6:04 Apparently, Australia is a landmass with an area greater than 700,000,000 sq km. That's really impressive, as the total surface area of Earth (including oceans/seas) is 501,000,000 sq km.
These are old statutes never removed from the original laws. The hay bale is legit. It was an early attempt at ensuring quality of life for horses working when drawing the horse drawn cabs of the early days. The hot pants sound like a local issue. It was also not claimed to be an Australia wide law. It is in fact against the law in Queensland to use tarot cards to "read someone's fortune" (or fortune telling) but anyone doing this activity can get around that law by getting the customer to pay for a cup of tea or coffee and some cookies (biscuits) or cake; so essentially one can go to a cafe like place, order some rather expensive tea and cake, and have one's cards read.
The "hay bale in a taxi" law was repealed in 1980. It was a hangover from the horse-drawn cart days in Victoria and nobody ever bothered repealing it when horses and carts were superseded by motor vehicles!
Yeah ... but we have a lot more beaches to choose from. You're also talking about the country that EXPORTS SAND TO SAUDI ARABIA ... that fact alone should explain how good our beaches are. As an example the longest sand beach in USA is the South Padre Island, Texas, at 35 miles (57km) of unbroken sand ... I grew up a short distance from the 90 mile beach in south east Victoria (which is actually 83 miles (134km) of unbroken sand, but 111miles (177km) total with the artificial entrance at Lakes Entrance spoiling things), but the Coorong Beach in South Australia has that well beaten at 129 miles (207km) of unbroken sand (223km total). (The Victorian Lakes ORIGINALLY had a narrow inlet/outlet to the ocean to flush excess water, and it allowed smaller vessels to access the lakes, but in 1869 a permanent entrance was created in its current location to allow large oceangoing vessels to access the waterways, and it's been constantly dredged of sand buildup to keep it open ever since.)

Hi Guys Living in Australia for over 10yrs , I would say ,come and visit Perth in Western Australia and see the place and the potential lifestyle it can give...Yes Western Australia is not the cheapest place to live but there are opportunities for work that would give you a different perspective..
I'm from Perth originally, born and raised there for 30 years. Moved to Sydney and been here 20 years. Sydney is by far the most expensive city in Australia, which is not a good thing.
Ducks also can't walk backwards. You can trap one by digging a narrowing trench with feed in to. The duck will follow the trench, eating until it gets stuck.
The hay in the trunk and the hot pants thing are probably old British laws we inherited. They are certainly not enforced and no one here in Aus probably ever heard of them either. BUT one law we do have us that on Anzac Day it is the only time that betting in public is legal everywhere only after mid day playing a game called “Two Up”. The town of Kalgoorlie has the only sanctioned place in the nation where two up can be played legally every day of the year.
Bob hawke was also the PM when Australia won the Americas cup in 1983, and famously said " any boss who sacks any employee for not coming to work today is a bum" .he declared the day a national holiday on thed spot.
The Bob hawk longest serving PM fact is complete rubbish. He was third longest, only 8 years. Sir Robert Menzies 18 years and John Howard second with 11 years.
Personally, as an Aussie, if I meet someone from another country, whether it be America or England or Scotland or one of the European countries, I give them a big Aussie "G'day" and will talk with them, no matter what
Love watching your videos. Keep it up! As an Australian, this video triggered me to have to comment. You have to stop watching videos about other countries when the voiceover is American. This video isn't really accurate, but was amusing to watch.
hey guys, an almost forgotten classic TV show from Australia that will warp your mind, "Bush Mechanics", it will also answer a few questions you had from previous videos you have, like what we do if you break down 100's of km from the nearest town
Sharks don’t have gills, they have filtered slits that don’t flush water through as fish gills do so unless they’re resting in a fast moving out or ingoing tides they have to keep moving .
The law about requiring taxi drivers to carry hay is only applicable in Queensland. While it has never been enforced there are a few taxi drivers that carry it just in case. The law goes back to the days when they had horses. Taxi drivers were required to carry hay to ensure that they had food for their horses.
im an aussie, ive never herd of the taxis must have a bal of hay in their boot before now. ive taken taxis many times ive never seen any hay. its likely one of those laws that existed for a reason once upon a time like when everyone used horse and carts, that no one bothered to change when cars became a thing
I have never seen a hay bale in a taxi ever. As for the offensive song words thing - Tell that to Australian band, The Angels, specifically relating to their song “Am I Ever Going to See Your Face Again”, which was embellished in once of its first performances by an audience member and is now generally viewed as being part of the song.
