    I'm sure that you don't have heat problem with your Avatar Googles in Iceland 😂😂

      Haha, nope. That's the key to keeping the Avatars cool - you just gotta fly in Iceland lol

    Very nice, thanks for sharing. We need more people bringing their fixed wings on holiday. I took my 1900mm Skywalker (of all things) to the other side of the globe 4-5 years ago. I even asked the ATC on one of the local airports for permission to overfly the airport and got cleared for that.

      That's amazing man. How did you manage to transport that huge great big plane safely? lol. Awesome you got to fly over the airport too!

    I went on a 3 week trip to Iceland via ferry a few years ago and that is actually what inspired me to get into fixed wing FPV. I had done regular LOS flying for a couple years when I was younger and always dreamed of doing FPV but couldn’t afford it and then stopped to focus on school. For some reason while travelling across Iceland I kept thinking “This landscape would be so cool to fly through” and then I realized I actually could fly through it if I got into FPV. I still haven’t gone back to Iceland to fly there though, thank you for reminding me to keep on track ;)

      The scenery in Iceland is stunning. I actually chose probably the most boring place to fly, it would have been so much better up in the mountains. 100% would love to go back and do a proper flight one day

      @@gizfpv Yeah in those 3 weeks we’ve travelled from the south coast to the north coast along the west coast and then back south through the centre. The mountains were absolutely beautiful and nothing like the alps I’m used to, it was definitely the most beautiful country I’ve ever been to. Very windy though, I suppose I’d probably need something like a Drak to be able to fly there on most days

    Thanks for sharing, love Iceland. I've been to many countries (40+) and Iceland is top of the list for me too - I went back a second time! Have never flown fixed wing abroad though, looks like a fantastic experience.

    This is so cool. Being fixed wing guy, I always take dji on holidays due to luggage constraints, but your idea is great. Amazing footage and experience. I always take planes when I go somewhere closer by car.
    Love you channel. Cheers.

    • @gizfpv
      @gizfpv  8 місяців тому +1

      Taking a DJI on holiday makes sense, so much more practical and easy to transport. Not as cool as flying proper fpv with a fixed wing though! lol

    This is such an amazing experience Giz. Not that the flight itself was overly challenging, but dealing with the logistics of making it happen. Traveling with batteries has been my biggest worry. Glad to hear not an issue. :)
    Visiting Iceland is summer would be a blast, being able to fly and explore scenery any time of day. Less wind-chill too. Norway would be another incredibly scenic place to fly fixed wing FPV.

    • @gizfpv

      I was worried about the battery situation myself, but actually no one batted a eyelid. Just popped all the batteries in my carry-on bag and sailed through security with no problems. Felt sure I was gonna get pulled into a side room for interrogation lol

    Fantastic flying and footage, dude!!! 😃
    Now imagine flying over one of the volcanoes there!
    Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

      I would have loved to have done that. In the weeks leading up to my trip I was very aware of the active volcano situation, but unfortunately (for me) it had erupted and long since simmered down by the time I was there

    How's the RM Pocket feels for FPV fixed wing? Range wise, ergonomic, and ease of use etc. I picked up one and wanting to do some fixed wing FPV but still on the fence of actually building proper plane as I'm not confident in the RM Pocket abilities yet. Fantastic videos though, such a cool thing to bring fixed wing in a trip!

      I love it. I find it works great. I used to have a TX16s but downsized that to a Boxer. I've now downsized from the boxer to the pocket. It's (to me) seems be better build quality than any of the previous radios I owned yet in a smaller more user friendly form factor. I love the smaller size. I don't have small hands or anything and had no trouble holding the bigger radios, but I just prefer the smaller form factor. Easier to transport too. Has plenty of switches and functionality for fixed wing aircraft. Oh and range, I've had entirely no issue. 250mw will do 10-20km easy which is more than enough for me

    • @tommegg8486
      @tommegg8486 8 місяців тому

      @@gizfpv that's very comforting to hear. Didn't expect 250mW to go 10km though. Thanks!

      You should absolutely go. Its a amazing place. As for the cold though, actually it really didn't bother us. With all the winter survival gear on we actually felt too warm most the time. Was only when we stood still for 20 mins that we felt it. Up on top of the glacier it was -15 but even then we were ok. My finance and daughters hair actually froze lol, but we all felt fine :)

    Excellent video. Well done for making the effort. Also the gyroflow footage looks excellent to me. I've just gone over to walksnail having watched your previous videos amongst other. Also flying in 30mph plus winds is possible but not very relaxing haha

    • @gizfpv
      @gizfpv  8 місяців тому +1

      Haha yeah you can fly in 30mph wind for sure, but you'd have a terrible time and just ruin your battery. I usually don't fly if its above 15-20mph, so the flight in Iceland was definitely out my comfort zone. The little T1 handled it like a champ though :)
