I played cobra back in the day. 440sz. Then quit golf for a while when I hurt my back. Came back and went for my first fitting with PXG. Played that driver for a year but found it spun too much. Came back to cobra with the lLRDxLS. I went from 275 total to 295 total. I love this driver
You made more sense than anyone has ever made about a driver release. People would be running to the stores for this driver. Great take. I hope they are listening, but ego may not let them do it.
I've got the Cobra LTDx in the Blue/Red/White. Love the look and feel, and I agree. But as other have said, a Cobra Mini Driver in the $299 range would fly off the shelves so fast.
The new Wilson Dynapwr for 2025 look sensational so you must try them. Irons going for the Dynapwr forged for me way better than any other iron have tried and the price is brilliant.
I think Tour Edge have it about right. Two heads. The E725 is their max 10k offering. The C725 is in standard form a LS driver. But putting the light weight behind the face and the heavier weights back you get something between the two/ a standard driver mid spin etc.
The problem with tour edge is when you start upgrading shafts, the savings disappeared immediately. A kai'li shaft on a cobra is nothing extra, on a tour edge it's $150.
The F9 has been in my bag since it first hit the market. It really helped my bad shots and performed just as well as my previous Ping and Taylor Made drivers for my best shots.
After watching your review of the Aerojet I decided to go with that... Price being cheaper than the major brands was the major factor in my decision for a high handicap "middle of the road" type of guy like myself. When I hit it well it's a thing of beauty! I've recently been interested in maybe adding a pair of the Dark speed hybrids to the bag (since I fairway woods and my swing don't seem to mix).
I have the LTDx with the RDX Smoke Blue shaft and the MIM Tour irons and wedges...and their 3d printed putters.not fitted... i freaking love Cobras newer clubs....probably never going back to another brand.
I still have my King LTD Black. Not the longest driver I've had, but pretty accurate. Used the RAD for a short time and sold it. Using a TSi3 now, don't really see that coming out of the bag anytime soon 🤙
I’ve had the F6+, F9 and now game the LTDx LS. I love cobra drivers/woods. I agree. The color pop would be better. I have the red and navy LTDx. The all black is a titleist move.
I love the blacked out look of the Darkspeed lineup. Im still on Speedzone full set and wont be upgrading anytime soon. But if i do all black everything would be my choice of colors.
In 2017 I was custom fit for F9 driver, 3 & 5 woods and 2 hybrids. Sorry I let them go. That F9 driver was revolutionary. One of the best drivers I ever had. I don’t think it’s better than my current TSR3 on off center strikes but out the middle it was very close.
I still game my navy blue Cobra Rad XB with a shorter shaft! When my swing slows down I will consider a new driver! Although I am interested in the new Cleveland HiBore when the reviews come out!
I agree. I just don’t get why they went away from the look of the F9 so quickly with the yellow or white solid fill paint. The crown of that club was not great but the sole was elite. I had the matte black Speedzone and really liked that look, the yellow SZ was ugly. They could kill it with an F10 that brought back that same sole. I do like the look of the Darkspeed, I think it was the best since F9 and Speedzone
I have several drivers. Usually I buy the previous year's model at a steep discount. I keep going back to my F9 Cobra, because it suits my game and it performs better than the other clubs I've spent cash on. Rather like the TaylorMade M6, which is as close to perfect as they ever came.
I still game a f9. Upgraded the shaft a few years back, but still holds up. I tried a bunch of different drivers the year the aerojet came out (stealth2 paradym, g425) and it held up with them. One of these years maybe I'll actually upgrade.
I love driver release season but the only one I'm interested in, is the new Wilson Dynapower Carbon. I'm a Titleist player, but the last Wilson Dynapower driver almost made me change my driver, so this new one, honestly could do
In a similar vein, i love, absolutely LOVE the feel and sound of my tsi3 driver. My tsr3 3 wood though....plays well, but the sound and feel is a bit too "tinny" or bright for my liking.
It seems to me that it’s really only titleist out of the most recognisable makes that hold back putting drivers out every year but to be honest I doubt that any more tech in golf clubs
Loved the Aerojet, darkspeed just didnt work for me on the eye.... F9 was good looking.. but its their move away from being lower priced... that i feel has been their issue
Please find attached photo of the next Cobra Driver, the F-35. If you can't see it, it's because of its stealth technology 😂😂😂 Always good to hear your musings, James!
I have a radspeed and when I would get it, it was longgggggg But when I didn’t it was bad, that’s a me problem. I ended up switching to a used tsi3 and I have the same issue but not as often. The issue with cobra is it’s cheaper but people like me who go for cheaper usually don’t get fitted. If I got the radspeed fitted, I’m sure I would be singing its praises. Still love my radspeed, but until I actually get good I just want it to be easy
The new dark speed adapt has already been leaked, similar line up with more adjustment options on the hosel. You can see it on the USGA conforming list and leaked on SM.
