I finally got it it installed about a year on my windows 10 laptop and got it to communicate with my MKII after about two grueling weeks. I had to upgrade computers (windows 11) due to Cubase need for massive space ffand I'm going through the same living hell again. I've put this off for weeks. What consumers have to go through to make this happen is ridiculous due to Boss not clearly labeling what is a main download and what is an upgrade for particular amps/software, etc. Love the product. HATE the unnecessary complexity of guessing everything when it could so easily be fixed.

After wasting hours on line 6 software which won't run on win 11, (can't update firmware) or in my case (and many others as indicated on every website I looked) not able to connect my android or my iphone, I took the line 6 back, got a Katana 50 and yes it works. This is a valuable video none of the manufactuers bother with. Thanks

There seems to have been quite a bit of trouble for many in getting Tone Studio installed properly, so I was very nervous about doing it myself. But I had this up and running within ten minutes or so for my 100 MkII with Windows 10. No errors or issues whatsoever. Here's what I did...
Make sure my amps firmware is current.
Installed Adobe Air. Very simple.
Installed correct driver. My MkII did this automatically, no interaction from me. Connect amp to PC via USB, turn amp on and driver downloads and installs.
Downloaded from Boss site correct Tone Studio version. There are differences. Be sure of correct version.
Extracted zip, using folder names, to desktop, opened folder, clicked on the exe and Tone Studio installed like any other application.
That was it. I have it running now, with all effects and devices working as designed. Maybe I just got lucky for a change!
Also note: There are two SEPARATE programs for MK1 and MK2. Get the right one for your version.
Paul thank you for the video it was helpful. What you may have wanted to recommend in the beginning of the video is that if you’re firmware is not up-to-date in your katana MK 2 it will not recognize that it is connected to the computer. After updating my firmware I was able to use the tone studio. Thanks for the video greatly appreciated !
I dont know if you have the answer, or if you'll reply, but do you know how to fix this? I just bought a Katana Mk2, and I've done all the tests to reasonably come to the conclusion that it is up-to-date. My drivers are also up-to-date, and tone studio is up to date. Do I just Update Katana regardless or is there some solution?

Thanks for your help. One thing I am getting frustrated with is that I cannot seem to be able to save different settings in the tone studio for each of my three booster types on one single channel. I am currently using overdrive, 60s fuzz, and muff fuzz, and would like to have different bottom levels and tone levels for each of these. But for some reason, every time I change the level for these settings for one boost type, it changes for every boost type in that channel. Am I doing something wrong, or is it just not possible to have different values for each boost type in one channel?

Hello, Hello, Thank you for your exlicative video, it is the one that made me the closest to the use of my software. But before arriving at the opening of the program, I have a screen which asks me for the desired midi connections, the audio etc, I block there and I have no connection. Thanks for your help if you know the answer.
If you want to record out to a DAW I assume you can load up your daw and have the Tone STudio open at the same time?

Great video. Clear and concise. However, mine didnt work. Some BS about old version of katana so had to do something which i didnt understand. Deleted all the boss stuff from my computer. too much work
This has been great help, but I have a glitch. When the TS open up, I keep getting a dialogue box that tells me to check the pairing device. I'm getting 4 choices on the bottom drop-down; 3 choices on the top drop-down but it seems no matter what choice I pick, it just keeps coming back (???). Looks like midi in / midi out, and top says Katana, Katana Daw Ctrl, and Katana Ctrl, and the bottom is the same thing, but also has Microsoft GS Waveable Synth. Did I mess up one of the downloads?
Please i need help. I did the system program update, connected my amp with the PC, then it showed both of katana icons same as they were in your video, i did the tone studio installation but when i open the studio it says device not found? Thank you!

It says I need the late version of the app but I’m not sure how to get the latest version
So when i installed the newest one for my mk2 50w it runs but says its outdated, then i open the link it gives for an update and it shows some version 4.0 BUT it no longer says katana mk2 just says "Tone studio for katana" im assuming this is why when i open the new version after installing adobe air it fails to recognize my amp?

