As a Yankee fan, I'm disheartened to see how many people boo'd him. I'm upset he's not with the Yankees anymore, but I wish him all the best. We are hypocritical as fans if we said he 'sold out' to the Mariners, when a big part of the reason we get many of our players is that we give them the best offer.
Even though this is very old. Cano is still one of my favorite players to date and I am a yankee fan with a Mariners Jersey of him. But what pisses me off is that he "didnt feel respect from the organization" which I find VERY hard to believe.
Cano got his bag, but quickly faded into irrelevancy and went from a future Hall of Famer to a fraud who played on a team that wore SpongeBob uniforms.
Reminds me of Albert Belle. He left the Indians to play for the White Sox for more money, and anytime he was back in Clevland, they booed the hell out of him.
+Tyler Owen That's why they're booing him, they knew how good he was. Cano was never loved in NY, however. He's got so much natural talent and the game seemed to come so easy to him so when hot hot dogged it up from time to time, and he did, it pissed people off. He's not an easy player to relate to, like say a Brett Gardner. There's no question though that Robinson Cano is one of the greatest Yankee second baseman of all-time. Maybe the best, he's certainly the best I've seen in my nearly 30 years as a fan and eventhough the antics, like not running hard to first, would drive me nuts, he's still one of my top 10 favorite Yankees ever so I was a little annoyed when he turned down a fair offer from the Yanks. To be fair, plenty of guys have come here from other teams for more money so can't hate. And he's been hard to replace, only an idiot Yankee fan would say the last two years with players like Stephen Drew at 2B were acceptable, hell I'd take Cano's 'disappointing' seasons in Seattle, where he still hit .314 and .287, over what his replacements have given. Hopefully they found something good here in Starlin Castro.
I'm glad Robinson Cano gave the Yankees a taste of their own medicine. It is hilarious when Yankees fans moan about how Cano is sellout because he went to play for more money when they buy most of their team.
actually the yankees offered more per year than the mariners did at 7/175 over 10/240. Cano just wanted those extra 3 years as security when he's in his decline. I don't hate him for it. I completely understand why he took that offer but I'll still boo him. Like Kay said, he's no Tino.
as an avid yankee fan, i am slightly disappointed in the fans in attendance, after all he did for the organization. But to go and say “Oh I wasn’t shown respect” when he got offered $175 million and appropriate years for his age, yeah I didn’t respect that bit at all and that aspect of the Cano situation I understood the boos.
That's what he gets for leaving the Yankees!
people are so full of Bullshyt...... Robinson....aint matter were u go i always will b ur fan
It's amazing how a great player and contributer like Cano is receiving less cheers on his return to the ball park than a player like Alex Rodriguez who used steroids.
Pathetic yankee fans cannot get over the fact that he does not want to play for yankees anymore. They can boo him all they want. He may have struck out but came out with a win. I have so much respect for him now ever since he left the most overrated team in MLB.
lot of empty seats behind home plate. That's sad
Tuesday work night and the weather was in the low 40's. Not gonna get people to go.
It was the top of the first inning, dumbass!!! Some people haven't come, yet!
People were still arriving.
This is like the oposite of when ichiro was traded to the yankees.
Those fans should feel bad for themselves
Booeing a man for taking more money to feed his family , that’s like you saying oh your an asshole to leave your old job when a new job is offering you more money
As a Yankee I always called him cablow because he always blew it
canta vacano
I bood him and not because he took more money to go to the Seattle Mariners. I bood him because he talked trash about the team and fans after he left.
Good that we booed him... Can't even get a hit against a former team of his...
Cano el mejor RD
It's a big difference $$ 240 against only $$ 170 I mean you could buy whole lot more shit a help more people at the same time , I don't doubt he is doing already. That's how it works it's just a business
Why boo him, cuz he left for a bunch of money? Cano was a powerhouse with the yankees and was on the 2009 championship team you fools. I'm a Red Sox fan I saw Cano do plenty of damage while w/ the yankees wow
