Hughezy had the comedic delivery of a cancer doctor
@@andreafelton689 That's because they person who did it died of cancer
Glad to hear Jim not trash him.
He had Bald Brian back on the other day. An occasional does of BB is better than daily. Even if it's a financial move, it's a good one.
@@BlackRam17 You're right, I secretly cry myself to sleep listening to bootleg recordings of Minnesota mom and Baldywood
@@BlackRam17 I have to say though, I listened to a new episode with Eddie Trunk on and it was pretty funny
Geico didn't renew their ad contract. Mostly financial, but agree with the sentiment that the quality has increased.
well, Carolla's new format is a winner.....everything changes, and in this instance the change has been good. Gina Grad was downright annoying anyway
Agreed, Gina came off to me as a trend follower first and foremost, always playing it safe. She didn't doesn't seem genuine, imo.
Bald was better with being genuine but more of a genuine immature person who could not handle disagreements, especially with callers. He was very rude at times, and it was upsetting to listen to.
With that said, they each made me laugh a lot, and they'll be missed, although I view this as an overall positive for listeners like myself who'd find themselves just waiting for them but to stop talking most of the time.
@Hughezy Entertainment Oh, I think I know what you mean. Her role was to follow the news, yes, but that's not what I mean by trend following. I'm talking about her character as a whole when I say trend following.
I see her mainly as a tribalist and a very secondhanded person, meaning she was influenced by others as opposed to her following her own judgment. Probably because following your brain (reason) takes way more effort than following your heart (feelings). Whenever she hit on a serious topic, it would be mostly platitudes and nothing actually insightful. Very "Play it Safe-ish". Just doesn't make for something I personally enjoyed listening to.
Adam's the best though, especially when he goes off on his rants and implies that Gina and Bald were pussies for that very reason of not being completely honest with themselves and believing what they want to be true as opposed to what IS true. Because they're scared of acknowledging the truth.
I don't agree with Adam on a bunch of subjects, but I think he's a truth seeker, and I appreciate that. It's nice hearing a person speak their thoughts who actually have their own genuine thoughts through the observation of reality.
to hear from another show that has it's own behind the scenes chaos going on, K100 is for you.
Adam Carolla is better now than the past 5 years. Bald Brian and Gina were dead weight.
The Sam Tripoli episode last week was awesome
I've heard a lot of people say that about that episode, I've not listened to it yet
took a hot second to get used to it...the show has a new life. Much better, changed was needed
@@deepfocus888 I usually, even before the firings, only checked it out when i liked the guest.
I have heard a lot of positives about it though
@@HughezyEntertainment Jodi Miller and Jessimae Peluso are great in studio as occasional guests. I hated Gina, was so bummed when she landed the gig.
I remember years ago there was a very brief period where there was going to be a joint show with Adam Carolla and Kevin Smith, but unanswered emails and butthurt egos killed it off pretty quickly.
Can you imagine those two towering narcissists trying to share a show? Now I hate Sarah Silverman as much as anyone, but she nailed it years ago when she talked about how Carolla was upset that she wouldn't do his show. Her response was something like: "I'm not gonna drive all the way out to the Valley just to watch him stare at the ceiling and talk about himself."
Even Cumia got that treatment when he was on. Adam rambled about himself for 45 minutes, then he had Ant on and the only thing he wanted to talk about was Opie getting upset with him one time years before. So it became all about him again.
in that case, I know the story well: Kevin Smith is completely in the wrong. Him & Carolla had pitched a show yet, behind Adam's back, Smith made a deal to make it with someone else.
So Carolla basically did all this prep work for free.
A Cumia and Carolla show would have been amazing in theory. They have so much in common - funny, working class Italian Americans. But Adam finds it impossible to shut the f up to even take a breath. I have a newfound respect for the patience Dr. Drew and Jimmy Kimmel exhibited being his partners for years.
And the Sarah Silverman quote is dead on. I loved Adam on loveline, man show, his radio show and the early years of the podcast. Had to tap out when he had funny guests on (not Sarah necessarily, but plenty of other examples) and they’d get to complete 5 sentences in 75 minutes.