'Fact' 13 - had an Asian couple want to buy our little Toyota carolla we were selling - where is as is no road worthy needed minor work. They said they wanted to drive up to cairns for the day... that's at least overnight on the train or about 4 days drive from where we are... In Qld
The bale of hay law… a taxi must have the ‘capacity’ to carry a bale of hay. That’s why taxis in australia need to be a sedan not a smaller car or hatch like some countries have
I use taxis in Australia frequently and I've never seen hay stored in the trunk! Since most of my use of taxis is in travelling to and from airports, if hay was stored in the trunk there would be no room for my luggage! Graham, Adelaide, South Australia.
Emus can't walk backwards because their knees bend backwards and I don't think kangaroos can move their hind feet separate from each other so they can't take steps, so they can't walk backwards.
The laws are ancient, that would be like her quoting "In Arizona ... it's illegal for a donkey to sleep in a bathtub" or "In California ... it's illegal to whistle for a lost canary before 7 a.m."
As for the weird laws, I'll give 2 answers. As far as I can confirm, it was London cabs that had that requirement until 1976. The actual rule was that taxis had to carry food for their draft animal. The second answer is that there are always weird laws left on the books until someone finally cleans them up. Most of the driving laws are now pretty constant because all the states made an effort to standardise them. What is weirder, however is that if there is no gate which can be secured by a lock, the private road is treated as a public one. So going into the McDonalds drive-through and pulling out your phone to pay is illegal unless you set the park brake and turn off the car (can't use a phone while driving). As you can expect, no-one does it.
If those are actual laws, they’re most definitely obsolete or ancient, such as the hay bale thing. That’s just ludicrous, probably an ancient rural notion to help distribute feed in the drought or something like that. I’m unaware of a taxi service in the outback, since the distances alone would make it unviable. And in Australia, we sing at home, not on the public streets, especially not rap, those guys would perform publicly on the streets of New York and LA to get attention! Aussies aren’t attention seekers, they like to hang out with friends and share stuff together such as the footy, a great meal at a nice restaurant (of which there are hundreds of thousands) or visit some mates for some backyard cricket in summer followed by a barbecue!
Hey guys, You need to react to Jimmy Rees “Meanwhile in Australia” it is so funny. This is where I get all my covid news updates. He is up to 29… you may need to watch a few of the early episodes to get the gist of it🌞
Taxis to carry bails of hay in the boot? I also have never heard of it, but it could be a law raised in federation days. The woman also spoke of "drop bears" as if they are a real thing, when they aren't.
Come on you guys….I know you think we’re so far away, but think of the movies in flight you’ll catch up on. It’ll be unforgettable. Promise, our really phantasmagorical things will out way the things that can consume you. Where today’s tourist is tomorrow crocodile dodo, is not a common saying anymore….we do loose a few at the beach being pulled out in a rip and pop up in New Zealand. But you can read the signs that say “SWIM BETWEEN THE FLAGS”🐨👏🏼
A lot of famous Aussies were born elsewhere. Nicole Kidman was actually born in Hawaii, Keith Urban & Russell Crowe born in NZ, Naomi Watts and Olivia Newton John in the UK, AC/DC’s Marcus & Angus Young born in Scotland, We like to claim everyone 😆 But Australia is very multicultural so it’s inevitable. Also, never seen a bale of hay in a taxi in my life! Not the best list and would be better to be narrated by an otherwise Aussie.. but who knows, she might well be despite the accent 😅
Australian law is based on Common Law, it is now statutized and many of those eronious laws mentioned are therefore removed and have long been revoked, and not in use.
A lot of this information in this is wrong. Bob Hawke isn't the longest-serving Prime Minister, though he may have been the most popular. A number of the laws cited just haven't been taken off the books; they're a legacy of the past. The Mel Gibson thing is best left to Mel - his grandmother Eva Mylott was an Australian opera singer and he's often said he identifies with both countries.
Few things to note from the video Canberra is pronounced Canbra Melbourne is pronounced Melbn Quokka is pronounced Qocka Wombats can run faster than Usain Bolt No taxi in Australia carries hay bales in the boot of their car (every country has their weird laws)
I'd highly recommend anything by 'Ozzy Man Reviews' or 'Isaac Butterfield' and even 'Fairbairn Films'. Russell Coight 'All Aussie Adventures' is fun and '4WD 24/7'. 'Agro's Cartoon Connection' a kids morning show from early 90's. 'Bondi Rescue' is a good one too.
