2:12 it won't work in India as much. Also most singers like Shreya, Sonu, etc of their league do release their independent albums sometimes; but they themselves are not interested in coming in visuals, or acting in their music videos as they say in their interviews. You have to understand these songs are part of movies, thus they have lyrics that are in context of movie.
Also bitter fact except professional/ trained singers like you and South Asians; no one else understands and appreciate the beauty of complexity and intricacies of Indian singing.

To understand why they don’t have actual singers in music videos… you will have to watch atleast one indian movie. These songs are part of movie plot. Every movie have atleast 5 songs. party song, romantic song, sad song, wedding/festive song and movie ending song. So say for example the movie track is two leads fall for each other then immediately they play the romantic song in bg while the movie plot is still continuing so in this if suddenly Shreya appears then it will be out of plot thing. Then they attend a party then there’s a party song then they are on verge of breakup so here goes sad song then they meet at friends wedding then here comes wedding song and movie ends with a happy song after the plot finishes happily.
So if every song has two singers one female one male and there are 5 songs in a movie that means we will have 10 sudden appearances in middle of movie when the plot is still ongoing with music.
Idk if any of this made sense but I tried my best. I think it will be more easier to understand once you watch one indian movie :)
I agree. But he also mentioned that 2 videos would be better, in which 1 will have just the movie cast, their dance etc to promote the movie. The other video just to record the singer expressions and the way they sing so that we can appreciate that, but not to be included in he movie. True that we already know how great the singers can sing. But the point he has, is that such videos can help the people outside India know who the actual singer is and know their talent.

Sorry to say but in INDIA it doesn't work that way. Even there are many music lovers world wide many Indians are not aware of the singers in India as they are sooo obsessed with the actors. I bet lot of INDIANS are unaware of SHREYA GHOSHAL and her agelity too. People do not even consider Singers , leave about showing them in music video, they are barely tagged in it..

Brother, there is song's and visuals according to story line in the movies that helps to carry forward the storyline of movie that's why India has used dance moves, the story must go forward with song depends on the scenarios but in western culture songs is act or goes like a individual story apart from storyline according to me that's why Indian cinema is depend most of dance moves, actors, then storyline

There's really no reason for shreya to be in all the music videos. She sings so many songs that it's impossible for her to do them all and keep up with her output as a playback singer. Also why would the creators of the movies use more resources to make 2 videos? These videos are to promote the movie first and foremost. They wouldn't split their audience to focus on the singer. If an indian singer wanted to focus on what you recommend they would have to step back from playback singing and do their own music/videos

Independent Music isn't that much popular in India as so much music (4-5 songs per movie atleast) is produced in movies with bigger budgets than some private albums as people not gonna buy albums like in Western countries and US,
but folk music, (village music different to different languages) which is so much popular as the singer performs in the music videos most of the time atleast in Telugu songs.
And also you can't have a independent Music in Hindi, just single language where almost half of the country won't understand because existence of the various languages and they want to listen them in their own language, and it also gives the singers to sing 10's of thousands of songs in their lifetime unlike in the West where mostly they have 20-50 albums in their entire life-span but make hell of a lot more money than indian singers.
PS: People like Music in the Movies because the Lyrics and Music produced have a solid story and emotion behind it which makes us connected to the song and sometimes our own situations In Life unlike Western music where someone is singing a love song or sad song where you don't know why they're singing half the time because you don't the story/ inspiration behind the Lyrics why they wrote what they wrote.
