@@maximus4765 That is a good point. I just thought of Chief vs. Arbiter since the two are dual protagonists in Halo 2 and could easily have come to blows if things played out differently.
But Noble Six vs. Thel could very well have happened, now that you mention it. Thel commanded the fleet at Reach and is said to like personally leading ground forces in that one Halo 2 terminal. If the circumstances were different, Fleetmaster Thel easily could have been a boss for Reach, so it would be interesting to see who would be likely to win.

Since luck really is impossible to quantify you could explain it simply with every decision one makes gives you a increased chance of positive outcome. Halsey and Cortana couldn't explain it, but I think Chief's intuition and decision making skills is just better than everyone else and that visually translates to him being lucky.

Something to consider perhaps is that the Chief was the lone survivor of his Spartan 2 training group. It's described in universe as an inexplicable luck, but there's also perhaps a survival of the fittest element here. The Chief survived for a reason and I always imagined it to be some combination of grit, better intelligence, superior augmentation adaptation, intuition, and situational awareness. In short, he's still alive because he was the absolute best among his peers - and where others see luck, he's genuinely, simply head and shoulders better than everyone else.

I appreciate the fact that you levelled the playing field so much on each count, and even went to the extent of armour downgrades, No AI assistance, and age balancing to make it fair.
As you say, if they engaged at a date in time, Chief has significant levels of experience on his side, which is an absolute balance against Noble.
This isn't about one having plot armour, or luck, or other spin.
Chief has, with AI assist, canonically slapped an in flight missile out of the way when he was still "young" comparatively, wheras I don't believe any similar examples exist for any of Noble's generations of such an extreme event.
Pretty much each Spartan of Chief's generation ended up specialising in one way or another, be it agility, speed, strength, or other ways.
Chief was, I believe, described even by Halsey as "Average", as in he didn't end up with any specialisation beyond his drive to win.

@@lionbolt2136 Chief is basically a Jack of All Trades. He's good in all areas with extensive combat experience, but excels in no area. He's a great shot, but Linda has him beat with sniping, he's pretty fast, but Kelly is crazy quick and nimble, he's very strong, but both Sam and Jorge are noticeably stronger. And when it comes to intellect, Chief is tactically smart and pretty intuitive, but even Kat is an egg-headed spartan, and Chief has been caught off guard on multiple occasions, one time almost resulted in him being infected by the Flood. So in summary, Chief is good in all areas, but excels in none. Never underestimate that quality though.

@@anthonyespiricueta7493 Thanks for sharing, I'm aware of that already, I'm talking about an instance in the books where chief is thinking about Blue Team and is specifically thinking about Fred. The book states that in Chief's opinion Fred is actually a better/equal team leader and a better tactician, and his combat abilities are equal to or greater than his own , however Fred almost always comes in second place right behind Chief. Chief believes this is a conscious choice on Fred's part as Fred doesn't like being in command and doesn't like the attention that comes with being first place in everything. @NapalmZ88 ok, let me unpack some of this. Their augmentations were not better. They were SAFER and used better technology, but that didn't make them more effective than the augmentations of the S2s. Second, the term hyperlethal doesn't mean anything because it is a nonsense term made up to prop up Noble 6. There are half a dozen S2s with feats that are on par with Master Chief but they didn't get the designation because it doesnt exist outside of the Reach game and thr promotional material for the reach game.
On that same note, you mention 6s feats. Please tell me what they are specifically without reference to Reach or its promotional material and nothing vague like "he made entire milita groups dissappear. He was a Saber pilot. " I could pull out a dozen novels and give you canon feats from master Chief and again other spartan 2s.
Also, cat2s were labeled similar to S2s based on genetic markers, not ability. And you're also incorrect about the number of S3s left. The majority of gamma company survived the covenant war and were operational til somewhere between the events of Halo 4 and 5. Atleast 100 of them let's estimate.

