Many thanks for bringing back fond memories. I bought mine in the late eighties for £40 ! The front floor pan on both sides was completely rotted away. In those days a stainless steel panel was pop riveted in place and we found an original Arbarth exhaust system. Great fun, stopped by the police eighteen times, they thought I'd built it myself ! Thanks for saving a classic.
Bravo sir, a job very well done, and a very good panel fit for an Equipe - better than the factory! Jaguar Golden Sand was available from the factory, as I recall - somewhere, I have a photocopy of the handwritten records of production Equipes up to early 1967, and I remember seeing reference to Golden Sand
Good Job. I saw your car in a video here on UA-cam by Nick Pettit. I didn't know what it was but used the info on your show card to find it. I live in Canada but always had an appreciation for British cars. My first car was a Consul 315, I also had a 1958 Wolesley and two 3 litre Rovers.
Great job. To answer your gearbox query, these never had overdrive. The gearbox on a GT4S was from the Herald, and had not been much upgraded from the box on the Standard Ten from the 50's. The lump in the early Spitfires & the Bond gave these boxes a hard time with both higher torque and BHP. Not surprisingly, the boxes failed, especially synchromesh and low gaers.... I used to own JHY 100E in metallic green.
Well done. I rescued a GT4S that had stood on axle stands for 30 years. I never went to the efforts you did as I needed the car for work, so it was put back on the road within a couple of months. I sold it on to another enthusiast for proper restoration, no idea what happened to it though !

What a great project. Thumbs up.

Just about to start work on my bond. Keen to see if you have any photos where the fibreglass rear arches tie into the door pillars
