From someone who play both games a lot (Me lol): Hwei is truely the Invoker of LoL. But in terms of difficulty, combos and depth of gameplay, he's nowhere near Invoker. - I understood Hwei's kit pretty easily, and after reading it 1 time, I was able to play it correctly in my first game. It's intuitive, and it was pretty easy to combo different spells and obvious which spells to use in combos once you memorize them all (And like I said, after reading them, I memorized them in the first game, they're not complicated). - On the other hand, I tried multiple times to play Invoker, and my brain just melt everytime. The combos are just not easy at all to do, there is a freaking lot of actions to do in a relatively precise order and short time to do something correct. And I'm not even talking about all the active items you have in Dota that you don't have in LoL. Dota heroes are generaly more difficult to master than LoL champions, and have a lot more depth into their gameplay (Some have combos that make harder LoL combos look easy, I'm serious). Of course, there is also easy heroes to play in Dota, but that's why I'm talking generaly. If we only compare the most hard champions/heroes to master from both games, yeah... LoL is far behind in terms of complexity and depth of gameplay/mechanics. I was at first only a LoL player, and found a fair amount of champions hard to play correctly. Once I got used to Dota, and got back in LoL, I was like "Wait... This is supposed to be hard to play/master?". All the combos, the mechanics, everything was just so much more simple than before to me. Now, I actually have a hard time to find champions that I genuinely find hard to play correctly/master. It just show how impressive the difference is between those 2 games in terms of difficulty. And before anyone decide to flame me, I'm gonna say this right away: I'm not saying that LoL being easier than Dota is a bad thing, in any mean. It's good to have both for different tastes and skill limitations (We just don't have the same skill levels, that's a fact, so not everyone can play Dota. So it's good that LoL is an easier game to approach). And I actually think that LoL champions feels generaly better than Dota heroes in terms of gamefeel. They have great chara-designs, and I miss a lot more some champions from LoL than I miss some heroes from Dota (Even tho I personnaly prefer Dota for the rest of the game mechanics honestly. But like I said, it's personnal, I'm not stating that it's better or not). I'm just stating that objectively, LoL is a LOT easier and has less depth than Dota on many aspects (Champions/Heroes, game mechanics, items, etc), that's all.
Yeah Dota is a harder game but LoL is more appealing game if only Valve do more cinematics and marketing stuff for dota then im sure it'll be more interesting competition between LoL and Dota
As someone who has played both games extensively, I completely disagree. Dota 2 is harder macro-wise, but lol involves much more mechanical skill in piloting the characters. Dota 2 is a harder game because there are several mechanics such as creep blocking, elevation, jungle stacking, counter warding, etc, that makes it a profoundly strategic game, but characters are easier: many dota heroes have passive abilities reducing the number of necessary keys to control the hero, and the focus on ability effects makes fights slower and easier mechanically, with a few exceptions such as heroes that involve controlling multiple units at once. League, on the other hand, is extremely fast, focusing on ability combos, insane bursts of damage and reaction times. The player must be able to weave in auto attacks between spell casts (something harder to do in league since the visuals are not so clear in teamfights, and eliminations happen quickly). Another aspect is that lol heroes scale exponentially, so dying once is much worse for the player, and in high levels of play, dying means you already lost your lane. Overall, besides multi-unit heroes and heroes that get a lot of active items in dota, Lol champions require more buttons, more actions per second and better reflexes to play correctly. Lol = action game with strategy Dota 2 = strategy game with action
League is by way harder game just bcs of the player base lil bro if I were to play dota I'd easily get highelo and dota players wouldn't be able to get close to my league rank just because riot's competitive system is way harder and has way more players and u don't know how it feels to play in highelo and how easily u get punished for every small mistake especially as a jungler lol so idk why are lowelos yapping perma when I know that dota's champions are not harder dota is just made so everything is broken and league is by far the harder game u can easily snowball in dota the system is not comparable to league's and every aspect but the compelixity of kits with no purpose like league is just better desinged to keep players in and still have the competitive spirit and not make everything broken LOL :)

They did put a watered down involker into league and it took league players a month to figure out how to combo. He has 10 spells and instead of orbs youl press say Q, then all of his basic abilities change to be his three different Q abilities and you pick one from there. Then his Q goes on cooldown. His ult is a skillshot and if you hit it its an ungodly teamfight slow and nuke. Cool champ but involker still feels more like fingers dancing out a konami code. So far they haven't really had much of an innovative thought on their own, they just polish other ideas and broaden the appeal.
