I love Sundays at the Chateau because, true to your original vision, you take us to places in France or present cultural aspects of France or Europe. We become armchair travelers. I live not far from a wine growing area in New Zealand that is famous for red wines because the soil, terroir, is stony and the summer is long and dry. It's such a treat to visit and to taste the wines and enjoy a platter of delicious food either beside a roaring fire in the winter or outside under the shade of parasols in the summer. Thank you for the visit.

Why wine glasses are clinked before drinking. You can taste, see, smell, touch wine - that’s four of your senses engaged, that left sound; so to engage your last sense you clink your glasses thus all five senses are thoroughly employed by the simple act of drinking wine.

The tradition of 'clinking of glasses' emerged from the feudal period of Europe where there were many nobles and minor rulers living in territories abutting each other. When they would visit each other for meals, the glasses of wine or mead of the hosting noble and the visiting noble would pour some of the liquid from their glass or flagon into each other, thus assuring that the drink was not poisoned.
I miss the wine tasting while living in Germany. I’ve been to a few here in America and I enjoyed them. Not the same but still fun. Love seeing Edd and Anna ❤️

I grew up in the Bay Area of California, so had the beautiful Sonoma wine country just to the north of us. We went on many wine tasting tours. One of my favorites was Francis Ford Coppola’s beautiful winery. He directed all the Godfather series.
I too had great experiences having lived in the Napa Valley and working/serving wine in many tasting rooms. A great experience.
Stephanie. That Chanel (inspired?) ensemble looks amazing on you and love your hair in the up coif. You look utterly upper class and chic. Am I the only one who noticed the *_Art Nouveau_* ironwork in the door. Drop dead gorgeous. I am an aesthete at heart. I believe that it is sulfites that are added to the wine rather than sulfates. It’s small but critical difference.
Sulfites also occur naturally in wine too.

My dad made his own wine with the fruit that couldn’t be sold at the grocery store where he worked. Blueberry, strawberry, peach, pear, cantaloupe, etc. They were delicious!! Thanks for the tour…it was wonderful.

My son ( age 30) and his French wife ( also his only wife !!) are just in the process of buying a house and land in the Loire Valley to live and plant a vineyard to make wine. It is such a fascinating subject, and so delicious.

This was good fun and very interesting! You can really tell that the time this “rebel” winemaker spent in California wine country rubbed off on him! As someone who is turning 21 (legal drinking age in America) in a couple off days and has never had a sip of wine before, I enjoyed learning about wine. Definitely will make a stop there when I go to France next summer

Sulfites are in wine, not sulfates.
Sulfates are chemicals used as cleansing agents. Btw, sulfites can occur naturally in wine. And yes, they can give some people a headache.
What's incredible is that 4 other wine drinkers and some experts, no-one corrected the use of the word sulfates.
Because most in the room speak French and not English so there not going to hear the difference in the words

I have my tea and biscuits. Trying to cut back on the wine a bit.
I've heard that one modest serving per day is perfectly good for us, particularly red wine. Wine has a lower alcohol content that other liquors, such as brandy, whiskey, gin etc., so in moderation, your health should be fine. Ask an Italian or French nutritionist for an opinion.
If you're drinking milky tea and biscuits, I'm afraid that would be worse for your waist line than a nightly wine.

Wine without sulphates ???? Oh wow!!! I’m allergic to sulfates and haven’t been able to drink wine. This could change my life 😆 do they ship to USA?

I believe some Californian wine growers make without adding sulphites; definitely worth checking it out.
you can get wine without sulfites in the US. you can get at some whole foods and trader joe. Also check out Bobby Parrish on youtube. I think he sells it through his site.