Sharks are not native to Australia, the emu and kangaroo are. We only have a few beaches, the main one surrounding the mainland, the one surrounding Tasmania and the beaches surrounding the individual islands
That's an old law to keep hay in the trunk, from back when they still used horses for transportation. They couldn't fit luggage in there if they still did that!
Ok I'm only up to no. 6 I'm confused about the frigging lengths she talking about and I live here... so to help I live in Adelaide South Australia, in a small country town an hour out of the city.. for me to drive to say either Perth or Sydney takes 2 or 3 days depending how long you want to be on the road (common is 8 has a day) so would be 3 days to Perth and probably 80% of it is desert, Sydney is a 2 day drive,, or under 24hrs straight through. My closest city from Adelaide is Melbourne 800km (500miles I think from before we switched) correct we have a massive coastline of mostly gorgeous white sand beaches... talk to ya later I'm back to no 6
Bob Hawk was Not our longest running Prime Minister, he was our 3rd by memory... yes beer brands are regional, box jellyfish are only on a portion of beaches, and sharks are actually not common, Taxis do not carry hay in the boot, its a very old law of horse n cart days for feeding horses, the law is just still sitting there,, I have Never heard of that hot pants law, ridiculous I say Unfortunately alot of Americans think Australia is just an island,,, we are,, but a bloody huge one like the size of America,,, and I was once asked by an American if we had Shopping Malls here,, Cheers
Legal laws - The taxi with the bale of hay in the boot/trunk was enforced way back when Taxi Cabs were a horse drawn transport. The law was never revoked so it's just a funny slip up and unenforceable by law. Pink hotpants... Pffft! Offensive lyrics can only be used if you have a party and someone complains to the Police. 1 Other law is that you can complain about cooking odors????.
Nicole Kidman was actually born in Hawaii to Australian parents. They moved back to Australia when she was three and has dual citizenship. Mel Gibson was born in New York and moved to Australia when he was 12. He actually has American-Irish citizenship from his Irish born mother. Australia can't claim him. Sorry - he's yours!
Nicole Kidman was actually born in Hawaii so she dont count neither Many of those weird laws are no longer active and no cabs do not need a bale of hay in the trunk
the hot pants law is real but not inforced at all. its just one of those weird things. the hay bale, maybe but not inforced. Im sure it was ment for horses when taxis were horse drawn

So many mistakes in that video. Did she ACTUALLY mention Drop Bears, like they’re a real thing? 😂 And no, there are no bales of hay in any taxi.
I know, right? I had to go back and listen again, because I didn’t believe what I was hearing 😂

I'd like to see your reaction to a 60 minutes interview with chopper read
7:41 Americans confused by the metric system of measurement along with only 2 other countries, bless em 🤣🤣
Time they changed lol
Bob hawke was also the PM when Australia won the Americas cup in 1983, and famously said " any boss who sacks any employee for not coming to work today is a bum" .he declared the day a national holiday on thed spot.
Listen here, you got to keep Mel , like it or not, he is yours. He identifies as Australian but we got America on a tecno.
lol
The Bob hawk longest serving PM fact is complete rubbish. He was third longest, only 8 years. Sir Robert Menzies 18 years and John Howard second with 11 years.
If you are into car races try the Bathurst races. You will be thrilled
Hundred percent there’s no hay in the boot
hey guys, an almost forgotten classic TV show from Australia that will warp your mind, "Bush Mechanics", it will also answer a few questions you had from previous videos you have, like what we do if you break down 100's of km from the nearest town
In Victoria it's illegal to change a light bulbs in your home, you have to get a sparkie to change your light bulbs.

That’s why taxis in australia need to be a sedan not a smaller car or hatch like some countries have
8:26 Bob Hawk was famous for skulking beers
you should do one about the sculptures around the country
I use taxis in Australia frequently and I've never seen hay stored in the trunk! Since most of my use of taxis is in travelling to and from airports, if hay was stored in the trunk there would be no room for my luggage! Graham, Adelaide, South Australia.
Emus can't walk backwards because their knees bend backwards and I don't think kangaroos can move their hind feet separate from each other so they can't take steps, so they can't walk backwards.
And Kangaroos tail is in the way.
OzzyMan - Magpies
The laws are ancient, that would be like her quoting "In Arizona ... it's illegal for a donkey to sleep in a bathtub" or "In California ... it's illegal to whistle for a lost canary before 7 a.m."
she didn't mentioned Margot Robbie so I'm pissed!!
C-a-mbear-a was the funniest thing I’ve ever heard
The sand in Hawaii Waikiki beach is mined and transported from the Fold Coast Australia!
