Jaxon Washburn you're the young man in the videos, yes? I used to be a Calvinist as well. Since you're open to reading evidence, I have a recommendation for you:
Both Calvinism and Mormonism make the same basic claim: Jesus originally taught their doctrines, but those doctrines got corrupted by men (i.e. the Catholic Church), and then God sent someone later to fix everything back up (Luther, Calvin, Joseph, etc).
I've questioned LDS presidents of universities as well as professional Protestant apologists as to WHEN this corruption happened. Most take it back to the early 4th century. The earliest I've heard is early 2nd century from Mormons.
Here's the problem: we have lots of writings from Christians who lived from BEFORE any time period that you or Calvinists/Protestants say this corruption occurred.
Go read their writings for yourself. Not snippets contained within a Protestant, Catholic, or LDS book. Read the whole letters, on your own, for the whole context.
You'll very soon realize that, even in the first century, these Christians were Catholic.
Protestantism and Mormonism are both dependent upon a falsehood. Both need to prove that Jesus and the apostles taught their beliefs we're originally taught, and then man (usually claimed the catholic church) came along and corrupted it. If this is false then their beliefs are false. And any study of history shows that the early christians, right from the first century, believed Catholic theology, and both mormon and protestant theologies were much later inventions. They are the "itching ears" that Paul warned about.

I'm sure you understand that the Christ and the God that Mormonism preaches is not at all the same as the one revealed by scripture. His misgivings, as the rest of ours, are warranted.
Similar to the beliefs of Muslims and JWs, their Christs and our Christ are simply different entities. Therein lies the tragedy of salvation.
Isaiah 43:10 is more than enough for most who rigorously test the differences in theology.

    • @kll2220
      @kll2220 7 років тому

If God commands us to do something in scripture, shouldn't we do it? I think I understand the flow of logic behind your question (you'd probably also ask "why evangelize if God has already chosen who will be saved and who won't", right?), but it shows a lack of understanding of Reformed doctrine. We pray because God has commanded us to. We evangelize because God has commanded us to. He has chosen to use them as a means to accomplish his purposes, yet we recognize that it is only by his will and power that any good can be accomplished through them. In order to understand your position better, would you say you believe that though man is not predestined to salvation or reprobation, the salvation of man is still in some way dependent upon God/upon the prayers of men?

    • @wernerheisenberg4112
      @wernerheisenberg4112 7 років тому +2

K LL, The Salvation of man is solely dependent on God's mercy, in the sense that His forgiveness is all that can save us. Not in the sense that He predestines our response to the Gospel. Our prayers can make an impact on the Salvation others, in the sense that God seeing our faith might move in ways He wouldn't have otherwise. As Jesus healed the paralytic, as it seems, because of the faith of the friends. (Luke5;20) The sinner must repent and trust the Savior himself but prayers make an impact on everything, whether we see it or not.
Does God will people to be damned?

They deceive you; they do not tell you everything, someone who hasn't heard the word of God, can full into it easily, the people are kind, clean living people, community, and it seems like a Christian church, but it is not anything like Christianity, run as far as you can when approached by Mormon missionaries!

@ The only difference between it and being a Protestant or “normal Christian” is that the guy who performed the tricks can be accounted for. It’s a signal that all religions are started the same way lol. Jesus and Paul were simply Joseph Smith before Joseph Smith. You exercise the same reason and thinking a Mormon does to justify their beliefs.

