I fly mostly rc and cl, but a ff plane that's trimmed and flown properly is a work of art. If everybody did things like this the world would be a better place.
There is just something so amazing about watching a model climb skyward with the sun on the horizon at day break in summer. Dead calm air, and the quiet of civilization.
Tom your videos just get better and better. Being an old sailplane pilot, I have to admit the Schweitzer really touched a piece of my heart. It's beautiful!❤️🙏
There is such a calming and beautiful felling about the free flight flying, thanks and was amazing to see with the sun coming up and the fog in the back ground.
Wow! That A-1 Spad even flies scale. Playing danger close to the ground supporting the grunts on the ground I suppose. All of these are just beautiful.
That's a great collection of airplanes, great to see them flying. I was chuffed to see a Korda Victory in there. It's an ungainly looking thing, but they fly great. Carry on.
These are all beautiful. The Dyna Moe is a familiar plane to me, from your previous films, absolutely gorgeous. This Skokie too looks like a real goer. Many thanks to all involved, hoping the day was as enjoyable as this film was to watch! 👍
As a retired BMFA examiner (rc fixed wing) I found this to be absolutely stunning. To trim and fly with no means of control in the air is incredible and the build quality superb. Thank you for sharing. Regards
I really enjoy your build videos. I built balsa planes as a kid in the 60s and 70s but mostly gas powered, control-line planes we flew at the baseball field. It was fun! 😊 All the best and keep up the good work. * Liked & Subscribed.
What a fantastic flying site, would love to go there one day. Can you explain a little more about the kite reel and towing technique please. I would like to try this. Thank you.
I have been to numerous free flight events over 70+ years and hope to be at Muncie in a few weeks but have never heard any musical accompaniment. I guess I have no ear for music. The real sounds of a contest are very nice.
Your videos are wonderful distraction from all that's going on in the world. Im very tempted to get back to aeromodelling again after 50 years or so! Your reference to Ukraine in Dyna-Moe is noted and appreciated.
I like the idea of radio-assisted free-flight: a model that could be trimmed and flown as free flight, but with single-channel RC on the rudder, so that it can avoid trees and pylons, and be brought in to land somewhere nearby (not in another field, full of angry cows).
Love your vids. I’d love to get up to Wawa to fly sometime. New to the entire balsa free flight game but loving it. Flew just once in Hammonton with our club and I’m hooked.
...to me is not the models that inpress me, is the field and the conditions... I moved to Normandy, here the wind is 50 mph year round and it rains 300 days a year... :-) I'm envious!
All from a few sticks of balsa, some tissue paper, rubber strip, a bit of bent piano wire and some injection *moulded/molded plastic. *Delete as appropriated depending upon which side of the pond you are.
Just curious, some models are set to circle CW and others CCW. Is there a reason and would the torque from the prop have influence? And by the way, outstanding work! Just love to see this hobby in perfection.
Thx, David. Torque always wants to pull the model to the left, but I usually try to go against it and fly to the right. I've been able to get a better climb that way. But sometimes the model won't have it, so u simply need to listen to it, and go left. My Seafire was such a bird. Watch her 2nd & 3rd trim sessions on the channel and you'll see the difference.
Asking a question, do you use additional anchor hole for the winding of rubber like the same thing holding back end of rubber? Where do you get winding tools, looks like old egg beater drill
I'm not sure that I understand the question. There are holes on the side of the rear fuselage to accept the rear motor peg, which holds the rubber. Those are the only holes that are needed. Winders can be purchased from various sources. I'd suggest Easy Built Models or Volare Products. The links are in the film description above. Making your own from a hand drill or egg beater would be a major challenge...but many tried for sure, long ago.
One word, masterpiece!! I especially love, how you put on your airplane Ukrainian Tryzub!! It is necessary to support Ukraine, my girlfriend, that I am everyday writing to, is from UA, but now she didn't answer me for a longer time, I hope she isn't in danger, I am praying for her🙏 By the way, I have in plan special airplane model with KNO3 rocket engine, and minicam on the board. I have made the airplane today, engine will be done in monday as like as me will be delivered camera. I still love to make airplane models, Greetings, airplane lover Jarda from Czechia!😄 PS: we can sometimes discuss on instagram, but that is just my idea... Have a nice day!🙂

