Welcome to the original source of the DeBarge sound. The lead singer on this song is the oldest sibling to the group DeBarge. His name was Bobby. His brother Tommy was in Switch also. Another member of Switch was, Phillip Ingram, his brother was James Ingram; who you have reacted to also, "One Hundred Ways." The reason the group was called Switch was because during a performance they were constantly switching positions of who was singing lead and they switched up on the instruments also. The person who named them was Jermaine Jackson, brother to MJ and Janet.❤❤❤❤😂
The only thing I knew was this was the eldest Debarge brothers’ (Bobby) group. I didn’t know anything else- except for who JJ and JI are. Thanks for sharing! ❤
Correction, Bobby was one of the lead singer's in the group Switch and the eldest brother in the Debarge family. El Debarge was the lead singer in the group Debarge. Bobby and Tommy was not apart of the group Debarge it was the younger siblings although Bobby did sing on one of their later albums he was not part of the ORIGINAL Debarge group. It was El, Bunny, Mark, Randy and James that made up the group! Bobby and Tommy Debarge will forever be known as members of Switch!
Staying with the Jackson reference. Jermaine and then wife Hazel Jackson produced this album along with some others. James Debarge was married to Janet Jackson. Can't believe you guys finally got around to Switch. Prior to this release, Switch sang on a similar song of Jermaine's titled "You need to be loved." Worth a listen.
Their best song is "I call your name." Bobby DeBarge has an incredible voice. It also has El DeBarge on the background vocals. He was only 17 at the time.
Two of the Debarge family are in this fantastic group- Bobby singing lead, Tommy on bass guitar. My sister wore their album out! Another great song is I Call Your Name. Their brother El Debarge of the group Debarge still performs some Switch songs to this day.
@@chantal6076 Yes. I was there from the beginning too. I have their first four albums with Bobby. My favorite album is "Switch II" with "Best Beat In Town" and "I Call Your name". The entire album is fantastic, and i'd like to see Rob Squad do more of their songs.

You HAVE to react to "I Call Your Name" by Switch. Bobby DeBarge's vocals are so beautiful, may he RIP. They got their name, Switch, from how each member could change their roles. If you told them all to switch up their places in the band they'd never lose a step. The bass player could play piano. The piano player could play drums. The drummer could sing, etc.

Hey guys the falsetto is the older brother of the debarge group. The classic Switch is I Call Your Name...dude the fdalsettos are out of this world and the harmonies are mind blowing...
Switch were originally called White Heat, who released an album produced by Barry White. When they became Switch, Jermaine Jackson (from The Jackson 5) got the band and sibling group DeBarge record deals at Motown. Jermaine wrote & produced a few of Switch's songs and members of the group were session musicians on a couple of Jermaine's solo albums in the late 1970s.
Great song! Yes, Bobby DeBarge, one of the BEST falsetto voices of all time. Sadly, gone way too soon! Switch had ALL of the talent in the world! It's too bad that tragedy made this an "Unsung" group. Check out "I Wanna Be Closer" which features Bobby's fabulous falsetto and Phillip Ingram's (late singer James Ingram's younger brother) smooth voice! Classic Soul Music! Killer sax! The instrumentation and vocals are legendary! 🪩😊👏🏾♬🎤🎶🎸🥁🎷🎹💯
