being a horse-man.
He could be the centaur for disease control.
BEST COMMENT!!!
This comment deserves to be the centaur of attention
He couldn't do it alone.
The centaurs for disease control are plural.
"The rest of the interview will be centaur questions" made me laugh so hard and I don't know why 💀
love how at 2:00 you can see him almost lose it, and then regain his composure.
Also, at 2.25, after he says This interview is not about ME.
Also at 1:28.
good catch hadn’t seen that one. 2:25 was the first time I’d seen Christopher Walken come even close to breaking
it was a horse. deal with it
COME ON.
Always has been.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😊
Christopher Walken is hilarious in this!
I love when the hosts try hard not to smile
"I've got a fever. And the only thing that can cure it is more centaur."
GREAT POST! 👏🏼😂
"It's in the barn. Or behind a door, or a vase..."
We don't have SNL on telly in Ireland. Seeing it more on youtube recently. I only knew Parnell from a couple of small cameos like Anchorman where he was underused. The more i see of him the more i like.
I'm a Centaur and I'm offended.
Relax friend, they were just horsing around.
Fair enough
@@Shadowwolfe2k7 hahahahahahahahahahahaha
It’s 7 years later and I think we really do have centaurs now
Goddamn I haven’t seen this since the SNL DVD best of Christopher walken was streaming several years ago on Netflix I forgot how funny this is
“Fair enough” is such a Walken line lmao
2:21 One of the very few times Christopher Walken almost breaks character and laughs in an SNL sketch lol!
FFair enough.
I wonder who wrote this piece. One of the more cleaver things I've seen on SNL.
Clever not cleaver
Totally clever
@@melissatyree566 I think they meant that the sketch was wholesome, like the Cleaver family in "Leave it to Beaver".
Adam McKay's final sketch at SNL
"The rest of the interview will be Centaur questions," lolol! 😂😂😂 He says it like so professionally as if it's a thing hahahaha!!
Christopher Walken is the best host in the history of SNL.
My favorite SNL sketch of all time. “It’s called an augbesian.”
lol great name
This interview is not about .. me. I lost it.
I'm not a fan of many older SNL skits but this one was pretty good.
Oh man he did him bogus in the end 🤣🤣🤣 "I'm sorry we don't hire dirty centaurs" lmfao
Username checks out!
This interview is not about me.. lmao
I for some reason was so certain he was going to give the centaur the job. But just the way he rejected him from getting the job at the end especially after all those incredibly uncomfortable questions just cracked me up so much😂
And after that interview, the centaur became a police officer and earned a five second cameo in Bright. And no one ever questioned him again.
The end.
Only Christopher Walken could make a centaur interview sketch so iconic and legendary. Hilariously funny, a true comedy king. 😆😂🤣❤️♥️😍😘🥰🤩🌟✨
The tail swishes are everything
“This interview is not about me” 😂
Christopher Walken is priceless
The rest of the interview will be centaur questions
I love how when the centaur walks in u can hear the wheels on his back legs still but they dub it
Dan Murell brought me where
Same!
Me too
I can't thank him enough
Who
Somehow, Gordon Ramsey brought me here.
This whole thing has a very Kids in the Hall feel, especially the little throwaway part with Chris Kattan in the beginning.
I've been to interviews where we both KNOW I'm not getting the job, yet they meander on with a bunch of questions. While not a centaur myself, I can relate to this. lol
One of my favorite pieces of comedy ever.
“The rest of the interview will be centaur questions”! 😳😆😆😆👈🏽🤦🏽♂️
Their straight characterizations the WHOLE time through something so fantastically silly. 😊😅😅
Word-for-Word Job Interview Answers to Use To Get Hired.
Damnit I love Chris.
When he said "I've heard them all" I was REALLY hoping for Chris to come back with something clever.
but the horseracing questions seemed to be new to him
I like how they gave a genuine answer to the bathroom questions instead of just defaulting to going wherever. I like worldbuilding even if it's just for comedy.
The rest of the interview will be centaur questions.
God man this is so original i couldnt stop laughing. Brilliant
I need to know how to spell "augbegian" so I can reference it randomly and hopefully get the word added to the national lexicon.
aubesian ?
I have always spelled it 'ogbesian' as that seems the most sorta whimsical fantasy spelling
of course what's funny is they're not aware a horse's rectum needs no wiping because it does like a ketchup bottle.
how walken didnt crack up here is unbelievable. such a talent
Probably one of the greatest skits ever
sketches
Yeah I agree
I'm here because of SNL binging
Oh my God this never gets old. LMAO 2:20.... But look at his fucking smile lmaooo
This interview isn’t about me.
He almost broke character then and laughed but he didn’t. A true pro
"so, there is a company that manufactures centaur asswipers". I died here.
Augbesians
"The rest of the interview will be centaur questions"
Dr Spaceman Rides again with off the wall creativity. ........................
The rest of the interview will be centaur questions 😂😂
Chris played this so straight, you'd think he'd actually interviewed a Centaur before IRL. 😅
How does this not have more views?!? 😆
Monster Musume, the live action version
Honest Trailers Bright commentary sent me here.
I haven't seen Bright, but from everything I do know about it, I know exactly what they mean haha.
It sounds to me like he says "centoir" 🤣
The rest of the interview will be centaur questions. If only I had a nickel for every time I've heard that.
I want to be a centaur when I grow up 💞
Deep.
Wow. Never watch this high. 🤣
Too late 😂
How have I never seen this???
honestly, one of the funniest things of this skit, is that Chris Kattan's hair was considered hip...
I'll never forget the time I saw this when it came out .. Damn I about pissed my pants.
I love this sketch.
This cracked me up. XD
This seems like a Norm Macdonald sketch.
He was fired three years before this. This is Adam McKay’s work.
walken is funny
This era is just the absolute fucking funniest SNL!
Somebody’s been reading a lot of Piers Anthony and just needed some questions answered 😂😂
1:59
‘How did I get suckered into THIS skit?’
I’ve never seen this skit, but it’s hilarious! 👏🏼😂
Finally! Centaur humour!
Fair enough
Those were good questions.
I'm here because of Screen Junkies and Bright.
Ooh I finally saw this online again
Looks like he'll be heading back to the job centaur.
2:23 Is that a break? LMAO
impossible to tell with walken
Here from Honest Trailer Commentary!
Same!
👍🏻🤣👍🏻 the head is in a barn or behind a vase😂
You just know that the writers were banging out a bunch of Centaur related questions.
Christopher Walken likes a little bit of sketch while reading cue cards.
Christopher Walken is a bad ass