Please do a head to head test between the Cobra F9 and the Ping G430. I am sure many of us want to know whether its worth changing out drivers that are 5 years old.
Talking about the price , will be interesting if Wilson bring a Dynapower replacement out and see if all the influencers rave about it but don't use it
On this one we agree. The F9-Speedzone, were great sellers and stood out from all the other offerings. I think they need one low spinner, and a general max forgiving model, and be £100-150 cheaper, as they were during their best-selling times. Sell more, get the back in their products. Price today does matter and going against the trend will be noticed by the buyers. Cobra have lost their position in the market, due to raising prices, so they are more head-to-head on price, with the top sellers, buyers will then gravitate to the top sellers, because the price difference is too close to care. Resale value on Cobra gear also suffers more, especially with the price hikes.
I wished all golf companies would lower the prices of equipment. As a 57 year old golfer who started playing at age 10, I can remember driver in the 80’ and 90’s being ti material and costing $150.00 tp $200.00 and golf companies still using ti material and now they are $400.00 to $600.00+. Cobra has always been a favorite of mine and simple because of quality, innovation and price.
The driver will be a game changer or you mean the new hosel adapter with more settings? Pretty sure the Dark Speed Adapt isn’t anything ground breaking and just a minimally tweaked dark speed. It’s public domain info at this point the pictures are already on USGA conforming club list
Hold on... We have already seen the drivers for next year from cobra they are called the DS Adapt and there are 4 of them. All matte black with either grey, red, blue or black accents. Weve known this a while now
Maybe a dumb thought but I think Cobra is in a bad position. If they charge the same as TM/PING/Cally they won't sell as many. If they make them cheaper they may sell more, but some people will think "it's a cheaper and inferior product to the major OEM's. Just my $.o2🤷♂️🤙🍻💨 Edit: hopefully not to crazy of colors, but once the opposite side the blackout version kinda boring looking too
I'd love to see a 440cc head that's forgiving. I realise the engineering would be a challenge but it would be spectacular for those of us who prefer the look of a more compact driver head
You can't have a premium price point and then in less than 2 years sell at half the price. The aerojet is selling for £200 now. I know not many consider resale value when buying the latest driver but it says alot about a brand.
Cobra made a massive impact in the market because they were 150 quid cheaper and just as good But now they're almost as good and the same price There's a reason Cobra clubs plummet in the 2nd hand market Hardly anyone really buys them Also they need to bring the rails back on the fairways...they make them with rails for tour players
I have the radspeed driver&its absolutely brilliant&looks great in its colours, hence ping copying with the same colours on the g430 family!! Why dont you suggest to cobra to put mini jet engines in the club head&a ignition switch in the grip lol golf club facination is turning stupid!! 😆 There is not many clubs out there that are crap these days, they all share cloned DNA!! Bit like cars have lost a lot of there individualism!!
They DEFINITELY need Max and X, the Max is draw biased and the X is not; I already play a draw and dont need a driver that promotes a hook with my swing. I don't think they will go bold again like the F9 simply because being massively better than other drivers, which the F9 was, is much harder than before. They'll play it safe and keep it quiet and sedate like everyone else while charging $599.
Cobra have photos on their webpage of their new driver the DS Adapt. There is 4 different heads, I think the new one is a 10k. The big thing with the new driver is a 64 position hosel, hence the name adapt. It is pretty much the same as the darkspeed, black with splashes of red and blue on the max and X. Personally I love the black cobra’s, I don’t need any distraction’s while I’m trying to hit a tiny white ball. The cobra is still cheaper than the big brands and looks better than them. I’m up for a new driver this year and cobra is top of the list, one of the big reasons is because of the way that it looks…. Colourful equipment ages badly.
What if they come out with a 10k version and it's the F10K?
OH MY GOD DID WE JUST BREAK THE CODE!?
If they named it that I would buy it just because of that! :)
Best idea on the internet today!!!
I switched from the Speedzone to the Ltdx this season and I love it! I think the Ltdx is as good as any driver out there.
I played cobra back in the day. 440sz. Then quit golf for a while when I hurt my back. Came back and went for my first fitting with PXG. Played that driver for a year but found it spun too much. Came back to cobra with the lLRDxLS. I went from 275 total to 295 total. I love this driver
Same. Love the red white and blue and I love to look down on it. Red Ventus shaft with a white golf pride grip really sets it all off for me.
