Hangin' out where I don't belong is nothing new to me
I get tired and I get sick and then I lose the strength to leave
I can't handle change
I can't handle change
Nothing I do is ever good
Nothing I do is ever good enough
Nothing I do is ever good
Nothing I do is ever good
Nothing I do is ever good enough
Nothing I do is ever good
Leave me alone
Leave me alone
Leave me alone
Leave me alone
I can't help but repeat myself
I know it's not your fault
Still lately, I begin to shake
For no reason at all
For no reason at all
For no reason at all
For no reason at all
For no reason at all

God I pray that Bernthal comes back. It's one of my favorite performances of anything MCU-related. He looks like a Frank Quitely drawing and has the energy of a rabid dog gnawing at the chain which keeps him staked to the ground. As much affection as I have for Thomas Jane's turn at the role, Bernthal's Punisher is mesmerizing to watch and I always 100% buy that he's the most dangerous person in any room he enters. No other Marvel hero makes me scared of what *they're* going to do.
thank god they announced that he is then
Disney hears you!! But they don’t give a shit…. Enjoy G.I. Jane! That’s what Disney wants and obviously what you want too!
I fully believe Punisher Season 3 would’ve been the Punisher that every wanted to see from the comics. Best thing Disney can do is, if they choose to introduce him, I’d have him be just that: Comic Book Punisher.
Too bad hes getting old
@@lanzmotionless TIme for Punisher Max stories then
@@lanzmotionless46 is not too old to play Frank Castle 😂
this gonna be a classic❤️
(Marvel + British) * 2 !?
Didn't think i'd see you here!
Love your vids.
You're gonna be a classic.
I think that's why I really enjoy and appreciated these shows, it's because I've gone through some trauma of my own that I'm still trying to deal with.
Same with me and these videos.
‘The best idea for the season is used and thrown away like a used baby wipe.’ I love this line because it’s so true. Season 2 was so frustrating with how many good ideas it had and how badly it fit them together into anything resembling a story.
This character shaped me during my teens. And how you put it "the grey area of agency and inability" really made sense to me on why I liked him. I know what it's like to to feel committed, driven, ruthless even if need be but still broken. Broken within a body and mind that wants to heal but can't because I wouldn't let it. The Punisher (especially Jon Bernthal's portrayal) will always mean something to me as a person because of how well I resonated with him at that time.
See, if I wanted to see more Punisher, I'd read the comics. The best part about the media of film is how it does Frank justice so much. You really get to know Frank Castle as a person, as opposed to as the Punisher. And while I love the scenes where he's killing everyone, I think the scenes where Frank is able to face his own character flaws or speak FRANKly to others are much more powerful.
It works well because Castle's internal dialogue is an important part of the comics
many people dont like the punisher show and say its very different from the commics
i tihkn its a more realistic depiction
Glad I'm not the only one watching the Punisher series this year. I really enjoyed it a lot more than I expected to.
Worth the wait. Nice job, Leo. I think that it's really more of The Frank Castle Show as opposed to The Punisher, but... oh, well. Mr. Jon Bernthal still kills it.
Technically, Castle, Russo, Schoonover are FORECON Marines; Curtis Hoyle is a Navy SARC.
Agreed haha. It was more so Punisher in Daredevil season 2
I always felt like the odd man out because I actually liked the show, both seasons. Giving Frank more of a character outside "cold murder machine" was always the better route for a TV show that spans multiple episodes, and I actually liked the development he went through.
@@SquadPoop Oh, do not get me wrong. I still loved the show. Mr. Bernthal kills it; the acting and writing all around is really good. I just find it weird that he is the Punisher in ‘Daredevil,’ but then not as much in his own show. I still like how they flesh out his character, and, as I said, Bernthal is just phenomenal.
I’ve seen Jon in a few things, but the stuff I saw he was the background character, he was good but not a standout, this show and Daredevil shows how great he can be, how raw and real and I can tell this show will ALWAYS be a part of Jon, cuz since then he’s got ticks like Frank, it adds a certain charisma to his acting in other roles
This entire show, slow or not, was character studies, I love this kind of stuff and it tackled so much and it felt so real, yes the 2nd season is weird with certain storylines, but I still cared a lot
He was equally great in the early days of the walking dead, when that show was genuinely good character study material.