    • @dzien4
      @dzien4 7 років тому

Rebekah, you was a mormon? I realise this may not be the place, but what happened and how did you manage to loose your testimony I wonder and hope you don't mind me raising the issue, which of course is completely your business unless you chose to share it, which I respect. I can say of course there is a universe full of material on line and in all cracks and crevices of opponents mouths against the LDS church, but as one evangelical historian said of Joseph Smith, you can't dispute that in that respect he got the same reception Christ did in his time on earth. If it is true, you can bet hell and all the high winds, astute men steeped in biblical arguments, steeped in all the cunning and wit available to man will not just wish or even consider to, but will be driven to tear it down with an unexplainable fervor. I would just say to you, if you got caught up in a lot of this, your mind can be fooled, just watch a magician, there lies the evidence, even the cleverest of us can be deceived by the magician, so the only sure way, after diligent enquire and along side it, is ultimately from heaven via the holy ghost in a way you know is true beyond any doubt, what could be farer? In this way, you don't need an intellect to know truth, because actually, God loves all his children, the right ones as well as the not as bright, but all can receive a witness of the holy ghost and if people join the church the right way, it is through a witness of the they know it is true, no hebrew words, no greek words, no compelling argument, no proof texts, just pure simple undefiled revelation. You cannot get purer, it comes as it it did to Joseph Smith, straight from Heaven. But like anything, it needs looking after, growing and exercising or it will eventually shrivel and die. Doing the things you covenanted to do, will keep that testimony in good shape, but not doing those things will open the door to a different spirit, a different inclinations and eventually pacified by counter arguments a broken path. That is what I see. I don't know in anyway if this is your situation, I don't intend to postulate that in anyway by writing all this, but I just felt to add these words. I am sure you are a very sincere lady and wish you the best on your journey home.

@@christusomnipotens3751 Calvinism is heresy, a plot of satan to remove God's chosen Jews out of the picture. Satan hates the Jews because they are chosen of Almighty God. Calvin rewrites the Bible as do all of those who follow the doctrines of demons.
Regarding the Jews and Jerusalem’s future hope: “And in that day I will set about to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.” “It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.” And in that millennial day, a Gentile will grab the garment of a Jew and request to worship with him at Christ’s Jerusalem temple that Christ will build Himself: (Zechariah 12:9,3, 8:23 and 6:12)
"Many nations will join themselves to the LORD in that day and will become My people. Then I will dwell in your midst, and you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you. (Zechariah 2: 11)
'For I,' declares the LORD, 'will be a wall of fire around her (Jerusalem), and I will be the glory in her midst.'"
(Zechariah 2: 5) And Christ will keep his promises as revealed in Matthew 24 and in other portions of Scripture.
God never lies and He will not change His mind as He knows the end from the beginning and Christ declared all prophecies will come to pass. And Christ spoke of Zechariah and quoted this book four times. The Bible is true and all prophesies will come to pass that are yet to unfold.
It a cult of the occult that uses one type of method to begin to recruit. A member of this false cult who lurks in Bible-believing churches will ask you if you are a Calvinist or an Arminian. A Calvinist will continue the dialogue if you are confounded and offer no answer. He will lie and say you have to follow one or the other. They will explain, well, you are a liberal if you follow Jacob Arminius. Just crazy!!!!
Many take the mark of Calvin so they can be part of this satanic club and be accepted by the false prophets.
It is all about being one or the other. It is entirely lame to tell anyone they have to be a follower of some wicked, sinful man. It is a lie from the pit of hell. It is akin to telling you, you must follow Jim who lives to the right of you or Joe who lives to the left of you. It is insane wickedness and stupidity. You do not have to follow any reformist’s demonic teachings. Christ did not go around asking folk, well, do tell, who do you follow John Calvin or Jacob Arminius?
John Calvin followed Augustine the father of the Catholic church, an idolater, who worshipped Mary. This is why he believed in the heresy of infant baptism. He stole doctrines from Augustine. Augustine taught the Catholic church replaced the Jews. Calvin changed it to say believers replaced the church. Please watch video of popes praying before bones, including Augustine’s: ua-cam.com/video/GtphyBYFgAg/v-deo.html
Augustine was loved by Calvin and they both denied the book of Revelation and did not believe in the Millennial (being amillennial) rule of Christ taught throughout the Old and New Testaments.
Calvin’s John 3:16 heresy gospel-God so loved two percent of the world or so that He gave His only begotten son for the two percent or so, that if these two percent or so believe on Him they might be saved and not perish but have everlasting life.
Calvinists do not believe in Jesus Christ being Almighty God and able to die for the sins of all who have lived, are living and will live.
John Calvin believed in general society owning worth. He believed society would conquer satan. Calvin: “Wherefore, the sense will be (in my judgment) that the human race, which Satan was endeavoring to oppress, would at length be victorious.” “To mean the posterity of the woman generally.” He later added reformists into this equation further into his commentary on Genesis 3:15. It is all insane as with much of what he writes in his commentaries that is blasphemous. I see why Calvin is called a humanist. Read his verse 15 commentary-www.christianity.com/bible/commentary.php?com=clvn&b=1&c=3
This Frenchman, Calvin, did deny Jesus Christ by saying it was not Christ who would bruise satan on the head at the time of His crucifixion, being a false prophet, blasphemer and heretic. Christ did perform this at the time of His death, as the seed of the woman is God the Son. Is it not interesting, Catholics lie and state, Mary was the one who bruised satan on the head? Once again, you see Calvin taking idolatrous Catholicism (Augustine-ism) and changing it to his own blasphemous liking.
And Revelation, in chapter 19, we read of satan being cast into the lake of fire by an angel through the agency of Christ following the tribulation. Satan’s influence on the earth will end till he is released after a thousand years.
Because Calvin believed in satan being bound, some generations following Adam and Eve, true Calvinists believe satan is bound today and society is relevant to Christianity.
This calls to my mind Ezekiel chapter 8 where the priests pretended to worship God, but behind closed doors, they worshiped false gods-satan in his various forms.