You should react to top 10 car brands in Australia and react to what Australia invented.
Who else loves being Aussie
Not really any of those weird laws are carried out especially the hay one. The only one would be the car key
If you do come over here you have to check out Fraser Island
I would Recommend A 4wd 24/7 video on it but they tend to be a bit longer than your standard
Perth is on the Swan River and is over 16kms from the beach.. Canberra is of course landlocked so no beach either
Brisbane is quite a way up the river too, it's often assumed to be coastal.
I recommend watching a UA-cam call issac butterfield, he is a true blue aussie
I wouldnt choose that list as accurate in my opinion. The best site to see is destination Australia tourism
Been here all my life, never heard any of those laws and never seen or heard of the taxi thing
A bale of hay in the boot of a cab isn’t right. Maybe in the day of horse drawn cabs.
Hey guys,
You need to react to Jimmy Rees “Meanwhile in Australia” it is so funny. This is where I get all my covid news updates. He is up to 29… you may need to watch a few of the early episodes to get the gist of it🌞
Those videos will go so over their heads, I'm afraid.
I have never been in a taxi with hay. Ever!
Thank you she pronounced emu correctly.
Wrong about Coopers beer, southern states it's VB (VICTORIA BITTER) & the most popular beer Aussies drink.
Cuatro Xs haha, thats the best name for it yet !
Try ‘Australia’s deadliest animals’ song
Bob Hawke is not Australia's longest serving Prime Minister: Sir Robert "Pig Iron Bob" Menzies was, followed by John Howard.
A lot of famous Aussies were born elsewhere. Nicole Kidman was actually born in Hawaii, Keith Urban & Russell Crowe born in NZ, Naomi Watts and Olivia Newton John in the UK, AC/DC’s Marcus & Angus Young born in Scotland,
We like to claim everyone 😆 But Australia is very multicultural so it’s inevitable.
Also, never seen a bale of hay in a taxi in my life!
Not the best list and would be better to be narrated by an otherwise Aussie.. but who knows, she might well be despite the accent 😅
Australia has been here for well over 50 billion years. Our indigenous peoples have been here for well over 60 000 years.
i can tell you hitting a wallaby with a car is like hitting a cement block those things are just fucken muscle
Few things to note from the video
Canberra is pronounced Canbra
Melbourne is pronounced Melbn
Quokka is pronounced Qocka
Wombats can run faster than Usain Bolt
No taxi in Australia carries hay bales in the boot of their car (every country has their weird laws)
I think the bale of hay relates back to when they had horse and carts.....the hot pants, no idea??
4:32 It is true that most fish can't swim backwards.
If they swim backwards they die swimming forwards is literally how they breathe.
The bale of hay law is from the horse and cart era.
Seriously ... there's no room left to put hay in the trunk as they're usually too full of bodies of previous non-paying customers.
I think you will be interested in Cogito's "How Aboriginal Australians Made Australia".
My closest city from Adelaide is Melbourne 800km (500miles I think from before we switched) correct we have a massive coastline of mostly gorgeous white sand beaches... talk to ya later I'm back to no 6
Bob Hawk was Not our longest running Prime Minister, he was our 3rd by memory... yes beer brands are regional, box jellyfish are only on a portion of beaches, and sharks are actually not common, Taxis do not carry hay in the boot, its a very old law of horse n cart days for feeding horses, the law is just still sitting there,, I have Never heard of that hot pants law, ridiculous I say
Unfortunately alot of Americans think Australia is just an island,,, we are,, but a bloody huge one like the size of America,,, and I was once asked by an American if we had Shopping Malls here,, Cheers
No hay ever in a taxi in my life. Crazy idea
No Taxis no longer carry hey in the boot (trunk) Kim from Rockingham Western Australia
Having to have hay in the back of taxis is not a law in Australia and I've never seen it done ever.
Sorry - he's yours!
well there are about 8,000 islands around australia ... apart from Tasmania
Then there is this series - 'How to talk Australian', very funny, just react to the first episode for now, but if you enjoy it you can do the whole series.

the way she pronounced Canberra i cant-
Check out the research into Australia's totally unique prehistoric animals & dinosaurs
Anything from the "Aunty Donna" boys.
the taxi law is an outdated law, it goes back to when taxies were pulled by horses as far as my understanding goes
Seeing that many Americans look at some of Australian music, there are a couple of songs (one from my generation) of which you've, no doubt, never heard. So you might find them of interest
OK the first is by "Daddy Cool" (1971). "Eagle Rock". This song inspired Elton John to write Crocodile Rock.