I have clicked the Katana button and it has come up with "connection failure" and wants me to select MIDI/AUDIO connection but I dont know what it means or what to do. I`ve been trying for days to connect the Boss Tone Studio to a Boss Katana Mk2, - both through a Mac and through a pc, but to no avail. Although the computers tell me that installation of both software and driver has been successful, the message, "Wrong device" comes when I try to connect. To see this its so simple but im still struggling to get it connected to the pc!
Download the rock one first for a test, and then go to next page and get the driver's. Nothing will work without the correct drivers. Make sure you go into you drivers and assure that they've downloaded onto laptop.
What if I connected my katana and turned it on before downloading the tone studio
Mine says that I am using an “older version of katana mkii, update to the latest version,” but when I clicked the link it provided, it just sends me to boss support, and I still can’t find the solution. Did anyone else encounter/figure out the solution to this??
Well? A little too fast for me. Every time I try to open, it tells me I have to install the driver still, but it's definitely installed. I'm at a loss...Windows 7, Katana 50

Bruh, says I need to download adobe air so I do that then says I need to update adobe air. So I try that and I keep getting error messages. So dope. Idk why this wont work on my pc.

when you connect the katana to the computer with the usb cable, does the sound come out from the amp itself or do you need to add monitor speakers to the computer?

Mine will not show the drivers and says that i’ve downloaded an older version and when i go to download the right version it doesn’t show me the right one. I just wasted $400 on this…
Jw i have a Katana MK2 100, i have 2 mac’s, an older one with most my files & a 2 yr old one. Can I download the Tone studio on both mac’s (one is macOS High Sierra...the other is more modern, but i use it less).
Can I have the Tone Studio on both my Mac’s or am I limited to 1 software download? Also do you know if it’s compatible with Mac OS High Sierra? Also i’ve owned my Katana MK2 100 for 5ish months & was too busy to get into the Tone Studio, i still have the owners manual..im assuming I’m still able to download the tone studio..hopefully on both mac’s, or am i limited to 1 computer?? Both questions would be greatly appreciated, I’m not very computer savy.
Also im guessing i need a usb cable running from the amp into my computer while doing this (not the USB memory sticks right lol)

you need an audio interface for that. The software is only for editing the tone

Yes, IF... you save it to the amp in one of the available channels. My Katana 100 MKII has 8 available slots to save 8 different tones. Other Katanas only have 4 slots to save to.
Keeps saying I'm using an older version of Katana MkII but I'm downloading 1.0.2 directly from Boss. I did this three times. I can hear my guitar but can't control any tones or effects.
So you need to search on UA-cam for "How to Update the Firmware for Katana MKII on Windows 10 OS" and if you do what he does it should work I was struggeling also very hard man

@@Paulie8K what video did you watch? it seems like im having the same problem where i cant try different tones at all almost, and if it works to click on any of the tones most of them just sound like a "basic" tone

if you have Windows... go to configuration.. privacy.. and allow app access to the microphone.. ON... then you can use the katana boss tone. hope you can get it.. 👍
Any idea why the MIDID IN and MIDI OUT are both set to KATANA but i'm getting a wrong device message? I have the drivers and tone studio downloaded & the firmware is all up to date

I'm having the same issue...I can't figure out which midi in and midid out to choose from
trying to get the thing installed is a nitemare. Tried to run the thing on various MACs all to no avail. In 2021 you would think it would be as simple as click a button and off it runs, all done and dusted in 5 minutes. All I seem to be doing is install then uninstall and repeat. All very tedious

If you came here looking for download solutions with pc not connecting to the software, just give up. Ive been trying for months to make it work.
If you can get the program working on windows I had to throw in the towel after 5 hours. Yes new computer everything updated, I love the amp but there software is a dumpster fire. Tone studio, I've never seen it I only see an icon oh wait it it deleted itself lmao. I hope they fix this

I run a Boss GT-Pro (rack), it has massive flexability, and a new JC120...... question: could you please tell me how a new Katana Head and plugging options. Actually i have 2 GT-Pros and looking for more. I would greatly appreciate your opinion on this combination. GT-Pto to JC120 and out to Katana, they both have editors. Any advice of your vast knowledge to steer me right. Have a blessed day

The driver does NOT install automatically. You just blew through that part, and I have no idea what you are doing.
In fact, every video I see, that part is left out.
Where do you get that driver and where do you put it?

It doesn’t get much more simple than how it is shown here. Use the speed options for the video if he’s going too quick or use the pause button. No one wants to watch a 15 minute video about how to connect an amp to a computer.
This is a complete pain in the ass. Doesn’t work well at all, not clear instructions or what specifically you need for each specific amp they sell. What a bother!!! I’m done messing with this. Just gonna use the amp for living room practice.🤯🤬

mine sure as hell doesn't work like that. after an evening of trying to get this fucking thing running, i'm sending it back. Way too many hours spent watching videos trying to get this fucking amp to connect
