@@funiversebeatbox8161 I meant, is it fair to the discipline? The entire point of beatboxing is to show what you can do without the means of instruments, electronics or help of any kind, right? I know you guys also cover loop artists and electronic musicians and so forth - but that's a different discipline. I think the line should be drawn at mastering - EQ and dynamics is fair game, but when you start to actually edit or automate with envelopes etc., that goes beyond mastering and becomes production, I think. At that point, it's not strictly beatboxing in the traditional sense, and, in my opinion, isn't really comparable, in fairness. So is it fair game? That depends on which game we're talking about - "strictly" beatboxing, or just "mostly" beatboxing? 🤔
@@RasmusSchultz mixing is making the sounds more clear. its what happens with any type of recording, music, beatboxing, movies and etc. its like you'll do a liproll sub bass and it sounds great but when you record it on your phone it just sounds like buzzing. mixing is totally fair
@@ashkankazemi2758 we're saying the same thing with different words - yes, mixing/mastering for better clarity, dynamics, volume and fullness etc. is all good with me. On this recording however, they used envelope automation to gate a reverb effect and selectively modify individual sounds - at that point, in my opinion, you're doing more than just mixing/mastering to improve the recording.
@@RasmusSchultz idk man as much as I remember there has been reverb in the mix. it might be wrong tho I'm not sure but since its a shoutout i don't think there is any problem with some reverb. but in competition case i do think it matters and as much as I think i cant think of an wildcard that has reverb.
