Some good picks! I would replace some of the first half with aufwiedersehen monty, kings valley 2, nemesis 2 and 3, parodius, golvellius, hydlide series etc.
@@Outworlder Nope, all msx1 games. Golvellius 1987 is in fact msx1, golvellius 2 is msx2. Kv2, nemesis 2 and 3 run on msx1 as wel, though in an msx2 it uses some pallete tricks and more sprites to make it look better. Hydelide 1..3 all have msx1 and msx2 versions.
man sometimes I feel so lonely when I think about the MSX as if I'm the only one my age that ever had one or played on it. It is one of those thing I can talk to nobody about because most people were too young for it or didn't have it
MSX Facebook groups are very vibrant with thousands of members. I never had a fb account until I got into retro computing. You are not alone my friend.
Not seeing Kings Valley 2, nor Maze of Galious is quite surprising. Penguin Adventure (which complexity is not apparent at first sight) should be better ranked to.
It's kinda surprising to see Q-Bert and Ghost Busters are in the MSX since their franchise was made outside of Japan. Also, I noticed in 5:13 that the protagonist in Pippols Box Cover looked a lot like Peter Pan from Disney's Peter Pan.
@Hamikon you're right. The MSX was very populair in The Netherlands too, due Philips. Most factories (I believe all) had an 'employee store' and you could buy them with a discount. For a matter of fact the Dutch created a few populair games too, like Hardboiled or Oh sh!t (a pacman clone) for example.
Thank you! I have a "new" Sony HitBit MSX1-Computer and try to find out which games are MSX1 compatible. Most people at UA-cam say "MSX" and at the end you need MSX2 or MSX2+. :-(
So true. I have 3 MSX 1 computers and 1 MSX 2 and I see it a lot. It is very confusing for those who only have a MSX 1 system. My advice would be, install a MSX emulator and try them in MSX 1 mode. Another thing is that 'cracked' cadtridges for the MSX are 32k or smaller, you can see a pattern in it. Sure it is a pain in the @ss to figure out which title is compatible with the MSX 1, but on the other hand there are a lot of good games for that system available :)
I can say my best 25 games list, but no ranking (I couldn't decide): Galaga Astro Marine Corps Inpecteur Z Knightmare King's Valley King's Valley 2 Maze of Galious Zanac The Goonies The Castle Excellent Habilit Thexder Road Fighter F1 Spirit Batman (the 3D one) Green Beret Magical Tree Nemesis Nemesis 2 Arkanoid Yie Ar Kung Fu Yie Ar Kung Fu 2 Xyzolog (or Xyxolog, I don't know) Tensai Rabian Penguim Adventure Other games I like, and could be in the list: Moon Patrol Wec Le Mans Hyper Sports (1,2,3) Super Billiards Pac Man Hype Sky Jaguar Ping Pong Kung Fu Master Hero Warroid Sweet Acorn Cannon Fighter Snake It Fuzzball Roller Ball Hole in One Oil's Well Exerion Exerion 2 Booga Boo Skooter Splash
First of all, it is not Penguin Adventure 2, it's just Penguin Adventure. Yes, it's the continuation of Antartic Adventure, but it's not PA 2. 2nd, it's an MSX title, not MSX2. I know it pretty well, as I had the cartridge and it worked in my HB10P which is an MSX1.
@@flyguille I don't think so. It doesn't even have a hack like the Nemesis saga that provides smooth scrolling and better colors but they requiere an msx2.
I don't see how Dargon Slayer can be inside the TOP25, it is no using the power of msx1, very basic game , no challenge about coding a game like that. Blocky scroll, bad use of sprites... etc.
the last one oh My god I cried 😭😭😭😭😭❤❤❤
thank you for sharing such a warm memory
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. 👍
A.M.C. (Astro Marine Corps) is missing. It was in two tapes!
F1 spirit > Roadfighter, would also liked to see Payload on list.
I found MSX pretty interesting and I'm spending my time trying to see which is the best MSX games I should pick, Thanks for the video
You're welcome, thanks for watching.
you can play msx games on retroarch if you install the righ emulators annd stuff
No The Maze Of Galious, no party...
That should in this video
This is the best selection I have ever seen, great job!!!
Thank you!
Konami has been always on top!
Some good picks! I would replace some of the first half with aufwiedersehen monty, kings valley 2, nemesis 2 and 3, parodius, golvellius, hydlide series etc.
A few of your picks are MSX 2 games.

@@imqqmi what!? I didn't know KV2 ran on MSX1! I'm missing out.
Why does Qbert look like one of the dragons from Bubble Bobble? 😅
That's true! Thanks for watching.
pippol, zanac, némesis/salamander... impressive music.
Why King's Valley music is switched off? The music is so cool
I was also missing Rise Out. That was a really nice one!
Thanks for watching. Not sure about the music, I'll have to have a look at it.
Konami was the best (well mostly) on MSX

Thanks for watching, I didn't have one either. Played plenty on emulation though!

I was hoping you would also make a MSX2 list...
Thanks for watching, I'll look into doing that!

It was popular in Brazil, Russia, Spain, Netherlands...
Quite a lot of MSX games had origins in Spain
Popular in France too, some msx were made in France too because there were Philips factories in my country.
Take it from me The Ghost Busters game is 100% dogshit.
@@rogeriopenna9014 Outside of Japan, Spain I believe was the next largest territory.
Nobody bought Q-Bert to play it, it unlocked so much in other games using Konami's Game Master.
Thanks for watching. Interesting comment!

Some great games there! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to list your best 25.
No Metal Gear?
Hmmmm that's quite the controversial list haha
Nemsis 1 was the best for me
Missing Auf Wiedersehen Monty & King's valley 2 in the list, which was superior to KV1. ;-)
Top 25 games by Konami and others
anyone remembers the graph+shift+stop ?
what does it do?
I remember Thexder
Thanks for watching. Nice game
Gente, vou ver minha lista de jogos de msx e procurar games
Yie Ar Kung Fu 1 over 2????
Exactly, not good :D
Yie Ar Kung Fu 2 ftw
The castle is number 1 not 22 the best and the hardest game ever
penguin adventure 2, what shows en #10 is not MSX1, it is msx2.
I had it on my MSX 1 Sony hit-bit & it was called Antarctic Adventure in the UK. Loved the slot machines the most down the holes
Penguin adventure was also for MSX1. Antarctica adventure was the original.
First of all, it is not Penguin Adventure 2, it's just Penguin Adventure. Yes, it's the continuation of Antartic Adventure, but it's not PA 2.
