I could watch hours of this on-set stuff. You get so immersed in the show and the characters, you forget they were actors on sets with full film crews all around them, not to mention a live audience. So envious of the ones that got to see episodes being shot. Television history.
+alex kanyima The soundstage is actually quite large. Seinfeld shot on Stage 9 which is 200 feet by 110 feet. It's the sets that can be small. Seinfeld used a lot of sets in each episodes.
Maiq TheLiar So true. It is a JOB. And although you are a 'technician' or an 'artist' or a 'creative' - you still have crazy deadlines to meet - and people get upset when Kramer gets pissed off on bloopers. How'd you like to stay after work for hours just because you get the giggles? The unions love the giggles. The film companies (and some actors) don't.
How the apartment and diner turn into flats in a studio once the camera zooms way out is amazing. I'm so immersed in the show I forget it's basically a stage play for television.
when I first moved to LA in 96 some guy with a clipboard offered me free tickets to a taping of Seinfeld. I thought it was a scam so I said no...damn I regret that one!!
stingray1964 I did a few shows as a temp when I came out here, around the same time. Roseanne had a talk show, Bill Cosby was doing Kids say the. Darnedest Things, and the was this mock talk show called Night Stand. I saw Eartha Kitt flying around the studio with Roseanne.
I agree. This is the only thing on UA-cam I have found that shows footage of the series being filmed. There are many videos on YT that have been ripped from the show's DVD extras featuring people talking about the making of the show (Inside Looks, bloopers, etc), but this video is a gem in that it's like being a fly on the wall at NBC when the show was being made. It's just a taste, and I'm not sure who shot this or for what purpose (the zooming in on actors is a little odd to me), but I wish there had been more of this.
They basically only had two different directors during the entire run of the show, and they picked the kind of people they wanted to work with. In particular, everybody really enjoyed working with the second director: Andy Ackerman.
@muchohumptyhump It's "New York Street" on the backlot of CBS Studio Center in Studio City, CA. Seinfeld filmed on Stage 9, two stages over from New York Street.
This must have been from the early years of the show. They used the larger Panavision cameras the first year or two and then switched to the smaller Panaflex cameras.
If anyone ever believed that the Seinfeld show's "New York Street" was an actual location (and in NYC), I'd like to sell them some magic beans. The studio used this area of the backlot many times during the nine seasons, sometimes dressing it like winter time if the script required it.
This is very cool stuff, getting the BTS view, and makes one realize how hard it is to produce a TV show, much less a good one. Reminds me why I never became an actor. Well, that and having a face for radio. And no acting ability.
Does anyone know what happened to the 2 hour compilation of these scenes and bloopers that were in hd in better FPS? Did it get taken down bc this shows up in my watched video history than the video I actually watched
You'd watched my video at one time, silly, AS WELL as this 'HD in better FPS' clip as you describe (not my post) - was probably ripped from the DVD. THIS clip was sourced from an old NTSC NBC feed - if you know what that is. So because that was taken down, "IT'S GONE!!!" "IT BURNED!!!!"...."Oh, My!"
Jerry is usually spot on with his material but a couple of times I called foul on him, the Golf ball bit about hitting people's heads was weak, I forget what episode it was and no it wasn't the Marine Biologist, some other episode, I think he was talking about ppl throwing rocks into the crowd too, and the same with this thing about not eating canned fruit, that's weak, in actuality, I can picture Jerry saying "why NOT to eat canned fruit?!, it's there! it's just as good, maybe not as fresh but still good, and for a whole can you get it all sliced up already! and half the price!" but this particular video is great, this stuff is easily consumed, i slurp it down like a wet noodle
grometmate no. Seinfeld used a combination of Studio Audience and Laugh Track. They only had a studio audience for Jerry's Apartment and The Cafe since those were the two main sets. This all started with the episode the The Parking Garage
NO. They are using the famous "New York Street" in the backlot at CBS Studio Center in Studio City, CA - where "Central Park" is too. It's all about the camera angles and set dressing. Do a Google Maps aerial...
If you put some funny bits in you could loosely call it a weak comedy. God it is pathetic the tv equivalent of Kiss, all wrapping and no content. Keep it in America.

It was shot In front of a live studio audience, , but the space was small
+alex kanyima The soundstage is actually quite large. Seinfeld shot on Stage 9 which is 200 feet by 110 feet. It's the sets that can be small. Seinfeld used a lot of sets in each episodes.
norelco pc then why we hear during season 1 to 7 a legit live studio audience, and after season 8 and 9 laugh track ?
+alex kanyima That has nothing to do with what I just posted.
norelco pc it is
The magic of film/TV production. People think this stuff is easy but IT IS NOT.