The fact that Jaxon is only 18 and he has the intellectual and spiritual capacity to stand up to people like White and Durbin. Jaxon is the real deal, and it's driving the exmo and nevermo crowd crazy. He's part of a new generation of Mormons who aren't blindsided by the filthy spin that critics like to dish out. If you believe that a man can become a god, you do not believe in God of the Bible. There can be no other gods.
Mormon people are really wonderful people and a lot of them do not understand the depths of what their Doctrine actually teaches. I remember having a conversation with someone who told me that if he got sick or anything happened to his family the church was there for them. Why wouldn't he want to be a part of that, he asked me. Membership in a society does not guarantee salvation. Only Jesus Christ, alone, does.

Smart young man. It does appear that he expects to be called to Christ in a Mormon fashion - that there might be some kind of sign. Maybe he plans to jump into something hoping that God will stop him with a big sign or extreme enlightenment - saying "no no, don't do that. I've called YOU." It reminds me of the story of the man on the roof in certain danger of drowning. The man prays, "God please, save me." Then he hears, "yes, I will save you." So the man sitting on the roof sees a man with a row boat. The man with the row boat says "hi, there. The waters are rising and will soon be upon you. I have room in my boat for you." Then the man on the roof says "no, thank you. I am waiting for God to save me." So the man sits and the water gets higher when he meets a man with a motor boat. The man in the motor boat has a similar message and offers him a ride to safety. The man on the roof again declines the help saying, "no, God said He will save me." Now the water is at the man's feet when he sees a helicopter. The helicopter drops a ladder for the man to climb up and the man on the roof shouts back... "No thank you! God is going to save me!" Then, the man on the roof drowns... thereafter, when the man is before God, he says, 'Lord, why didn't you save me?? I was waiting for you!" And God says, but I sent the man in the row boat, and the man in the motor boat and the rescue helicopter."
I pray that he will just take hold of the truth and opportunities that God has been giving him.

In about 11:33 in regards to the unpardonable sin: is Dr. White saying that the Pharisees were actually convinced that Jesus was doing miracles in the power of the devil? When he says identify the Spirit as satan, does that mean confuse the two? What would that look like today since we can't see Christ's miracles? Would someone who has committed it believe Jesus is actually from the pit of hell? Would they be concerned about it? Is he saying it's unpardonable because of the state of their minds (like Doug Wilson asserts) and not because that sin was somehow worse than blaspheming the Father or Son? I'm trying to do a proper exegesis of the text to see if it's incorrect to assume the phrase, "speak against the Spirit" is referring to a whole category of sin which can include anything you ever say at all irreverently or disrespectfully in any circumstances for any reason against the HS. So, it doesn't matter if it was done accidentally, purposefully, impulsively, or even in your sleep. For example, your kid throws a temper tantrum and curses Him or if you stub your toe and blurt out an unholy phrase. Or if you react to a situation on the news and say, "oh my..", but instead you use HS instead, then you have just taken His name in vain and are doomed to hell. Am I missing something? What about the conjunctive adverb in Matthew 12:31, "therefore" which connects the warning with Jesus's earlier statement that whoever is not with Him is against Him...? As far as I understand, the word, "therefore" is used to give a reason for an earlier statement so it seems Jesus is equating the unpardonable sin with rejecting Himself like in Hebrews 10 where rejecting the sacrifice of Christ is trampling Christ underfoot and outraging the Spirit. I've also heard it is rejecting the witness testimony of the HS concerning the person and identity of Christ without which we couldn't even know who Christ is.