The "worst" spartan 2 would still be a cut above any other generation, unless you somehow levelled the playing field with technology. Well yeah, he was just dialing it back and forth so that when combating, they're both as evenly matched as possible, which puts Chief younger and in armor he no longer wears just to give 6 a chance. In the year 2552, Chief fighting Noble 6 is a hands down Chief wins situation, he has the experience, the augment adaptation from years of fighting as a Spartan (the augments, or at least some of them, were said to become stronger as the Spartan aged), and overall just the technology advantage since he can wear full MJOLNIR armor where as I'm uncertain if Noble 6 can wear more than just SPI grade armor. The Mark V [B] (and the lineage of armor specs that followed it) was supposed to be the first attempt at putting Spartan 3's in MJOLNIR grade armor iirc.
There has been debates of whether or not Spartan 3's were already wearing MJOLNIR grade armor and while it sounds correct, the whole point of S-III's was to make cheaper Spartans, which meant putting them in cheaper armor, hence SPI. MJOLNIR armor usually costs a lot more than just an arm and a leg to make even 1 set, so if S-III's did have MJOLNIR grade armor, it's probably stripped of everything that makes it so renowned.

CAT2 were given Mark V(b) , which is literally identical to Mk4, with the addition of test bedding energy shields and armor abilities. Given that S3 augmentations and training are said to be superior to that of S2 (Kurt said as much), a fully matured CAT2 Spartan 3 will be superior to your average Spartan 2. Pretty good comparison. Ultimately the true answer is 'it depends on the circumstances', but that doesn't make for much of a discussion. You took the smart route when it comes to trying to compare two fighters, which is to take them in their absolute most objective state, but if it were ever a real matter of what happens in an actual fight, it'd just depend. They're too close in skill (which is what matters more than augmentations and armor in an actual fight with weapons and armor) to say that their fight would be anything less than determined exclusively by how it goes down.

On paper and logic, Master Chief wins because he is an upgraded version of Noble 6. But there is one thing you can never quantify is someone’s ability to persevere even when the odds are stacked up against them. If you play the metal gear solid games, that is why solid snake beats people who are superior than him because he doesn’t give up and very resourceful. In closing, my heart goes to Noble 6 but my brain goes to Master Chief. I like Noble 6 as a character more.

One factor that I think deserves more recognition is that S2s were trained to primarily face an opponent who was known to be physically, intellectually, and tactically inferior (Insurrectionists). Though S3s had 2yrs less training. They were recruited and trained to defeat an opponent who was known to be physically, technologically, and militarily superior (Covenant).
It is also worth noting that Curt had ONI access to mission and military records. This means that, in addition to having been trained under the man who trained MC in a facility that was directly commanded by a S2 who possessed firsthand experience of MC's pros & cons in battle, N6 would have potentially had years to study and account for all of the aforementioned differences between he and MC.
In a time & reality warped scenario where MC and N6 are approximately the same age and are - more or less - equally armed, I don't think that this is a clear-cut fight. MC likely wins in most simulations. But at 25, MC is making the history that has been programmed into N6 since he was 9yrs old. In the infamous words of the 1980s GI Joe cartoon, "Knowing is half the battle."

