    Wow, this hotel looks so beautiful-elegant with tranquil surroundings. I can definitely see how the owner justifies the high nightly rate, as it looks like you have the entire place to yourself! Despite you had been away for five years, you are a pro as far as navigating in China is concerned. BTW, nice interview with Alex in iChongqing the other day.🙂

      I'm from China myself. Very few ancient sites are original as most have been damaged or demolished during Cultural Revolution or other political turmoil. What you see nowadays are mostly replicas.

    Very nice! I stayed once at the Peninsula in Beijing and it was a very good hotel. There is many beautiful hotels in China and some of them are quite over the top. I remember one 5 star hotel in Lijiang that had gold plated sinks and toilets. Hopefully you will visit Yunnan - as it's the most scenic province. Enjoy and thanks for the vlog🤗

      @@KajaKubicka I have been to China several times and I don't generally love their food, but I loved it in Yunnan. So many fresh dishes and not deep fried ones. So many dishes with mushrooms, that we - the people from Poland - love.

    Traveling around China is one of the best things you can do, if you have the time to do it of course. You get a better perspective of the country.
    You may not see that many foreign tourists traveling to China anymore, because of all the anti China propaganda going on in western countries. Everyone in western countries now think China is evil. It's unfortunate, but that's the reality of things now.

    I arrived 2 hours earlier than planned at Beijing South High Speed Train Station and decided to change to earlier train it took me around 10 seconds on my handphone ALIPAY (with which I bought the earlier ticket) to do the change with only one question asked: "This train Leaves in 30 minutes, are you sure you have enough time to catch it?"; click "Continue" and Wa La: DONE AND NO CHARGE.

      Chinese residents only need a QR code to board the train and do not need a ticket. I don't know if foreigners are allowed.

    What an experience, the room is a bit too big for me to stay by myself, I would be scared. So tranquil!! I will want to stay there just for the experience but with more people in my room, any mosquitoes? I am super loved by the mosquitoes so anywhere close to water is scary for me, I stayed at a Chinese style hotel in Xian next to the park, that was like 15 years ago fancy hotel right in the middle of the city and there was like near a lake, most high end hotels are fair better than the ones in the West, I stayed at the Ritz in Europe and it doesn’t feel that special, for the price point u get a better deal in Asia especially China

    In the past, foreigners could not directly use ID cards like Chinese people when taking trains, because China has made rapid progress, so now foreigners can directly use passports instead of paper tickets when taking trains.

    Was thinking go to China Feb 2024. But, the airfares from SFO to Hong Kong on premium econ is like $2500.00! It costed $1100.00 back in 2019! This is too expensive! Hopefully Singapore airlines will have better deal on Black Friday. I will take a long route to Hong Kong if I can get discounted tickets😄

    Excellent resort hotel worth $800 per night. May be no European (white people) in sight, but for sure many Asian tourist like Japanese, Korean, Indonesian...they blend well with local. The reason less European tourist because their economic are in bad shape and Air line is so expensive. I used to get cheap flight from North America for about $700 return, now I just paid $2400 return ticket to Shanghai, here I come to China in next month.

    So, you have a wonderful time traveling in China. As a foreigner, how do you purchase train tickets online, pay for Didi Taxi, and eat at restaurants? Do you have WeChat Pay or AliPay to facilitate your phone payment? How do foreigners traveling in China for a few weeks open a bank account, get a phone number, and tie them to WeChat?

      you cannot open a bank account in China if you're only traveling here for a couple of weeks, so therefore you cannot have wechatpay etc :)

    Here in San Francisco, it took the government over 2 years working on 19th Ave road constructions and replacing the water and sewage pipes. It is still not done now and will take another year probably. They are blocking traffic everyday. It would take them 100 years to move the traditional building to another place.

    But a lots of HK people and children go to travel in China right now after 3 years! Most foreigners haven't go to trip in China right now and is a lot of HK and Macau tourist than the foreigners (including Taiwan).travel to China.

    1. Flight cost is three times more expensive than the time before the COVID.
    2. Foreigners can't use phone payment system will make everything much more difficult in China.
    3. Only limited hotels in the city can allow foreigners to stay.

      1. More high speed trains are available than the time before covid. 2. Cash has to be accepted by law, foreigners can always use cash, if rejected, you can file a complaint, the merchants who refused to take cash will be penalized. 3 You’re right, not all hotels want to increase their costs to get the license to serve foreigners, it requires those hotels to maintain higher standard of safety and hygiene. Decades ago, many better hotels didn’t allow local people to stay, but that changed as the economy grows and local people started to have the ability to pay.

      Hotels are a big problem now. I used to book anyway and they always ignored fact that I am foreigner. Then recently they don't allow to stay in hotels at all. I tried old trick few times, but they will cancel anyway. Seems punishment is too high for hosting a foreigner. So, either I need to stay in a tent or on a park bench, or need to plan my trip so that before night time I can get back to some big city.