    12:24
he says we don't know who the elect of God are. Colossians 3:12-13 is written to the elect, so obviously Paul knew. The elect is another name for Christians, and the bible says we can know that we are saved (hence that's what a Christian is). [1 John 5:13] How do we know we are saved? By knowing God and having obeyed His Gospel [2 Thessalonians 1:8] We know that we know God by keeping His commandments [1 John 2:3]. What is the gospel? The death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ [1 Corinthians 15: 3-4] How do we obey the gospel (death, burial, resurrection)? Through the obedience of baptism [Romans 6:3-5] {where we *die* with Christ, are *buried* with Him, and are *risen* to walk in newness of life]. (Of course there are pre-requisites...hearing the gospel [Acts 10:14], believing the gospel [Mark 16:16], repenting of sins [Acts 2:38], confession of Christ [Acts 8:37]). We can know the elect by testing them [1 John 4:1] according to the Word of God and see if they have a knowledge of the truth [1 Timothy 2:4] which has set them free [John 8:32]. Why do you think you can not know the elect?

May the young man heart & mind be opened up to saving truths that changes & transform ones life, starting first inwardly. As it's utterly impossible to achieve one ounce of saving grace through the means of what the LDS Church teaches amen.
Moroni 10:32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and denyyourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.

    • @hereiam21ful
      @hereiam21ful 7 років тому

Jaxon with all due respect towards you, as I love Mormons & have Mormon friends, it's clear from the Mormon text of scripture that is important to a LDS member & a follower of the church, their is no getting around this. From what the BOM is teaching to one who is reading this text. Especially of those who are seeking & trying to be faithful LDS members, who are seeking out the non-Biblical processes of exaltation. As LDS teachings clearly teach you, one is saved after all you can do, reference to 2 Nephi 2:25. In which goes against the clear teaching of the fall of the first Adam, of the Bible alone, as Mormonism says the fall was a good thing in a upwards progression. But not my words but the writings of the Apostle Paul, states that the fall of the One & only human race was a bad thing, on many levels, as their is none who are good, no not one, as their is none who are righteous or seeking after God by their own fallen will. One may be physically alive, by all means, but one is spiritually dead in all aspects of ones life, & utterly unable to ever please Him, in ones fallen condition apart from the Biblical Christ, removing ones spiritual heart of stone away. As one is held in moral corruption, bound in bondage to their trespasses & sins, while living in a fallen state, utterly & desperately helpless to help themselves but unless God intervenes on their behalf; reference points to Romans 3:10-12, Romans 8:5-8, Eph 2:1-3, Jhn 1:12-13, Jhn 6:37 & V-44.
Jaxon when can you or any other Latter Day Saint, reach a point of ever being able to deny yourselves of all forms of ungodliness in ones mortal life?
As that isn't a option nor a suggestion for a Mormon either, but a achievable goal accordingly for LDS members though.
1 Nephi 3:7 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.

So heres a question for calvanists. If you believe you were chosen by God and He picks who is saved then explain this. John 3:16 says that God so LOVED the WORLD that He gave His one and only Son that WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH in Him shall not PERISH but have everlasting life.

    • @CC-ee7bj
      @CC-ee7bj 7 років тому

If you break down the Greek scripture and try to translate it as directly as possible, you get something like this: "This is how God loves the world. He gave His one and only Son so that all the believing ones shall not perish but have eternal life".
If you compare the word that is used for "world" you will find that it has many uses in the Greek text, 10+ if I remember correctly. In John 3 Jesus is talking to a pharisee who believes that only the Jews are chosen, but Jesus is showing him that God has chosen people amongst the gentiles as well. "world" = gentiles = every nation, tongue and tribe. God is expressing His redemptive love for His people.

The problem I see with this exchange is the Mormon does not provide any good reasons for why he believes what he does. He doesn't really seem interested to either. Instead, he seems more interested in talking about all of the things he would like to learn and tries to build Dr. White up as he marvels at Dr. Whites knowledge. Is he really interested in truth? Or would he rather find more ways to think highly of himself or humanity? This life isn't about us, it's not about the journey Dr. White has taken to get to the point he is at or the journey this young man will take in becoming some "intellectual giant". This life is about God and his perfection and our imperfection. You are who you are, an imperfect sinful creature that deserves hell. To ask why you are such a thing is to ask why you're not God. And to place such an importance on becoming an intellectual giant is nothing but pride and delusion.

