I just watched Weathering With You an hour ago and I liked it but not as much as Kimi No Na Wa. The animations of Weathering With You is great but the plot just didn’t hit me like a storm. I’m still left with a lot of questions.
Yea, even though the graphics are certainly outstanding compared to Kimi No Na Wa. But still, i prefer Kimi No Na Wa's storyline and plot. I dunno even though i've felt excitement in this movie but nothing beats the feeling you got when the first time you have watched Kimi No Na Wa.
But overall they are 2 separate movies made by the same animator, still a great movie though.
This movie got me curious at the end but Kimi No Na Wa was way more satisfying. 😊😊

Taki and mitsuha were in there period.
Perfect movie change my mind
Third mistake: the movie had no accurate explanation of how Taki and Mitsuha’s reunion was a sunny afternoon but that moment was during the flooding of Tokyo. Nice movie, but Your Name is still the best.

Actually, Shinkai just made a 2019 version of Your Name. No hate, it’s a nice movie but I believe that Shinkai could’ve done a better job and do a newer plot this time.

Just came out in Australia and I REALLY enjoyed it. Suga (manager) was quite a big part and I wish Nagi was a bigger part as well. I think Japanese people were a little conflicted by the theme of criminality in an anime after Your Name was so family friendly. These confronting scenes in Weathering With You were almost like a substitution for a major plot twist and I’m not sure whether it worked 100%. Any opinions??
The Your Name Easter eggs were such an amazing part of the film, no matter how small, it’s fantastic to see both movies in the same cinematic universe. If anything though, Shinkai is prompting even more comparisons of the two films with these inserts.
In my opinion, the whole movie is a contradict to a japanese ideal life (especially the ending), i just wish that shinkai portrayed tokyo more gruesome so the ending could be justified enough

Your name is definitely better than weathering with you. However, that doesn't mean it's bad. Weathering with you is anything BUT! it's amazing and heartfelt and still made me shed some tears

When I first saw weathering with you, I had a feeling they were gonna reference your name, but my theory was totally wrong xD this was before I saw Taki and Mitsuha, but when I found out Hodaka ran away from his home, I thought in the ending there would be a twist where they did something like Hodaka finding out “His home town he ran away from got hit by an asteroid” But I love this ending a lot more than my theory
Weathering with you is great as a solo film, But it just can’t compete with Your Name(my opinion)

I feel the rainy theme too, I came to Tokyo for the first time during this rain storm to study abroad. It felt like the nature was advertising the movie.

The story is simple, but it's B E A U T I F U L . This was just released yesterday here in the 🇵🇭, and for a wednesday showing, the theatre was really packed. It's absolutely worth it.

I think kimi no nowa is the best anime movie everytime I watched kimi no nawa I always crying but in the other hand I watched weathering with you but I didn't get the felling that I watch in kimi no nawa catterall in the ending..

I watched this a couple days ago in cinema. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU GO WATCH IT. Imo it wasnt as tear jerking but i think that is only a small aspect of what makes Shinkai movies amazing. All in all i loved it, an amazing watch.
Grand Escape is the best song in the whole soundtrack in my opinion.

I just watched it yesterday. I really need to rewatch it to see if I like it better than Your Name. But for now, I think I liked Your Name better. But the animation in this movie was more stunning, just the ending felt a little rushed imo and I didn't feel the gut-wrenching plot twist like I did in Your Name.

This is so damn worth watching. Your tears and money won't go wasted.
Also, just be prepared as this anime talks about how CRUEL reality is and totally illustrated that perfectly imo. On the other hand, it also talks about appreciating every damn little things you get in life and people around you. (if you love someone, just fucking tell them! & love knows no boundaries)

My friends and I had the privilege to watch it in the cinema and we absolutely loved it. I'm going to have to say that it's the best anime movie I've ever seen, I love the ghibli films but, tenki no ko really got me feeling so many emotions in one movie. Definitely a must watch

Saw it yesterday and not disappointed but I thought Your Name has more feeling in it. I like the cameos of a couple characters and now wonder when this takes place. Will try to see it again but it already took me about 2 weeks to see it lol

Yes you are right, I am split down the middle unable to pick a better one but a movie with no huge plot twist was something different and refreshing for me :)

WWY sound track is great but not iconic, but it really gives you the vibes
YN has iconic songs that really hit, like ZZZ
To simply put, weathering with you plot is light.
If you didn't expect anything, it might be great.
But if you expect something, or you watch it with kimi no nawa (and other of shinkai's work) on your mind, you might find this story is not as best as his other's movie.
Tbh I was worried about another twist in this movie, which is why I was debating if I should watch, but you said nothing like that happens so we're all good here
