Well done mate and thanks for taking the time to video your work. I was going to buy a mk7.5 soon but this has made me pause for thought. You might just have saved me from buying a nightmare ! Cheers.
the mk7 golf for leaks in literally the worst car in history for water issues, i bought one in december and quickly found out, dealer had it for 3 weeks and unfortuately neglected to dry/sort it and the whole of the inside was full of mold by the time they sorted it, changed boot gromet issue rear top brake light etc and sealed the lights and water was still getting in, even had a small electric burns near my 2 brake lights due to water filling up so bad, no idea how VW made the mk7 have so many issues compared to the older lot, everytime i opened the boot water spilled out the back plastics was stressful, good luck with this ^^ i gave up and had to swap
I have a golf mk6 and I’m also getting water issues. I’m so surprised. I thought golf’s were tanks and this has been my first! Mechanically it’s been sound but never had an issue with water in a car before that wasn’t Cat C or D!

Thanks LRH Automotive, very informative. Unbelievable VW's put out such crap, I've owned VW's and Audi's exclusively since the late '70's my 2017 Alltrack will be the last VW/Audi I'll ever purchase. 2 of these water leaks should have never happened mainly due to poor choice of materials or lack of, the speaker seal material disintegrating after only a few years and the plastic vent with ZERO sealant just cheap cheap cheap. My lifetime love affair is over and done. As far as I know I don't have a leak issue, but now I'm going to go thru the entire car and preemptively repair the trouble areas ...you know the job VW should have done.
When they want $31K for a car, they SHOULD be putting effort into preventing leaks. I will probably never buy another VW again. After 7 years of zero issues, my MK 7 is leaking like a faucet.
So you just cleaned it up and put some sealent around the edge of the speaker without removing it? Thinking about the same myself. Seems like a hassle to remove and mount the speaker again, so if I don't have to do it that would be good.
got a golf R MK 7.5 and the window washer reservoir started leaking, LOL I emptied a whole botte of washer fluid into it thinking Jesus how much does it hold, then my feet started getting wet and I realised, one of the plastic grommets on the bottom of the bottle has snapped. because of work I have no time to fix it because it involves taking the wheel off and the bumper/ wheel arch lining to get to it. only problem with an over engineered car is I have a huge warning light on the digital dash saying please fill up washer liquid.. luckily it wont cost me a penny to fix it because I can get the parts through work but its such a joke that they use plastic grommets in an engine bay that gets hot and cold constantly causing plastic to perish... use aluminium or something FFS.
I have a 2nd hand MK7 2013 and the headliner roof leaks from the back. Now I have to find what causes the leaks from the back and fix it and how to clean the stains on the headliner 😔

Same happened to my golf r back seat was wet but boot floor appeared dry until I took out spare and pulled up bottom carpet which felt dry but was flooded under this …..so I replaced the pipe from the boot handle which had perished and so far so good
I did all these jobs on my MK7 GTE. Just hope it solves the problem. I had exactly the same issues.
