Thank you for the video. I've been ignoring slicers before now but can definitely use them now I know how they work. They make more sense if you put the pivot tables below the original data and each other as then the filtering doesn't impact all three. At the end of the video you should have been able to see Light Bulb,Nails and Paint in both pivot tables and the column headings.

The problem is that the slicer is hiding the rows which causes the pivots to be unusable. E.g. at 00:07:00 you cannot see "Light Bulb" row for August in second pivot since the 18th row has been hidden as per slicers settings. It would be better for slicers not to hide raw data.

      A little late maybe :)
But you can place the pivot tables on a separate spread sheet and make the Slicers on the pivot table. It's working, but of course it's not updating data data-table behind the pivot.

This was very helpful, thank you!
I'm hoping to learn how to filter data within a specific range of dates. For example I want to look at "how many sales did I have in the last 30 days" or "how many sales did I have in the 30 days before March 15th"

Use a custom formula in the filter. You don't have to use a slicer, just use a filter if you want.

Thanks! Very helpful video. Is there any option to make the slicer Single Select? So that you ca select just one Date, not multiple dates?

Great video! At the end the amounts in the two pivot tables are different, why is that?

    At 8:17,
Original data after slicer with three items, but both pivot tables are missing "paint" and "nails"

If we wanna share this via email and I’m using Chromebook by the way, how can I make the table smaller to fit in the body of the email? For some reason I don’t see options to resize it unlike Excel.
Excel can be resized after pasting it on the body of the email.

Hello, With the slicers of a pivot table, I can't keep the format (example wraps)
As soon as I click on another segment, there is no more wrapping and the box is unchecked ...

When I use multiple slicers and if one of the tables doesn't meet up with the condition set, I get a #Ref error and it says pivot evaluates to an out of bound rage. Even when I clear the condition set later the #Ref error stays and the pivot table doesn't appear again. How do I resolve this? Appreciate your support in advance.

Previously I thought about allocating the range slicer in the pivot table, but it turns out it has to be in the source table. Thank You

The trouble is that we can't get the slicer to see new rows; every time I change the source from A1:B123 to A:B, it reverts to the specific range

If I filter a value, the detail sheet still include all the data from that slicer's value and not just the sorted values. It's hard to explain

    • @ProlificOaktree
      @ProlificOaktree  4 роки тому

Maybe you're sorting instead of filtering? Or maybe you're filtering on the wrong column. There's always the chance that the filter is acting strangely as well. They can be finicky.

  • @tracycooper8996

This is silly. The "slicer" causes the table to filter, which hides the rows. The hidden rows are also hidden in the pivot tables, making them no longer useful. How can this video just ignore that??