Amen to that.
I full heartedly agree
Thx for the comments. I hear this from so many. We must be onto something!
@@maxfliart - Oh, you are onto something, no doubt about that.
Thanks for making & posting these videos, I know it's a lot of work.
Yes, indeed.
There is just something so amazing about watching a model climb skyward with the sun on the horizon at day break in summer. Dead calm air, and the quiet of civilization.
With all the horrible news these days, it is so wonderful that you offer these few moments of quiet beauty. Please keep up the good work.
The purest form of model aircraft building and flying: free flight.
Imagination loosed!!
Thank you for sharing your work, all the material is excellent! (From Argentina)
Tom your videos just get better and better. Being an old sailplane pilot, I have to admit the Schweitzer really touched a piece of my heart. It's beautiful!❤️🙏
pure poetry, as always, Tom!
There is such a calming and beautiful felling about the free flight flying, thanks and was amazing to see with the sun coming up and the fog in the back ground.
Sun shining through a pretty model against a beautiful sky - magical.
Nice to see Mr. Acton, thanks Tom.

The photography here is breathtaking. Thank you!
Beautiful planes and scenary..
Anda selalu membuat pesawat model dengan bentuk yg indah...rapi dan menarik...hormat untuk anda...👍👍
Really nice flight on the Schweizer there, Tom. Beautiful camera work and models, all. Thanks for sharing!

Magnificent video! Looked to be a great days flying for all 👍
Bravo… beautiful plane and flight!
It is make wonder for many peoples bring fly and put big joy! Huzzah!!!
Huh?
Outstanding camera work, aeromodelling in its purist form.
Great video Tom.I loved all of it and looked like a perfect day to do some flying.
All I can say is that I get immense pleasure out of your vids, Tom. Thanks for taking the time to record what you do for posterity.
Thx, Mitch. I enjoy it.
Great video.

Thx, the challenge is very rewarding, and relaxing.
What a marvellous day.
Noel
The great days and models❤️❤️
This is the purist form of aviation ever invented!

Superb !!!
Another gem of a video capturing a full, long day of flying. I enjoyed seeing the wide variety of ships. Kudos to all the flyers!
Doug B
Very nice.
Such a sweet glider flight sir. So happy for you.
Wonderful to see this!
Love your vids! -- I always thought Benes-Mraz Be.60 would make a great flying model - it has really nice lines
Wonderful stuff.
What a fantastic flying site, would love to go there one day. Can you explain a little more about the kite reel and towing technique please. I would like to try this. Thank you.
I love your videos 😎
There’s some very nice planes there
This looks so great, but I bet you’re dealing with bugs and sunburn.
I have been to numerous free flight events over 70+ years and hope to be at Muncie in a few weeks but have never heard any musical accompaniment. I guess I have no ear for music. The real sounds of a contest are very nice.
Yeah, we're looking to wheel a piano onto the field this time around. :-D
Beautiful and peaceful....Moses

Great job guys ,so much fun to watch, love this kind of flying. Maybe flat on your back on a blanket, oops might go to sleep LOL >
I have a Skokie, flies very well. Wish I had an area where I could actually put more then 500 winds in it.
Love your vids. I’d love to get up to Wawa to fly sometime. New to the entire balsa free flight game but loving it. Flew just once in Hammonton with our club and I’m hooked.

I had a 48 inch rubber powered glider as a kid. My dad built it from a keilcraft kit. 1st flight it got into a thermal and was gone. 😢
The Schweitzer is magnificent! What a thing to have brought into the world. How did you make the canopy Tom?
Thanks. Here's a tutorial I made on forming canopies. ua-cam.com/video/fF9r5gnsfjM/v-deo.html

Very Cool 😎 Thomas! The Skokie was especially impressive. Are you using an 10 or 11 inch prop on that bird? A handshake.
Hi Larry. I went with the 10" prop, as required by the Flying Aces Club rules for competition. It works well with this ship.
@@maxfliart Thanks, Thomas! 10" it'll be then. 👍

do you have a sprit of st louis?
No, never built one.
Why are so few of these biplanes?
For you, time must really slow down during these flights. Doesn't it?
U nailed it. Good observation.
