    I never knew that was there too, I wish at big school you learn about local stuff at least I know more about Rufford n Thoresby now they were two of my house names at school welbeck and clumber were the other two x

    Like you I had no idea that this structure was there, we used to take our lad to Sherwood Pines to tear around and burn off some energy when he was younger, it would have made some nice photos if we had spotted it.

      Any images I found it looked pretty much the same, even an artist's drawing from the 1700s. So it must have been a ruin for a good 300 years or more

    Incredible history. Was King John as bad as history has made him out to be, or was it a bad rap like Richard III got? Hmmm, who knows, but please bring us some more of these historical pieces. Thanks!

    Isn't it a shame that its been "tastefully restored" with breeze blocks, haven't we come a long way in 800 years🤔 Needs a lot more looking into I'm thinking?