2% inflation each year for 40 years adds up
The LTDX was a revelation driver I still have my AMP woods and rotate between the them and my LTDx
It's gonna take a lot to get the LTDx outta my bag. I absolutely love it!
You made more sense than anyone has ever made about a driver release. People would be running to the stores for this driver. Great take. I hope they are listening, but ego may not let them do it.
Corporations don't have egos, only profit quest.....
@@jongeephotography i work for a corporation 🤣 but ok.
I've got the Cobra LTDx in the Blue/Red/White. Love the look and feel, and I agree. But as other have said, a Cobra Mini Driver in the $299 range would fly off the shelves so fast.
I'm still using the Cobra King F9 and love it. Still performing like new.
Correct
The problem with tour edge is when you start upgrading shafts, the savings disappeared immediately. A kai'li shaft on a cobra is nothing extra, on a tour edge it's $150.
Cobra Mini driver. Make it cheap and make it in decent numbers.
That would be absolutely goated
Lower case f9
Agreed ive played their fairways forever. And if they made a deep face 300-320 cc head in a 9, 11 and 13 lofts I would prob buy 2
They used to do a Cobra “Long Tom” 2-wood which was effectively a mini-driver. Great club. Should re-introduce that.
The ltdx was the best driver they made since the f9. I loved the look of it too I own the regular ltdx and a blue ltdx ls, love them both.
Nothing they make is going to be like the F9. Great drivers, but the “smash factor” was crazy. It was the shape and length.
Provided you didn’t mistakenly buy the F9S.
@ no. I bought it in 2019. I changed the shaft.
Is the s the speedback. Looking for a cheap driver to grab for the next season @andybt3989
I had the Fly Z driver in red and adored it😊
The F9 has been in my bag since it first hit the market.
Well done James 👏 😊
Still rocking my Cally FT3 / FT5 combo, still launching high, long and straight.
I have the LTDx with the RDX Smoke Blue shaft and the MIM Tour irons and wedges...and their 3d printed putters.not fitted... i freaking love Cobras newer clubs....probably never going back to another brand.
Youve hit the nail on the head there i bought the f9 in white love it but the names and colours of the new ones after have put me right off cobra.
Still using King F8 driver, 3w and 7w bought new heavily discounted in Dec 2019. Best deal I ever got.
I put a lead sinker from my fishing gear in the base of my MK 1 wood 30 years ago - went like a bomb 🤣🤣
I have the F6 and love the blue colour scheme...
I think your advice for cobra would be good for any of the top brands too.
I still game the Speedzone. Totally agree with your thoughts.
I got a great deal on a Cobra RadSpeed XB a few years ago. I'm hitting it well and don't see any real reason to change, but you never know.
I still game my navy blue Cobra Rad XB with a shorter shaft! When my swing slows down I will consider a new driver! Although I am interested in the new Cleveland HiBore when the reviews come out!
I still have my F9 in the garage.
Still a good driver.
I have had the LTD, F6, F8, Speedzone and now the LTD LS. And a 10k would be a must to compete with the big boys
I still game a f9. Upgraded the shaft a few years back, but still holds up. I tried a bunch of different drivers the year the aerojet came out (stealth2 paradym, g425) and it held up with them. One of these years maybe I'll actually upgrade.
Cobra are a very underrated product in my opinion and I’m looking forward to seeing the next release from them
I love my Cobra Radapeed Xb
Great insight James, change the name, colors, lower the price and they would shock the market again! Keep them coming brother
I agree I -lay cobra air x irons and LTDx driver would love to see Cobra get back to their market! F-10?
I love driver release season but the only one I'm interested in, is the new Wilson Dynapower Carbon. I'm a Titleist player, but the last Wilson Dynapower driver almost made me change my driver, so this new one, honestly could do
In a similar vein, i love, absolutely LOVE the feel and sound of my tsi3 driver. My tsr3 3 wood though....plays well, but the sound and feel is a bit too "tinny" or bright for my liking.
i can't wait for you to talk and demo the new Wilson Dynapower driver and woods
It seems to me that it’s really only titleist out of the most recognisable makes that hold back putting drivers out every year but to be honest I doubt that any more tech in golf clubs
I have the Cobra Max with the counter balance shaft and it’s the most consistent driver I have hit
Loved the Aerojet, darkspeed just didnt work for me on the eye....
F9 was good looking.. but its their move away from being lower priced... that i feel has been their issue
Please find attached photo of the next Cobra Driver, the F-35.
If you can't see it, it's because of its stealth technology 😂😂😂
Always good to hear your musings, James!
Hahahaha love your comments Steve.
Cobra’s niche should be where Cleveland, Wilson and Tour Edge is at now. Great performance for an affordable price!
James I disagree I just picked up the Darkspeed X and love it wish I would’ve when it hit shelves!!!
