Good, practical, and useful info. Thank you. BTW… you’re a natural UTuber! Appreciate how you give good organized and well thought out info without a ton of useless chatter. Best wishes for success with your new Channel. I’ve subbed. Hello from San Diego CA.
Thanks for the kind words and joining the channel!
Mason jars sealed with absorbers work just as good as mylar
Until an earthquake hits and all your jars fall down and broken.
storing a couple hundred pounds in mason jars seems to be a waste of good jars and way more expensive.
You have to think calories as well. 1,200 minimum a day. Wheat berries stored in Mylar with oxygen absorbers will allow for bread. Figure 500 calories per 5 slices of bread. 3 25lb bags should be enough for 1 year. Add in rice, 1 cup for 250 calories, honey about 25 16 ounce 2 tbsp a day. Rolled oats, pinto beans are good but you need like 18 20lb bags to get 500 calories a day for a year.
Popcorn 250 calories for 1/4 a cup which pops about 8 cups.
You have to store about a years worth is what I recommend, but you have to figure out calorie intake daily. Instant coffee. Salt, sugar, pepper, bullion cubes, pasta with cheese powder.
Hope this helps someone out there lol
Love the good work here! Inspires some thoughts on my end too!
There is a dedicated machine for this and they're quite cheap. Using a vacuum cleaner is quite risky and rather dirty in my opinion. I know they suck air from the bag and not the air inside the vacuum cleaner but still, something about it just doesn't sit well with me.
Thank you. My oxygen absorbers that are still in the package seem hard. Does that mean they arent going to work?
I'm not sure as brands can vary. Mine seem sort of "stiff". If you take them out and they start getting warm, I bet they are still fine!
Can you put Oats in mason jars for long term storeage
Would it help to put a paper towel one in bottom n one on top of food n mason jar plus a couple oxygen absorbers
I trust mason jars n oxygen absorbers most