@@SKa-tt9nm on paper yes but Carolla would talk over The Ant Man a lot.
Did you see the show with Jason Flom, it was awesome, one of the best ever. This was the best interview since Jordan Peterson took on the “so you’re saying” lady.
He got riding of two nobodies, Bryan and Gina, who else did he let go? They were both horrible, Bryan was not a Fred Norris, not even close. Fred was super funny, did great impressions and was unbelievable good at making John and Jackie look like fools. Bryan was annoying, not funny and kind of resented Adam and was kind of a contrary, beta male.
i haven't seen it but if it's on UA-cam I'm definitely going to check it out, you're not the first person that I've seen mention how good it was.
@@HughezyEntertainment it was Adam at his best, he got pretty confrontational over several minutes but the way he was able to keep the discussion civil was pretty impressive to me.
You mentioned to me before it's important to have opposing viewpoints and this was a good example of how you do that and let everyone speak their mind and try to come together on common ground when possible.
Yeah, i do not hate those two as people but they were horrible on the show and you can tell Carolla restrained himself many times from laying into either one or both on air. Especially during covid.
Adam isn't conservative, he's been pretty consistently libertarian for decades. I do like the shift from radio show to more of a podcast format, but I think freeing up some cash by laying off staff is a big part of it. Hopefully the divorce doesn't screw him over too badly, you hate to see someone have to sell off everything they built up over the years.
see that's what I don't like about the change: now the Carolla show is just the same as everyone else's (format wise, not content wise)
I think he will get some other people on the show when he moves. His show is better when there's other voices.
Well, Bryan hardly ever contributed or said anything, and Gina was off a lot last year getting married and was constantly irritated if anyone interrupted her while she was reading the news, which happened often--so you could feel it coming off the rails in recent months anyway.
Why do you keep saying Adam "fired 'everybody'"? He got rid of two people out of probably 20-30 employees.
You missed an opportunity for a hilarious joke where you could have asked Jim if anybody ever accused him of being a coward by calling him “chicken Florentine“
They wouldnt come in because of covid, and he was based about it, in reality, not scared to go outside and other nonsense
Always hated bb & wondered why he was in the show and figured he must have paid Adam to be on it
He should have fired the entire staff burn down the building but you don't get rid of Gina.
Just saying
getting rid of Gina has, in my eyes, proved to be a huge mistake because he just keeps getting more "day players" to do her job, only with a lot less chemistry.
Hughezy lay off the booze a tad unless you are channeling Foster Brooks lol
Maybe this podcast should fire a few people so it can spend some money on production. It looks like some high schoolers doing a show out of their basement......
Bald Bryan and Gina grad ruined the show. Now its more popular and funny than ever.
@@HughezyEntertainment Yeah average views on videos are up, bigger guests, more comedians. Some of his videos in the last year have half a million views.
Better show for sure. Only downside is that since dropping his progressive cohosts, he tends to lean into more liberal or 'netflix friendly' guests. I think sometimes he tries too hard to avoid the conservative label.
@@muximus2771 hes always been Hollywood in that sense though, most of his friends are big libs. But now he actually rants for long amounts of time. With Gina and Brad they just kinda disengaged, they wouldn’t let him cook, which is where Adam shines. When he would do a sketch with Gina is was cringe local radio level
Divorce didn't kill his show ... his show was horrible with those two. I stopped listening almost 10 years ago because of how he took the crappy AM radio vibe to a podcast for no reason at all... it was unlistenable.
how would you know the show is bad if you stopped listening almost 10 years ago?
@@HughezyEntertainment because Adam is incapable of change or learning. He’s the same as he always was and I don’t mean that as a compliment. I checked out circa 2011 after years of being a fan. Plugged back in for cumia’s ep. Awful. Adam is an egomaniacal hack.
to hear the entire interview that covers Opie vs Jim Norton, Howard Stern vs Joe Rogan, Steel Toe Morning Show vs Chad Zumock, Eddie Trunk's awkward interview with Brian Johnson from AC/DC, the behind the scenes chaos at The Adam Carolla Show, his craziest Bob Levy story and much, MUCH more