Don’t know what you’re disagreeing with mate I also love it! Just love theF9 more and its price
Just got a darkspeed x with a kai'li white 60x. 250 american dollars and I'm set for at least 6 months.
I had the f9 loved it but just changed it to an areojet max
I still love my Cobra AMP driver and fairway woods
I have a radspeed and when I would get it, it was longgggggg
But when I didn’t it was bad, that’s a me problem.
The RadSpeed XB might have been a better fit for you, it's almost as long, but much more forgiving.
Just got a cobra Aerojet for 102 can’t wait to try it out
I switched to cobra after ping, callaway, Cleveland and Taylor made… and I’ll be sticking with Cobra.
I still have the Bio Cell Driver and 3 wood, love both, havent hit anything else thats as forgiving as it is, great clubs
I have cobra f9 driver and 3 wood and it would take alot to get them out the bag
The driver that you describe that everyone wants is already out there. You have Wilson, Tour Edge.
I have a Sim2 max and switched back to my Cobra Amp cell because it’s longer I had a ping G410 in between the 2 but gave it away
That is an eyesore😂😂😂
hope they keep the Darkspeed name and line. LOVE my LS
Talking about the price , will be interesting if Wilson bring a Dynapower replacement out and see if all the influencers rave about it but don't use it
If they make an updated F9 that is as good it better, I'd buy it in a heartbeat
On this one we agree. The F9-Speedzone, were great sellers and stood out from all the other offerings. Darkspeed was the best looking driver of 2024, next year's model will hopefully have the same crown with something brighter underneath
I wished all golf companies would lower the prices of equipment. Cobra has always been a favorite of mine and simple because of quality, innovation and price.
I’ve already hit the 2025 Driver! It will be a game changer in regard to fitting! If James was in the know he would have already seen it!
The driver will be a game changer or you mean the new hosel adapter with more settings? Pretty sure the Dark Speed Adapt isn’t anything ground breaking and just a minimally tweaked dark speed. It’s public domain info at this point the pictures are already on USGA conforming club list
It's called "Adapt"!!!
The darkspeed is literally the best looking driver this generation. It won that title in many publications. the Darkspeed is gorgeous
Bet you never expected to see a hosel that has 36 positions for adjustments 😂
Hold on... We have already seen the drivers for next year from cobra they are called the DS Adapt and there are 4 of them. All matte black with either grey, red, blue or black accents. Weve known this a while now
Tour Edge looks like its filled that space where Cobra was with F9

The 2025 Pics of the Darkspeed Adept with their new adapter are already all over the internet though 😕
I'd love to see a 440cc head that's forgiving. I realise the engineering would be a challenge but it would be spectacular for those of us who prefer the look of a more compact driver head
Mizuno stg 440 amd tsr 4 are forgiving mate try them used both
Going to be tough (at least in the US) to beat the $400 Tour Edge drivers
Even better when they go on sale
Light speed!
If Cobra made a mini driver and sold it for less, bright yellow paint on head and grip.
When is the new ping driver debuting?
You can't have a premium price point and then in less than 2 years sell at half the price. The aerojet is selling for £200 now. I know not many consider resale value when buying the latest driver but it says alot about a brand.
After watching this there is a cobra speedzone at my local golf store for $125. I want to go buy it now
Great price
Cobra made a massive impact in the market because they were 150 quid cheaper and just as good
But now they're almost as good and the same price
There's a reason Cobra clubs plummet in the 2nd hand market
Hardly anyone really buys them
Also they need to bring the rails back on the fairways...they make them with rails for tour players
I will keep my Radspeed XB until I quit golf because I love it. The new 2025 models are called DS Adapt which, to be frank, is a bit lame.
Better make a new LTDx with a CNC milled face.
All brands OEM need 3 models that's it
The F9 was called the ‘F9 speed back’…….so we had speed in the title back then too!
I think all drivers should be colored what we want.
I heard a qi35 is coming 🤔
Refresh the F9 and name it the F925
I will not be dipping into the new releases as I just (yesterday) replaced the LTDx with a Mizuno ST-Z 220
The new driver is the Cobra adapt not going back
Edit: Cobra ADAPT
Ltdx LS is the longest driver ive ever played.
Err.......I think it has already been leaked that the 2025 Cobra Driver is called the DS Adapt and it is mostly black.
Nothing wrong with the Aerojet LS either
I predict when he sees the new cobra he will hate it and probably whine and complain about it for 20mins in a video.
New cobra driver has already been leaked.
Cant play golf when at war
I played cobra thru high school and in college. I love their clubs. I played them by choice and at 49 I still play cobra
cheaper yes... yellow absolutely not
