    The Las VegA’s won’t have a home field advantage if locals don’t support because every home game in VegA’s will be a home game for whatever visiting teams fans happen to be vacationing in VegA’s at that time that will go in their visiting jerseys etc… Alot of taxi cab drivers have told me there’s not a lot of local hype whatsoever.

    The A’s averaged 27k a game for 7 straight years until Fisher bought the team. If it weren’t for Mt Davis they probably would’ve had 30k+. Attendance trended downward ever since as ownership turned off the fan base.

    • @oiler62
      @oiler62 2 дні тому +7

      Yup, and a new modern park with nice amenities on the same land would easily draw 30k if the team is decent. The A's said the area is unviable. I disagree. It can be cleaned up, add housing, bars, things to do after the game.

    I would like to thank you guys for covering this. I was raised green and gold. My grandfather and father both. For 46 years I have supported them. After this season I will walk away from baseball as a whole. Reality is that all the casual fans left long ago. Ran off by this horrifically bad ownership. All that is left is… or was… us die hards. As a person that lives in the central valley I could maybe… maybe… follow them if they stayed in Sacramento. As it is an equal distance to get there as it is to Oakland. Even though it wouldn’t feel right. LV is a bridge too far though. It all ends there. If you decimate your hard core base… the casuals won’t waste their time… in a town that is dodger country… how could you ever succeed?

      @@ronclark9724What is this John Fisher’s burner account? In a lot of situations locals subsidize the stadiums with taxes. Besides that, no one said the locals own the team. The original comment is about the team in a new city not having a fan base & every game for the players will feel like an away game (see Chargers after moving from San Diego). In a sport that’s already struggling to combat declining viewership, how can it be a good move to show prospective fans that a franchise they get attached to might end up moving in a few years?

    I think they are so overrated but they did not deserve this.

    My first time to the Coliseum I was eight years old and it was April of 1968, NY vs Oak. Micky Mantel homered in the first and the A's walked it off in 11. My parents were from Philly and their first date was an A's game in 1948, Rene Lachemann caught and Tony La Russa pinch ran for the A's in that game too. My brother worked for the organization at the Coliseum in the mid 80's to mid 90's. By that time I had moved to Alaska, but I always made it down to the Coliseum for World Series and Grateful Dead New Years runs. I snuck into the 89 World Series by going through the front office with my brother, shaking Sandy Alderston's hand along the way (the Haas family, now those were owners). I raised two A's fans by being thier LL & HS BB coach and taking them to a week of Spring Training games every March for a decade. A favorite memory being Mohamed Ali patting my son on the head and giving him an autograph on Barry Zito's leg on the cover of the program. I've watched damn near every A's game since streaming has been a thing, and before that we used to get the A's on TV sometimes on Sundays, the highlight being watching Dallas Braden's perfect game with my son or taking both my kids to the Bar to watch the 20th win in a row. Now all of that has to end because of one man. FJF

    MLB should force Fisher to abandon the A's name and leave it with the City of Oakland for the future expansion team. Just like the NFL forced Art Modell to forfeit the Browns name when he moved to Baltimore

    What a terrible letter. He blames the fans, the city everybody but himself. Basically, he said Vegas is going to give him more money than Oakland could. A sad ending and he deserves to be rebuffed by every fan in every city he tries to fleece.

    Fisher raised ticket prices and everything else. He obviously never wanted to spend money for a great team. All this in order to show that he hardly had any fans. Therefore, it looked like he had fair reason to move the team. I wish he would change the team name so I don’t feel the need to kick his ass whenever I hear it.

      @@ronclark9724 ticket prices more than tripling in 3 years is a bit more than inflation. I’ve had season tickets for 23 years. Obviously prices of everything have gone up. Find infield seats anywhere in MLB ballparks costing more than Fishers “inflation”. Tickets for third base infield level seats are over $200. Tell me where they cost more than that.

    As a displaces A's fan ... the Giants are the enemy ... Its a good season when we end with a better record than the Giants. Ever since 1989 MLB has bent over backwards, to slowly push the franchise out of the Bay, to support the Giants Brand. John Fisher grew up a Giants fan, still has season the family season tickets and has operated the A's in the best interest of the Giants. I'm done with MLB!
