I'm inclined to agree with you. She also said that the "prostitute" imagery was inspired Haruki Murakami's Wind-Up Bird Chronicle... which made me love her even more :D
I appreciate how even though she has the body for it, she doesn't show much skin here. Many other female pop singers these days would show as much skin as possible (especially for this song!) but she's showing barely any. I love it!
she's a real musician, not trying to get attention through her physical attribute but by her music. Something that fergie, lady gaga and lots of female artists should learn to do.
@dyunaar1989 agreed. i was just watching her official video for this song... but i like this performance of the song better. but her costume and "love charm" routine were awesome. but she just seems so much more herself here. : )
Moreover, I have also studied Swedish during my time as a university student (not for my Bachelor but on the side) and what Endstation said about women being as emancipated as men is true. That's one of the reason why some men in Sweden prefers foreign women. Because they are less inclined to feel insulted by chivalrous acts (like opening the door). And the fact that there is an higher Rape Reports in Sweden doesn't mean that there are more rape there than anywhere else.
People get vacation time, better time, etc when a large collective group of workers demand these things for years (struggle). Bosses don't say " you guys need some sun- ok here's vacation time"
Unbelievable performance, she is so talented and deserves to be a big star. I just hope she doesn't get compared to Lady Gaga or any other of those no talent, nothing but shock performers.
@alejandrorueda Lady Gaga's different. If you watch her 60 minutes interview, she reveals that her costumes, outfits and weird hairstyle is all part of her manipulation of the media. It's actually quite brilliant.
@hashfromplan9 She usually looks like that when she performs ANY song, I think. She might try to come off as more harsh than she usually looks because of the meaning of the song... I mean; take a look at the music video for it and she looks harsh there too.
"Rape is not more common in Sweden [than elsewhere]," says Karin Sandell of Uppsala University's National Centre for Knowledge of Men's Violence Against Women, echoing a sentiment expressed by many Swedish rape experts. "It's just that Swedish women are more empowered to report it to police."
@Mycenaea no ive seen her a lot live and 'harsh' isnt a word id associate with her, her stage presence is more fierce, but she herself is sweet and mellow if u meet her in person. but she definitely hesitates to say - and mumbles the word "Prostitute" /every/ time she performs /this/ song. dozens of time in a row, her face gets a very self-conscious expression and she looks uncomfortable saying that one word every time she sings it. even on the record she sounds uncomfortable w/ it.
@nastyplot555 I disagree with your assessment of the word. It still carries the root "nazi" in it, so it does refer to totalitarian behavior. Yes well so is the song.
It obviously is about sex. But when she says its not about sex, she means that she is using it as a metaphor for her control over publicity/the music industry (or something like that). There really couldn't be much more obviously sexual lyrics without being blatantly explicit. "Don't pull your pants before I go down," "Like a shotgun needs an outcome," "I'm your prostitute, you gon' get some" come on...
Haha. That was a very desperate way of not admitting you don't have any arguments. Good arguments you've got there! I presented real arguments based on academuc research by the wirlds leading criminologists, you responded like a real teenager. :)
@hashfromplan9 Why do you think they try to use sweden to get Julian Assange accused of rape? That's because the idea of what rape is in Sweden is very broad. The same in the other Scandinavian countries. Unlike sahira, U.S. Law and other medieval legal systems.
It just means that women know their rights and aren't responsible of having been raped. That it is not their fault but the rapist's. Anyway, does anyone else think that the "I am your prostitute" line is contradictory to the meaning of the other lyrics? She implies that women hold the control, that they don't take demands. But aren't prostitutes working on demands?
By reading you mean understanding what she is saying in the song? Wow, and you said it was awesome (another word Americans use to butcher the English language), which would imply you did understand the song? But your only comment is to mock other statements, which suggests you in fact didn't understand the song, but rather like to feel socially accepted therefore feeling the urgency to write a derogatory comment without any meaning behind it, a simple "great song, but I don't understand it."
@hashfromplan9 '' find this amusing cuz u imply *every* single person in Sweden approves of prostitution on both constitutional & personal level.'' ??? Apparently you cannot even read your own lagnuage. Of course noone in Sweden thinks prostitution is a good idea. During my 22 years in Sweden I've actuallt NEVER seen a prostitute, because prostitution is very uncommon. What I was saying was that in Sweden it's generally totally okay for a girl to say and do what she wants.
@franzoz & how does a psychologist act when he or she is not in session? In reality ive been very polite to u troll. nice @Endstation, at least this time u sounded a little more like English was yr 2nd language and not yr 1st. if someone went to school in US they would not get very far without having a basic working knowlege of our language. the coursework is in English. it is okay to not speak 100% flawless English, but only a long-time resident could converse as fluidly as u have here.
American women do not follow gender norms much anymore. Some more conservative states, sure, but throughout most of the country (especially on the west coast) women have lots of sexual freedom.
Great performance! Her voice got stronger in this album. LOVE IT
Love her pant suit.... so much swagger.
Man, if I had a dollar for every time I heard someone sound this good..... I'd have one dollar. OMG amazing.
definitely one of the best live performances i've seen
talented vocal and band...
very nice style of dress...
nanna Ferguson. Her message is powerful. Women really have it tough. Her lyrics tell the story.
that drummer rocks!!
Has an addicting voice. Until we bleed is my favorite song.
I love her and her music, and I love him and his show.
Lykke Li owns it everytime and everywhere she performs!
now that's what i call music!
Amazing! Total shades of Siouxsie and the Banshees 1987
I didn't know Siouxsie's work with the Creatures, so, no. But thanx for getting me to look it up.
Love the beat, the big band banging on the drums..
I Love this song and Lykke Li is amazing! Beautiful video.
I remember watching this on TV when it came on, I had to look her up right after
a force to be reckoned with....~__*
One of the most talented of this generation!!!
FLAWLESS.
I'm inclined to agree with you. She also said that the "prostitute" imagery was inspired Haruki Murakami's Wind-Up Bird Chronicle... which made me love her even more :D
❤❤❤
Lykke is great! She is absolutely unpretentious and her self....
That was awesome!
awesome lykke :)
I like this live version best.
that ride bell is powerful