@@SchneeflockeMonsoon I've agreed on this for a while. It's a far more interesting comparison. There are lore feats for Guardians which no Spartan could replicate, even physically (Some titans may actually be physically stronger, off the top of my head), but I do not think any one Guardian comprises the complete physical and psychological package a Spartan offers. Take away their paracausal abilities, and I think they start to lose in most engagements. Titans are strong, for instance, but are they fast? Warlocks are smart, but can they flip a tank with their hands? Hunters are sneaky, but can they go from slitting a throat to throwing a telephone pole with a speartip into a giant hulking monster charging straight at them hard enough to clothesline it to death? I'm also not sure any Guardian can quite match the reaction times Spartans are known to exhibit. Perhaps there's a feat somewhere in the tomes of lore Destiny has which I've overlooked, but they seem to be much closer to human baseline in that area.
Then you have intangibles. Smart AIs in the SNI vs. the Ghosts, for instance. There isn't a clear-cut answer on these things, either way, especially when you factor in things like how Spartans are highly effective in teams, but tend to offer a more complete skillset than a Guardian would have alone (Which is not to say they aren't incredibly deadly alone, just that they're more specialized), but Guardians are intended to fight in teams and have complimentary skillsets which asymmetrically scale, probably more so than the level of benefit Spartans have from working together (Which, again, is not to say there is _no_ benefit, just less in relative terms). Then you have other factors like how durable or powerful or flexible certain pieces of technology are. One thing a _lot_ of comparisons tend to overlook is the exact level of firepower available to each side. People tend to simply gloss it over and assume they're roughly comparable, but for instance, what if one side uses weapons capable of punching right through a fully-charged MJOLNIR's shields, suit, and occupant, or the other side has peashooters the shields would barely notice? One cannot simply take these things for granted, they need feats and measurements done. It would require an _extensive_ breakdown of lore to perform a cross-series analysis.
Destiny is paradoxically a universe where humanity is far worse off than it was even in the darkest chapters of the Human-Covenant War and the Created Conflict, but a lack of extrasolar colonies or the FTL capabilities needed to make them notwithstanding (And it seems like the technology and infrastructure to make this happen exists, but 40K-ish space horrors simply prevent easy departure from Sol), but where a lot of humanity's tech is significantly more advanced, and potentially more powerful to boot. Shields and directed energy weapons took decades of research and incredible sacrifices for the UNSC to obtain even in a very limited fashion, while in the Destiny universe, they came up with them before first contact with hostile alien races ever took place, just as one example. (Up to and including weaponizing black holes. In man-portable rifles. Some of those feats are _very_ crazy, more so than people not deeply immersed in Destiny's lore would realize.) I do not recall seeing anything exactly equivalent to a MAC weapon in Destiny, though there are certainly weapons which could be comparable or even far greater in destructive power. They're just rarely used so we don't have as much information on them either way. Their tactical utility, ease of manufacture, ease of deployment, ease of use, uptime, etc. On the other hand, humanity managed to bounce back and even start recolonizing in Halo, with them eventually managing to terraform and begin to resettle Reach a few decades after the events of the series to date. In Destiny, while recent events have seen humanity defeat even galactic or possibly extragalactic empires, it has struggled to regain lost territory since existential threats keep getting in the way. Installation00 would need help. Perhaps a collab with My Name Is Byf, or Myelin Games? He needs a detailed understanding of the lore and the only way to get that quickly is to ask the foremost experts on it.

@schneeflockemonsoon4224 Unless a spartan can obtain a paracausal infused bullet they ain't killing a guardian.
They could probably kill the physical body but the ghost is a whole other question, only 2 ways to kill the ghost, paracausal bullet or sheer strength to crush it (which tbh this could actually factor into the Spartans having a higher chance)
Only issue is the Spartans wouldn't know this, as it would be their first time fighting a guardian and wouldn't know the ghosts purpose until it resurrects the guardian giving the guardian the chance to fight back with renewed knowledge of their opponent.
Plus guardian have access to weaponry far superior to that of what a Spartans holds, and let's not forget that the moment they pop their super, the tide of battle could easily change.
It's a very rough match for a spartan if you ask me, but I won't lie, it would be an interesting fight.

    1. 6 was a "Cat II S-II" actually was called a SPARTAN-III of Beta Company, hence why his Serial number is SIERRA-B312 The only difference between Alpha Beta and Gamma companies was Gamma had an aggression enhancement and Alpha was older with more field training.
    2. If Chief is gonna use the Mark V you want to give him the MA5B Assault Rifle with 60 round capacity and the M6D Magnum with HE .50 cal rounds. To balance it I would replace S-B312's M6G with an M392 DMR, while it shoots the same rounds as an Assault rifle it has more power to it. With Both chief's pistol and 6's DMR clearing Shields with 4 shots.
Everything else was peak but with everything I said above it wouldn't have changed the outcome. Besides, if the two ran a test on the Wargames Simulator... well... live rounds would have been used anyway.

I would take into account the kind of training they both received as well. Chief was trained as a standard spartan 2 for the most part. Six was separated for being exceptional and given additional training as well as whatever ONI gave him to be a "hitman" basically. One trained to work in a team for the most part and the other trained to work alone for the most part. If you look at their training it would broken down very simply be an assassin vs a commando. 1v1 I would say a clear win on Sixs part if they're almost even everywhere else like was shown in the rest of the video.
