More than enough for this kind of ship. Oil tankers aren't designed to be fast. Why? Because a ship that enormous size being fast would *burn too much fuel* . And ships burning too much fuel makes them less profitable. It could still travel at 16,5 knots (30,6 km/h or 19mph). When you consider that electric scooters are limited to 20-25km/h and city traffic usually moves at a slower speed during rush hour I'd say that is fast enough for something 2/3rds of a million ton heavy when fully loaded. Also, back in the late 70's when this was built the only ships more powerful were nuclear reactor driven aircraft carriers. This is diesel powered. There are more powerful diesels today, sure, but not 45 years ago

I think he was going to say "long" as a skycraper
The only megatanker that has sunk and lived to tell the tale.
The dislikes are from people with headphones.
This principle applies on all ship... not only on Jahre Viking.
How many Toyota’s did they make out of it ?
i was on that ship for 7 contracts
But will it blend?
i dont think so
It will flex , so in a way yes it will
You Gotta Need A Bigger Blender.
What about the Esso Manhattan ? The first ice breaker super tanker
It's not larger. If it could break through ice? Impressive, but it's not the point here.
might easily break into pieces when there is heavy swell
No
Aka The Knock Nevis, and other names
cool

At 1:00 NOT 650,000 tons cargo. The cargo capacity of the ship was 565,000 DWT. The loaded displacement (total weight) was 647,000 tons.

Yeah but the weight of the tanker itself is not that much.

This ship isn't even in the top 5 biggest ships anymore
Google tells otherwise. The Jahre Viking is still the longest ever built at 1504 feet.