    1) I’m confused about what James White said starting at 12:00. For years he has used John 6:44 to show that only the elect will be drawn to Christ. Well, aren’t the only ones who commit the unpardonable sin the non elect? According to his theology, if these Pharisees committed the unpardonable sin, then they were decreed by God to commit this sin. Therefore, they were never part of the elect. And he goes on to say that what made the sin unpardonable was that they were calling the Spirit that was drawing them Satan. How could they have a drawing if they were the non elect, when James has repeatedly said that only the elect will be drawn to Christ? I’m either misunderstanding or he misspoke. 2) At 13:03, the Mormon tells James exactly what Calvinism says about repentance and I’m quite disappointed that James didn’t just own it and affirm what the Mormon was telling him. If he is part of the elect, he will come no matter what you say, so you might as well tell him that what he is saying absolutely correct. 3) It seems like James and many reformed believers in the comment section really care about this Mormon’s eternal destination. My question is, why? James has said that God’s priorities should be our priorities, and if it is God’s priority to leave this guy unregenerate and not want him to believe, then we should prioritize this Mormon to remain unregenerate and not ever believe, so our priorities are aligned with God’s.

Calvinism is heresy, a plot of satan to remove God's chosen Jews out of the picture.

James White is usually a decent scholar, but I have found he uses that to try to slip things by when it serves his purposes. In this video, at the 8:16 mark of the video he defines "aparabaton" in Hebrews 7:24 "without successor". That would be a good translation if you were following scholarship from 100 years ago and didn't care about truth. Go to popular websites like Biblehub and look up their greek translation, and it says "permanent". Look up Walter Bauer's Lexicon, considered the Gold Standard for Biblical Greek-English lexicography, and it states: "Hb 7:24 is usually interpreted 'without a successor'. But this meaning is found nowhere else. aparabaton rather has the sense permanent, unchangeable." Hmm, why does James say without successor? Why indeed? Because, like his horrible exegesis of Ps 82 he engaged in with Bill Hamblin several years ago, and wound up using 150 yr old commentaries which didn't include the recent archaeological findings because they are uniformly devastating to his interpretation of Ps 82, so the concept of permanence vs. non-transference makes his objection to the Mormon concept of the priesthood similarly void. And the "permanent" meaning also came from the discovery and collating of many additional Greek texts during the past 60 years, which is relatively recently, but not exactly CNN breaking news. He should and does know better. He is being deceptive to try and win a point. Who is his master?

Another key concept to understandingGod’s dealings with humanity is His lack of partiality. The apostle Peter correctly stated: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality. But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him” (Acts 10:34-35). This verse testifies to the fact that the Bible presents God as a perfectly impartial, fair Being Who gives every person an equal opportunity to respond to the truth. We must understand, however, that we are not saying that all people have the exact same number of opportunities to hear the Gospel, or are born into identical socio-economic situations, etc. What we are saying is that God fairly judges each person based on the opportunities he or she has been given. As Jesus said: “For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more” (Luke 12:48). In all the examples in the Bible in which people responded properly to the truth, God provided those people with enough information to be saved (cf. Acts 8:26-38; Acts 10). God, therefore, takes into account every aspect of a person’s inherent make-up and external environment and impartially judges that person’s behavior based on what he or she should do given all the circumstances.

