The fact a character (a carefree and happy character mind you) grieved for another one makes the scene hit harder. Mario also grieved, however he's more on the "sad but wants to comfort others" side as he only lowers his head and hat before cheering up Olivia Edit: Not being deep but had a thought that mario and Olivia both have different ways of grieving. Olivia obviously is just heartbroken and can't hold it back, while mario is heartbroken, but can and will try to hold it back and comfort his friends. just thought I'd add this since I only mentioned how mario grieved in detail. Either way, their reactions really showed how much Bobby meant to them before his sacrifice. RIP Bobby
When Bobby sacrificed himself I was like "okay haha this is a funny Mario game he'll come back" And then the next chapter came. And the next. And the next. Bobby never came. Bobby died for real.
Also, if you go to Shogun Studios after Bobby sacrifices himself if you go to the photo building and take a photo, you’ll see Bobby’s spirit there as well, meaning he never really left your side.
@@nahte123456 I'm pretty sure MODERN paper Mario's (excluding Paper Jam and Sticker Star) have different lore to the OG games. They do have to work around their character restrictions after all

Wow, a character in a paper Mario game with development and a, ya know, actual story, and is actually interesting. If only the modern paper Mario games had more of that.
I was so sad when he died, but if you take a picture at shogun studios you can see him, and Olivia will feel his presence if you interact with the rubble once she is happy again

If you are in a situation where you know you will 100% die if you save someone, do it for 2 people, or at least if the other person will 100% die if you don’t save them immediately. Because if someone is trapped under rubble you still have time to save them. go get some extra help, because the friends that love you will be really sad when you are gone.
When bobby died, I cried. Bobby was the first video game character thatt made me cry. Every time i replay that game and see bobby, it kills me because i know what happens to him.
I still remember when I played sticker star, and at the end Kersti came back. When Heuy sacrificed himself, I thought this would be a trend. Nope, Huey died too. And then the little bit of hope left I had when I opened Origami King was promptly shattered by the death of a cartoon paper bomb exploding himself to save his friend.
People may say that other bob-ombs don't die when they do this, but let me counter with: they also don't blow up massive boulders like this. Bobby probably wanted his fuse so he could put everything he had into saving Olivia, as he couldn't save her otherwise. Bobby could respawn after blowing up, probably, but not like that. Not with an explosion as strong and necessary as that one.
Bobby's death was one of the saddest game deaths ever, I was so sad when he died, I love Bobby. I was actually a bit angry at Nintendo that they killed Bobby, the best Bob-omb ever. Paper Mario is a great game, I love that game

When Bobby sacrificed himself I was like "okay haha this is a funny Mario game he'll come back"
And then the next chapter came.
And the next.
And the next.
Bobby never came.
Bobby died for real.
I hope PMTOK gets another reference in future games, Kind of like Super Paper Mario where all your allies are in portraits.
Surprisingly Bobby dying was the only thing out of the hundreds of games I played that made me cry, just because he was my favorite character
*No, DONT LEAVE ME*
**insert that one batman comic meme**
I cried when he died
And then you're assigned with manning a cannon that shoots Bob-Ombs

Lee's death was sadder
I’d agree IF Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity didn’t exist if you’ve played the game you know the scene I’m talking about
Oooh yeah
Charles from Henry Stickman
@@massive_baby1217 i’ve seen more people laugh at his death, then people who cried
It'd hit a lot harder if...you know...Bombette and Bobbery weren't exploding all the damn time.
The difference are those are special bob-ombs with the inexplicable respawn ability. Bobby is a default bob-omb. Those don't respawn.
@@elin111 Even if you want to buy that, we see in Koopa village in the first game completely normal Bob-ombs explode and are fine.

When they blew up they didn't break, and it's unfair
Yep I agree! I even took a screenshot of Bobby's last words. By memory it is
"Thank you for everything, Mario!"
It was so sad, Paper Mario actually showed an emotion. He hides his eyes sadly when Olivia asks what happened.
Well i would love an official story where the character development and arcs were on the main cast

I cried when Bobby blew up. I played the game a second time and cried a second time.
Your not the only one 😢
i’m going to be honest, that was the first time i cried when playing a game
Same, I went through my dad's entire box of tissues not even a joke😢
I was trying to hold a straight face the whole time, the next day came and found out you can take pictures at shogun studios, I took one and saw his spirit. I lost it then.
Me too
This moment actually had me for a sec in the game. He was such a useful and cool companion
He wasn't very usefull but he was the only one who was with to help you and not for interest and he was the kindest one
Bobby has more character depth than most entire show casts like DBS
This death scene is sadder than anything in the MCU, Change my mind.
No... I don't think I will.
This was sadder then Black Widow and Iron Man combined
I didn't even know the Super Mario franchise would even have sad stories.
That's not super mario, that's paper mario

The paper mario games are better than the normal mario games
All Mario games are good
Funny you say that because origami king is the most recent paper Mario game 😆

Bobby is a hero!! ❤❤
Salute for Bobby!!
I was not ready to cry on this scene when it happened, literally wasn’t ready
Bobby is as sad as most major deaths in gaming history.
R.I.P Bobby he was willing to take his on life for a friend
He will be missed by the community
One word Bombette,
Bomb Omb Creatures actually don't truly die from their explosions, they just pop right back up
Bombette seems to be a special case, Bommy is a normal Bobomb and in this game, Bob-ombs die when exploding
Even mario is begging for a proper party member again
I miss the original Mario characters in the Paper Mario games and Bobby was the only one in awhile to kind of return to that.
To be honest, he was the best party member in the series to me.
I'll admit it. I cried.
I do remember crying over that. I have yet to finish the game. Should really get back to that.
If you haven't, it gets sad at the ending too
Oh man… the feels don’t end with Bobby. Prepare yourself if you decide to continue
When Bobby sacrificed himself, I cried, like actually

Dude that moment in origami king had me balling
Man, saying "subscribe if you love Super Mario" after telling such a sad story is almost comical
Thankq for making me remember the scene and making me sad again 😢
Bobby had amnesia, and his sacrifice left Olivia and Mario with depression…..
Bro I swear when I first experienced this I cried for days. My dad thought I was crazy but he just doesn't know how hard this hit
This story always saddened me for playing the game
You can tell this was the writers being hella pissed at the whole Mario character policy where there can't be any brand new characters.
It's even confirmed that bob-ombs dont Respawn, they are just replaced by another bob-omn after the previous bob-omb has DIED
RIP Bobby. Your sacrifice wont be forgotten
was a great game...but Bobby dying legit made me cry like it was truly a wild twist in the story...
Bro, this broke me
ITS A PAPER MARIO GAME IT ISNT SUPPOSED TO MAKE ME FEEL EMOTIONS
Paper mario continues to have the best charactes and story in the franchise. Though the only really competion is the Maria and Luigi series.
Bobby's death was the saddest death in video game history
Bobbery and Bombette laughing somewhere in the distance
First that one Red Shy Guy in Color Splash, now this...
Bobby bro u will never be forgotten 😭😭
Paper mario has always had these kinda darkish moments
This one was just more grand scale
I was ready for a whole new paper mario adventure but i wasn't ready for the paper cuts it was gonna leave on my heart
That one Shy Guy in the color splash is sadder.
Why does paper Mario have some of the most saddest moments in the entire Mario line
I literally cried a lot while bobby did this and while writing this i miss bobby
Bobby is love, Bobby is life.😢

Feeling when you meet a bomb-om friend in a paper mario then learn too late that it doesnt have plot armor
Extra sad and incredibly noble sacrifice