@gamecubits I'd fully agree. I fully hated shane in WD but loved Frank Castle. Jon made that so easy, great actor.
I liked Pilgrim because, unlike Frank and Billy, he was a terrible man who did everything to leave that life behind. It was only out of desperation that he returned, and even then he did so reluctantly, eventually forced to continue under threat of violence to his children.
Frank is trapped in a self-destructive spiraling cycle that will see him dead eventually. Pilgrim is the one of the main three who actually has the ability to walk away at the end. Billy dying leaves Frank alone to walk that destructive path. Because it's all he really knows.
Pilgrim got the chance to distance himself from that violent life and find a semblance of peace and redemption. Frank never got that chance.
3AM is easily the best episode of Punisher and one of the best Pilots ever
You are just churning these out lately. Awesome.
I am rewatching it rn! I just finished DD. I love Frank Castle, he's my fav MCU character. I just love his flaws and his psychology so much
If there'd been a Season 3 I wonder if it would have been based on the Welcome Back Frank story where he goes after the Gnuccis.
Was just binging content I missed and here comes a brand new video yay. I absolutely love your videos from content to pacing its fantastic listening (with some watching) keep up the excellent work.
9:35 The worst part of Season 2 was how they did Billy as Jigsaw. Frank scarred his face so he'd always remember what he did to him but in S2 they had him forget. And if they'd played up Billy's narcissism and had him think his face was ruined even though he only had a few scars it could have worked. But characters reacted as if he looked like comic Jigsaw when he didn't.
I was never a fan of S2 for the reasons you mentioned but seeing it put to more meaning like this is fascinating. Lets me appreciate it a bit more
Wonderful way to frame the second season. Time for a rewatch. Thanks!
Season 1 was so perfect. Then season 2 felt extremely disconnected. Couldn't watch it. So thank you.
19:55 awe, thanks man. love you too.
Absolutely amazing breakdown
Frank is a just a soldier in a never-ending war
At long last, you finally gave us this video. Thank you Leo!
This video gave me some new insight into my own trauma so thank you very much for creating this great content 😊
Love all your videos, but this may be my favorite so far. Great job
I guess you have a Doctorate in Trauma 😂, just about to see the video, whenever you upload a new I'm always Excited and hyped.
Yet another phenomenal breakdown of the depth and meaning of an MCU live-action/animated/comic/video game breakdown. Excellent work. As always can't wait for what you do next with Marvel videos and I would love to see a video dissecting Spider-Man and Black Cat's Relationship throughout the decades of comic issues and story lines in Earth-616.
I loved it. As always, Great vid. Good spotlight essay.
One of your best. Just awesome. Keep up this awesome, spectacular work.
Take as long as you want!
Very worth the wait! Great work!
something told me this was coming but man oh man did you knock this out the park amazing video man as always
I hope they bring him back in the MCU, but at the same time I kinda don't, 'cause I'm afraid they may not do Jon Bernthal's incarnation justice, or even just shy away from the intrinsic brutal aspects like they did in Hawkeye.
I dunno, just like with the Netflix shows' Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, I think they've got something really special going on with this Frank Castle, and I think it'd be a shame to see that thrown away. But if they're not going to commit, then I'd rather Disney not touch the character at all, y'know?
The fact that Disney+ was willing to put Netflix Punisher on their platform (along with all the other Netflix Marvel shows) does sorta indicate they're willing to "keep" the ultra-violent bloodthirsty version of The Punisher. Now, if he ever appears in a mainstream film he'll probably be toned down. But with the darker horror elements of Dr Strange 2, and the migration of the Netflix marvel shows, I am kinda hopeful for a faithful adaptation of this Punisher. (because I fucking love Jon Bernthal as Frank)
There’s actually a way to stay true to the ultraviolent Punisher character while keeping things PG-13. Chris Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy skated that edge very well.
Can't wait to see what you do next your essays have improved so much
The way ive always seen it is Frank is addicted to his sense of duty, and possibly to the violence of it.And maybe thats a response to the trauma of his family dying, maybe not
The Punisher is a basically a Serial Killer for Violent Criminals, its his only way of finding a reason to live.
Love the video. Especially that music bit and how you slid into it so smoothly
Been killing it
You are good at finding themes of these shows, first video I watched was Iron fist/Luke Cage one. I share a lot of opinions from these videos thou for me is trough feeling not so much thought.