This is the Best performance she has ever done, I think. Well, atleast on a talk show anyway.
Hell yes.
love
Thank you!
THE SUPREME
omg this is the best performance ever
@dyunaar1989 agreed. i was just watching her official video for this song... but i like this performance of the song better. but her costume and "love charm" routine were awesome. but she just seems so much more herself here. : )
I like your style, Dude.
Well, I dig your style too, man. Got the whole official thing goin'.

My favourite song of hers is Dance Dance Dance : 👍 👊
wow. pulled off the aesthetic live and shit. hard to believe one person wrote that song.
How I got to know Lykke Li! xD
People get vacation time, better time, etc when a large collective group of workers demand these things for years (struggle). Bosses don't say " you guys need some sun- ok here's vacation time"
@MrHardy946 As in singing? The song is in english.
I knew I heard that "Batman Arkham City" Catwoman trailer song from somewhere. It was from Conan.
Shit! She's the best live performer I have ever seen
Unbelievable performance, she is so talented and deserves to be a big star. I just hope she doesn't get compared to Lady Gaga or any other of those no talent, nothing but shock performers.

@slurms625 So a song of Hally berry would appear in the promo of the videogame.
@hashfromplan9 She usually looks like that when she performs ANY song, I think. She might try to come off as more harsh than she usually looks because of the meaning of the song... I mean; take a look at the music video for it and she looks harsh there too.
cool
Love this woman.
@mrsstarryeyed its her thing. she uses it a lot.
pretty cool shit
He beats those drums like they owe his bitch money!
man this chick sounds way better live and shes beautiful too
"Rape is not more common in Sweden [than elsewhere]," says Karin Sandell of Uppsala University's National Centre for Knowledge of Men's Violence Against Women, echoing a sentiment expressed by many Swedish rape experts. "It's just that Swedish women are more empowered to report it to police."
@stuff4783 Who DOESN'T have a crush on Lykke? :P
actitud: ♥
You sound handsome and smart.
The song remember me catwoman :P
That's how I'll move in front of my boss after I tell him I quit my job
@coreyyeah Yeah, probably.
My favorite song by her is "I Follow Rivers".
@dissident93 its tucked in ;)
@mrsstarryeyed "Dynamic".
That's a bad girl!
@Endstation amen!
@joshr03 They can take it off. They just won't screw.
This one goes out to the cat thief in Arkham City
@Mycenaea no ive seen her a lot live and 'harsh' isnt a word id associate with her, her stage presence is more fierce, but she herself is sweet and mellow if u meet her in person.

@rbrazil99 I saw that after I commented. haha
@Endstation It's too bad America's still like that... -an American
(no sarcasm intended)
I think conan has a little crush. Did anyone else here his voice at the end?
Her performance on Jimmi Fallon was one of the best artist performances I've ever seen. Too bad it's missing from the webz.
I am still looking for this
DLed the actual album. The Conan version is 10x better. I put this on my iPod instead of the regular one.
@nastyplot555 I disagree with your assessment of the word. It still carries the root "nazi" in it, so it does refer to totalitarian behavior. Yes well so is the song.
Need for speed the run bring me here
crazy she's only in her early 20's
Where the fuck is the Jools performance of this song? Why was it removed?
@NeaCast She looks better with longer hair. But yeah. haha
Is that french or spanish she's speaking???
Her name is not Lickey Li, its Lykke Li!
It obviously is about sex. But when she says its not about sex, she means that she is using it as a metaphor for her control over publicity/the music industry (or something like that).

she kinda looks like val from awkward in this video
At 0:59 confirmed illuminati now : Must be new recruit

the outfit is brilliant. we women need to assert dominance and strength in society or we'll get steam rolled by anti-feminists
I prostitution legal in Sweden? No matter the song is off the hook!!!! I am stalking it on UA-cam and all.
I know that. I've seen the interview. But if you already knew this, why are you so disturbed she uses the name prostitute?
It just means that women know their rights and aren't responsible of having been raped. That it is not their fault but the rapist's. Anyway, does anyone else think that the "I am your prostitute" line is contradictory to the meaning of the other lyrics? She implies that women hold the control, that they don't take demands. She didn't mean that she is a real prostitute, is just a saying , like "i'm a bitch" or something like that
Lorde has stolen this woman's moves?
She moves better then Lorde, who looks like she's always tripping on some Opiate.
She probably is just to keep her gig worthy for her corporate masters!
Benjamin Rood excuse me? Writer In The Dark??? Liability?? You must have deaf ears to not notice that she has improved a lot
Like the version of NFS the run better :)
I think the bull horn is a bit much.
Honestly for the longest time Ive been pronouncing it likely unless he said it wrong which I don't doubt..
She is cool as shit!
she seems a bit uncomfortable with the prositute line
maybe it was for shock effet and then she change her mind:P
