What a beautiful lake, very peaceful and serene. Thank you for the knowledge and insight, looking forward to see how the team has improved this season.

Once I drove through the mountains of Tennessee during autumn. It was like driving through a beautiful painting.
Everywhere all around me were trees the color of Golden Delicious apples.
I'll always remember the way I felt driving through hills of Tennessee.

According to the graph at 0:55 Jordan Elliott is in the bottom left quadrant next to Kevin Givens (just below the horizontal dotted line) and Elliott is just below Maliek Collins (just above the horizontal dotted line). Elliott, GIvens, and Collins all have a lower run defense grade from PFF than Jarvon Hargrave and Arik Armstead.

Armstead was the wrong choice over Buckner years ago.
And I've been saying all along that DJ Jones was our last great run stopper. Good work.

😂 Agree, Niners let role players go, instead of paying up, getting comp picks. But problem, the Niners didn't find replacements for DJ n Ward. They could fill role eith drsft pick. Niners used to build the D-line thru draft. Now, they switched to trading for players or signing FAs to fill positions. Is it because the Niners sre in SB SB window. Need go win now. Draft picks take time to develop. Sometimes they don't. Like Kinlaw or Thomas, etc... Using FAs or trades, you have proven pro abilities vs draft pick which has potential, but not proven pro abilities. Waiting for camp n cuts. Niners may still be able to find vet or rookie DTs. But with all these renegotiate contracts will they still have room for players. Next yr 2025, many players contract need to be renegotiated or traded/release. Brock is the most important player. Without him, the team goes no where. Don't trust Dobbs or Allen.

so why didn't they sign DJ Reader? they let freaking Detroit get him. Look at Jordan Elliott and Maliek Collins on that chart.

Probably because he's currently recovering from a torn quadriceps tendon and is still uncertain when he'll be available but it looks like he wont be available even in almost 2 Months once Training Camp starts since he got injured so late in the Season last Year. The 49ers clearly valued durability quite a bit with all the off Season pickups. Not to mention maybe he didn't even want to come to the 49ers and Detroit is where he wanted to go considering the 49ers probably weren't going to give him that same $22 mill?

Realistically, run defense is not upgraded with new additions and OL is same as last year. Coaching changes and improved schemes and strategies may help, but could be in for a struggle. Why ignore these problem areas in FA and draft,!!

Sounds like MONEYBALL for DL run defense. Creating the ideal NT in the aggregate.

That’s the strangest Hertzsprung-Russell diagram I’ve ever seen.
Careful, Mr. Lombardi, I hear Tennessee is seeing an uptick in alligators. Perhaps not in Nashville waters, but…

I'm sorry David, and I respect you very much, but... the Niner defense has always been the standard, yet the O line is the key upgrade needed. I just watched the O Line Committee on UA-cam, and they don't even have the Niners in the top 10. Sorry, that is a huge issue. You cannot win a SB with a sub 10 O line.

    • @macsetile8716

Agreed with you on the OLine, it’s still not improved. When are they gonna learn?

      Correct! OL 2023 = OL 2024.
OL was swamped in SB with 9 unblocked blitzes per David, and just was overpowered.
DL: As somebody commented, the new players are all below average vs. the run. Problems ahead?

Hi Dave, great show as always. NINERS a DJ Jones Type of player is needed perhaps a Michael Carter type is even better. Niner’s Nose Tackle history is rich, the scout should look at old films. Evan Anderson may fill that bill as Willian Perry or otherwise known, the Refrigerator. Stay well now.

I think Chase young is getting some dirt thrown his way but i dont think enough people appreciate how big the guy is. He demands attention. These Rooks are smarter than the guys from the year before. They're learning and adapting faster. You gotta have some new tricks up your sleeves. SET THE TONE

Kalia Davis, great college player, but I think his legs are too skinny to flourish in the NFL as a NT. Those type of players have tree trunk lower bodies. I just don't see Davis making an impact there. He's a great experiment, and is certainly deserving of praise, but I'm not sure the Niners can use his roster spot when what they really need is a real NT.

First of all, I am glad Eric Armstead is gone. The tackles that they have recently acquired faster at reading the play and getting to the play, which will stop the run. I think you will notice that the speed of their defense is greatly increased the old school Brick wall of lineman is antiquated I believe. Thank you for all the work you do. God bless

@@GeraldDavis-w5u He just got paid 50 million for 2 Years when teams know he has foot problems, idk in what world that's someone who was a bad pick? He just simply couldn't remain healthy consistently and last Year played through injuries in the Playoffs.. I was all for letting him go at the price he wanted but you're going wayyyyyy over the top with unwarranted hate.. I don't think anyone is arguing Buckner is the better player but that trade also opened a TON of salary at the time so who knows what things would look like if we didn't do it. Things aren't just black and white, there's A LOT of grey area you're just kind of casually ignoring.

    • @hype88
      @hype88 3 місяці тому

@@GeraldDavis-w5u They have drafted as good or better then anyone in the NFL overall.. It's not hard to nitpick bad ones for every Franchise (Most others are MUCH worse to say the least). They would have likely got Cousins or someone similar if they didn't get Purdy who would have kept us a Contender (Obviously not nearly as good as Purdy but we wouldn't have fallen completely off either) but the current 49ers FO are clearly the best in the NFL. This is a pretty extreme armchair GM take. All you're doing is pointing out the worst, most obvious picks with zero thought around it. The 2015 Draft was pretty weak overall and especially for DE.. The next DE off the board a few picks later by the Broncos was out of the League by 2018. The following few after that weren't much better. Arik is having a massively better Career then any of those guys. It ended up not being a home run pick obviously but you're going a bit over the top with the hate especially given the circumstances. At the end of the day they have created the clear as day most talented roster in the NFL and that's impossible to do without consistently having great overall Drafts which they've done.

Well Maliek Collins will have to play NT because Hargrave certainly won't. Those 2 salaries dictate they will start.