I’m so excited, I requested this video ❤️
classical music over violence will never not go hard.
Season 1 was brilliant, loved every second of it and it wrapped all of the sideline stories up in a neat, violent and bloody little bow. Season 2 was certainly interesting, just a little rushed imo. Those final couple of episodes were missing that thing that tied it all together. Pilgrim is sorted with a single scene, and so is Russo. No fight, no big emotional blow out. Just kind of an anti climactic conclusion to so many interesting things. But I wasn’t really angry about it, because the conclusion was still solid, just a step down from the prior season. I especially love that at the end, Frank accepts his role as The Punisher, I only wish we got to see more. Every actor and actress fucking kills it in this series, every moment that the writers and directors want you to feel something, you feel it. Fucking brilliant show
Frank ❤💔
😭
I need to watch the punisher again god damn
You actually listened to me you’re a beast thank you
Really well done.
Wow I was just watching the Daredevil video
Let’s hope the MCU brings him back, keeps him the way he’s supposed to be, rated R and not Di$neyfied.
I for once was actually happy for Frank when s2 ended. Because Netflix's Punisher did for me what other media almost never did. It showed Frank Castle and his humanity shining through the big bad Punisher, and those moments were ones of the best. And while yeah, his relationship with Amy is certainly clichéd, going to reluctant protector to a fierce firebrand found father figure, the way it is portrayed is what makes it so good, like the "you didn't kill him, I just did" scene. The ending of s2 gave me some hope that maybe, just maybe there would be no Punisher. That Frank won't need to be the Punisher anymore, because as much as I like the well-written Punisher stories, there's nothing more I want for Frank than an honest shot at undisturbed healing and being able to resist his own rage, to find his humanity anew. But I guess it's out of the picture now and it's kinda making me sad for Frank.
He's going to be in Daredevil: Born Again, apparently...
I liked Punisher season 1 a lot better the first time i saw it, when it was called Lethal Weapon and Frank's family was still killed in a mob crossfire instead of the baddies crossfire actively trying to assassinate Riggs, er Frank.
With your closing, dealing with new shows and topics, does this mean you might go into what's happening in Doom Patrol?
FINALLY
Funny this is coming after the news that the Defenders shows rights have returned to Disney (so will likely be on D+ or Hulu or whatever)
Yay, more trauma
OH ALSO you better watch moonknight cause i am very hype to see your take on that
Truma Truma Truma Truma Truma
Trumaaa
I just wanna know where I can find a therapist like Jigsaw had.
Ik its a little different buy u should do an episode on euphoria
Will you do the Equalizer, please?
Man, if you want to talk about DID you must watch doom patrol. Love to see your take on it.
talk to me about trauma, daddy
can you do a parallels/comparison between bucky and frank i always felt like they had similar character development moments and traits and idk i think you could put it into words better than i can
He's literally me
Please do a video on the series Dexter
Disney take notes
Frank is a Marine, not a soldier. Is a difference but other than that great video as always
*Marine
So, that was a lie
Love your videos, but just want you to know, calling a Marine a soldier is mildly traumatizing. Being a Marine in the Marine Corps, is a hyper identity, that any soldier in the Army would admit is not replicated in their service.
Both are soldiers.
*Marine, not soldier . Like calling a rottweiler a german shepherd...
I don’t care for punisher in comics or anything, but Jon Bernthals performance makes punisher one of my favorite heroes. But saying you like the punisher is strange, he is a great character but kinda ruined by airsoft larpers.
Trauma mfr
i hope they go to adults swim or something with their wet dream of edgy show loved by kids
and make punisher like he's in the comics more precisely punisher max since netflix show had a lot of thoat
but frankly
netflix's show sucked complete ass
brenthal's punisher was a better punisher when he was an extra in daredevil
Madani is badder than Elektra.
The writing in season 2 of the punisher was very sloppy.
Funny this is coming after the news that the Defenders shows rights have returned to Disney (so will likely be on D+ or Hulu or whatever)
probably Hulu, where most of the more mature marvel content goes, which would suck cuz if its on Hulu they likely wont make them canon
@@Obliterace Well it depends where you are. Here in the UK we don't have Hulu so it'll likely be on the Star section of D+
@@samuelwilkin5 i wish the us had that, so much stuff locked behind that area 😔