James really is a magician in how he pulls good people away from a good church. I am a Latter-day Saint and it’s painful to see people be sucked into his subversion. He’s said it himself, as a pastor, if anyone can show that he speaks untruths, then he is a false teacher. Well here’s your perfect example; in this video (7:19) James says that in Hebrews 7:24 it clearly states that the priesthood is not passed on to individuals or that it's without successor. Meaning Jesus is the only one who can hold it. However nowhere in Hebrews does it say that anywhere. (Hebrews 7:24) It says that through Jesus Christ the priesthood will last forever (or the Greek word, apparavitov means “is permanent") So way to change that one up to fit your agenda!
As for Genesis 50:12. Which is a great scripture in the Bible that gives an example of how God the father would allow evil through mankind in order to save a great number of people. (through the evil acts of Joseph brothers selling him into slavery)
Well, I would say this, for anybody who has contention with Latter-day Saints simply because of church history and the actions/decisions of Joseph Smith (whether I would agree they were bad/Miss guided or whatever) Let’s just say for argument's sake Joseph Smith was far from perfect. One could easily use Genesis 50:20 And impose the same logic as to Heavenly father guiding a man to do things in order to save a great people. 16 million Latter Day Saints plus today! I’d say that’s a great people.
So let go of the "how" Joseph Smith did it (again... I don't think it was evil), and hold on to the "simple fact" that it worked! After all, God likely gave Joseph Smith liberality on the "way" he did things or likely was a key contributor on revealing to him the ways to succeed. Good or bad... based on Genesis 50:20. God had bigger plans in mind. So don't let Church history or the accusations regarding the actions of early church leaders sway you away from a True Church!
I mean come on, James White is a Calvinist. Calvinists believe everyone either was or was not pre-chosen to be saved. Despite the 30 plus years he's been preaching... he may not even be among the pre-chosen for all he knows. That's rather rediculous!
Take the “U” in TULIP (Which is the Motto of Calvin Doctrine). It means "Unconditional Election". Basically stating that before this earth, before anything, Calvinism teaches that God chose to save only a certain elect group of individuals. And he did this based on unconditional election. Quite the opposite of unconditional love, where you love somebody no matter what they do. Unconditional election, basically says He picked a group of people to give grace to, Based on nothing! Whether they did anything good or bad… Nothing! In fact, it says he chose to damn anyone outside of that group… Again based on nothing! This quite bluntly is the definition of unfair! More so along the lines of something Satan propagated.
If there’s one thing I know the Bible says... is that God is a just God!
Again no rug even exists to pull out from under Calvinism, based on just the “U“ in TULIP. There is no foundation for Calvinism, except an obvious miss interpretation of the Bible. Just the "U" makes it very easy to toss anything else the religion teaches out with the bath water.
So basically there's a 50/50 Chance that despite one's conversion (into Calvinism) that you are still not going to be counted among the ELECT he pre-chose in the beginning... hope James likes to live with those chances? I mean that's what Calvinism teaches... there's no point in what you do in this life... you might be outside the favored elect no matter what you do or have done. that's just wrong and simply illogical.

It isn't through Jesus Christ the priesthood will last forever. Jesus Christ IS our High Priest forever.
Hebrews 7:17 For it has been testified: You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.
The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind, “You are a priest forever.”
22 Because of this oath, Jesus has also become the guarantee of a better covenant.
23 Now many have become Levitical priests, since they are prevented by death from remaining in office.
24 But because he remains forever, he holds his priesthood permanently.
Who are these LDS mere men who think they can pretend to have the Melchizedek priesthood?
The Bible teaches that all believers have priesthood authority (1 Peter 2:5, 9; Rev. 1:6; 5:10; 20:6). Even in the Old Testament, the nation of Israel was to be a kingdom of priests (Ex. 19:5-6). However, Jesus is the unique High Priest (Heb. 7:23-8:13). Each believer has the authority to preach the Gospel, baptize, and govern the kingdom of God on this earth. It is not something that is limited to males who are above the age of 12 or 18.
      ***********
      Calvinism doesn't teach 50/50.
God chose Jacob and rejected Esau apart from anything that they would do, “so that His purpose according to election would stand.” But we don’t like that! We want things to be equal and fair. We want everyone to have an equal shot at salvation and we want that salvation to be linked in some small way to something that we do.
As the sovereign of the universe, God always accomplishes what He purposes to do. He chooses some for salvation apart from anything that they do, and He rejects others apart from anything they do (9:11, 13). We need to submit joyfully to this truth because it is God’s authoritative revelation of Himself.
As the righteous Sovereign over all, it is outrageous to think that God could treat anyone unjustly (9:14).
As the righteous Sovereign over all, God is free to show mercy to whomever He wishes (9:15-16).
As the righteous Sovereign over all, God is free to harden whom He wishes, to display His glory (9:17-18).
      ********
      What did Jesus say?
John 10:27-29 My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
I John 5:13 I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.
I know for sure that when I die I will be with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
"Absent from the body, present with the Lord."
"For me to live is Christ and to die is gain."
