I never knew that was there too, I wish at big school you learn about local stuff at least I know more about Rufford n Thoresby now they were two of my house names at school welbeck and clumber were the other two x
Like you I had no idea that this structure was there, we used to take our lad to Sherwood Pines to tear around and burn off some energy when he was younger, it would have made some nice photos if we had spotted it.
Incredible history. Was King John as bad as history has made him out to be, or was it a bad rap like Richard III got? Hmmm, who knows, but please bring us some more of these historical pieces. Thanks!
Isn't it a shame that its been "tastefully restored" with breeze blocks, haven't we come a long way in 800 years🤔 Needs a lot more looking into I'm thinking?
An very impressive castle remains. It will always be a tourist attraction. Cheers Ant.
Wonderful relic shame bout the breeze blocks probably stopping it from collapsing .....great little video - Ant....Frank & Lee...
Yes It'll be the strongest and safest material to use I imagine 🙂

Love to see these places, reminded me of our old parts of wall in Norwich,🤔
I bet there's some lovely little places around there
@@TrekkingExploration yes you will have to come and take a look,😁
Fantastic. Did you happen to meet Robin Hood and not tell us? Just love those old buildings. Thanks so much for taking me along
We have a coffee from time to time 🤣 😉
That's great 😄😄😄
The village that it’s in is called Kings Clipstone!
I know I went there the day I explored it 👍
That’s such an interesting building is a there any more info or historical images?👍🏴
Any images I found it looked pretty much the same, even an artist's drawing from the 1700s. So it must have been a ruin for a good 300 years or more
Channel 4 "Time Team" had an episode about that place where they dug it.