+MUSICOM PRODUCTIONS so if you live film, will you add me on instagram? @cinematicjerk
MUSICOM PRODUCTIONS exactly, people don’t realize that you’re working 17 hours a day for a production that doesn’t give a damn about you
Don't think anyone thinks it's easy
@@Seeyoulater98 lmao right? Nobody thinks this is easy, as far as I know
I never get tired watching Seinfeld, I can watch the reruns with my granddaughter everyday I never laughed so hard, just love the cast so well picked.
So so well picked
Jason Alexander looks so good with that hair piece.
I feel like they should’ve done more episodes with his full hair before Elaine decided to flip and throw it out of the window
I thought so too.
RIGHT

ouch
Was working in the US in Chicago one summer and had tickets for Jerry Springer for Sept 12th 2001..... the rest is history 😕
😮😢
Still could have been one scam..
I wish I had one of those Seinfeld jackets, that the crew member was wearing at the beginning of this clip.
Can easily get it made in china
@@Profile.4 which site?
Me too. I need to use it to get out of jury duty.
Man this is amazing. Wish there were more of these.
I wish I was there
but I wasn't even alive that year.
There's something happening right now that years from now you will wish you were there for. The trick is to find it.
MAN THIS IS GOLD !
Gold Jerry... gold
Tight! I could watch hours of behind the scenes stuff, no more?

I need way more of the last scene omg
This is great. I love Larry's Yankee jacket.
It must have been a challenge being the director when Larry David was on the set.
Seinfeld filmed on Stage 9, two stages over from New York Street.
this is cool I've never seen this before!
This was awesome.
just a random day 20 years ago...
Watching Jason play Larry with Larry right there on set. Lol
This must have been from the early years of the show. They used the larger Panavision cameras the first year or two and then switched to the smaller Panaflex cameras.
Is that homeless guy who wouldn't give kramer the Tupperware back the same guy who stole the rickshaw?
He's from real genius
I think it's the same guy that saw Elaine mannequin when g-string and pointed something something
he’s also the one who wore George’s tupet after Elaine throws it out the window
You mean RUSTY?
Its also uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite
They kept the best for the last and didn’t show it in its entirety. I wanted to see more of Jackie the best attorney!
The Jackie attorney bits were gold. So tongue in cheek. Brilliant stuff . Light years ahead of "Friends" , which was so predictable in every scene.
it's a 'street' on the studio backlot
cosmo Kramer Elaine benes George Costanza and jerry Seinfeld applause 👏 3:56 happy new year 🎆 🌁🌇🌆 everyone 2023
There are pictures on the wall beyond the kitchen cabinets you never see in the shot.
wow 4 cameras in the studio.
It's a backlot. Two reasons: There are no cars in it, and the end of the building is clearly just a painting, only they don't show the end that often.
If anyone ever believed that the Seinfeld show's "New York Street" was an actual location (and in NYC), I'd like to sell them some magic beans. The studio used this area of the backlot many times during the nine seasons, sometimes dressing it like winter time if the script required it.
5:05 They shot "The Pie" just 8 days before it aired? It looks like the slate says 2/9/94 when the episode aired on 2/17/1994
yes I agree thank god it was filmed in panavison, and panavision is a pretty obviousns standard in film since it was invented
I don't think movie making is as "glamorous" as many people think. However, the paychecks would be nice!
This is cool. I wish whoever was filming would have filmed more of the behind the scenes rather than zooming in to the acting though.
I think that was their job
@@JC20XX wow, 11 years ago.
I could watch this stuff for hours. Where do I find more!?!!
UA-cam
Is that "Een" in the background @ 3:23 ?
He was the "Bennett Green" (I Love Lucy) of Seinfeld...
Cool
love seeing larry walking around in the fg lol
Who's the putz in the Yankees jacket? It curbed my enthusiasm for the segment
The E.P., Mr. Two First Names who stops filming when B&H closes....
Would love this in HD.
I wish I would've been a regular on seinfeld.

Behind the scenes is better. Lasts longer too...
Thanks man!
Rick Owens model walks on at 4:07
افضل مسلسل شهده التاريخ 👏🏻
5:45 There's one guy looking into each camera and one guy touching the camera on the left side. What's the camera-toucher doing?
Making the adjustments and assisting the cameraman with his position. The cameraman has enough on his plate keeping frame....
I want that job that snaps the action thingy shut...
Which episode is this where Kramer gives his Tupperware to the homeless guy?
the Beard
It was built for the show
I just knew that they use film!
@BLEEMORALEST I mean when I saw the film holder on the big camera.
Does anyone know what happened to the 2 hour compilation of these scenes and bloopers that were in hd in better FPS? Did it get taken down bc this shows up in my watched video history than the video I actually watched

Exactly. A day of filming is not a party.
