Isn't it cool!!? I did sell my 70D. I'm using my Sony, 5D (Nick's work camera) and my Canon EOS M. Sounds like overkill as I'm typing, but we both use cameras for work.
Hi Alli. Ive watched numerous videos showing this wrapping technique and I just couldn't master it at all. But then I found yours and your camera work and narrative made it much clearer to understand. So thanks to you I think Ive finally cracked it - cheers. Also, (and meant sincerely) I think you have the most amazing eyes. Take care and all the best. 👍.
Thanks for the great idea! I decided to use all the plain brown packing paper (that came with things I ordered) as wrapping paper this year but couldn't figure out of way of not using tape.
gift wrapping is the perfect time to use up scrap material. ive sown simple draw string bags for each of the presents im gifting this year and so they'll get the bag as an extra present as well! i use these kinds of bags for zero waste shopping so it could help them to reduce waste to. ;) alternatively you can wrap them in canvas bags or buy a nice secondhand scarf.
This is so awesome! I was already planning on wrapping using only paper and twine, but I wasn't sure how I was going to fold it and have it stay together. This is perfect!
This is great! I spy Who Gives A Crap's Nice tissue paper lol. I've also used a glue stick for securing wrapping paper! I found some plant based glue from a brand called Onyx + green, and it works even better than regular glue sticks
This was so therapeutic to watch, of course the Japanese wrap their gifts like this, haha. So cool. Alli, what are your thoughts on washi tape? From what I've read, it seems like a really good alternative to plastic tape. Would love to know what you think!
So true! Yea I'm pretty sure washi tape is biodegradable (and if so) would make a great alternative to plastic tape. I can't seem to find washi tape that isn't sold in plastic packaging though.
Alli Cherry Ah yes, how unfortunate! They do always come in plastic packaging. 😐 Well, if you wrap your presents like this, there is no need. 😊 Thanks for replying!
Awesome! I'm gonna try :) The use of tape was upsetting me because I now take care of using compostable wrapping paper (usually newspaper or groceries shopping bags, etc.) but it still wasn't 100% green. TFS!
Ooo ooo I have an idea! Keep a candle warmer near with nontoxic hot wax (beeswax?) and put a little dab where u want it to stay, hold it until it hardens 😁 viola
Love this technique! Alli- I also wanted to let you know that your description box still mentions the cherry travco, just wanted to let you know in case you wanted to change it to reflect your new wheels!
Important note: this doesn't really work for larger presents! Just tried it. But you can make it work by glueing the edge down instead of folding it under :)
You're probably not doing anything wrong. I tried it too and it didn't work. But my gift is a lot larger than the one in the video. I'm guessing you'd need to add more than 2 inches on the side. You can still get it to stick if you have glue
This year I bought a few gift bags. There is a shop on Etsy that I'd highly recommend. She makes her bags from leftover scraps of other projects - Lynn's Little Shop (www.etsy.com/shop/LynnsLittleShop). i plan to have the bags returned after the gifts are opened. Is that rude? I also got a few multi-purpose bags that I can use for birthdays or other gift giving occasions.
I tell people that I’m happy to take the bag back if they don’t want it, and if they do want it then great, just please reuse it or regift it so it doesn’t go into the bin.
Every tutorial I ever watch, it doesn't amtter how closely, I am incapable of wrapping shit to a standard that looks good and everyones wrapping paper is perfectly cut, and never pissing curls on itself no matter what you do,
You didnt use tape so saved but used string which costs more.....me thinks you defeated the purpose of no tape along the line somewwhere but good wrapping.
I bought the string 5 years ago for around $4. My main concern here is not using plastic tape because it will stay in a landfill forever, I much prefer compostable options! ❤️
It looks like cotton string so if it is, yes, it's compostable. But you can also use (real) yarn (not the acrylic one, that's basically plastic!) or jute twine, that's very affordable, compostable and re-usable too! (and pretty)
The camera angle is tricking me. Especially flipping between seeing it from the front, and then above but the side closest to you is at the top of the scren
Good presentation....better than some..... you didn't try to go too fast so your audience could actually catch on... thank you!
OMG this is so cool! Everyone needs to know ASAP. Did you keep your 80D after all?
You commented on the video I watched before this one (Kristen Leo) Small world!!! :)

The only reason why im watching this.... I Don't have tape lol
omg lol! Hope it helped!

I am 5 years late but that crunchy paper sound 😍😍 Thank you for your video!
Thanks for watching! :)

This was easy to actually follow, especially the measuring the paper part- that always gave me problems. Thanks!
i audibly said WHOA when you did the crease things holy but this is so helpful yay thank you!!

You're so right! And yes, I love using scarfs or bandanas to wrap too.
this is a better video than the last one i just saw
I always look forward to watching your videos Alli! You have such a way about you on camera, that is just so beautiful. Thanks for sharing ❤️

Great idea, it's all about small changes!

I didn't even think to look up videos like this! THANK YOU!

Hi thanks! How can I do this if the gift it’s not a box? It´s more like a bag?
Wonderfully and clearly explained. You are Amazing and so is the gift wrap. Thanks for the detailed tutorial and thanks for sharing and caring. 👍👍👍💕
This is such a wonderful idea! I did not know this was even possible. Thank you so much for sharing.
I used a chip bag from the garbage to make shiny silver wrapping...
I uploaded a video similar to this the other day! Such a great way of wrapping and so much better for the planet. 🙌🏼
Nice!! I'll check it out!
Whaaat!? What a great technique. Thanks for sharing!
Ooo ooo I have an idea! Keep a candle warmer near with nontoxic hot wax (beeswax?) and put a little dab where u want it to stay, hold it until it hardens 😁 viola
Literally mind blowing! not even kidding lol

I’m going to need to practice but this is so cute!
So cute!! Love it
This is SO awesome, Alli! Thanks for sharing! 👏🏼
Thanks for watching, Jenn!
I love your bandana!!Where is it from?
Does anyone else find the crinkle of that wrapping paper therapeutic? Anyway, thank you for a nice and slow step by step tutorial!
Wat do one do if u r dealing with slippery wrapping paper and hard plastic texture??_?
GENIUS!
Love this technique! Alli- I also wanted to let you know that your description box still mentions the cherry travco, just wanted to let you know in case you wanted to change it to reflect your new wheels!

I'm still in shock!
Important note: this doesn't really work for larger presents! Just tried it. But you can make it work by glueing the edge down instead of folding it under :)
Cool. Thank you..
Fab 💗
This didn't work for me and I followed all of the instructions. What am I doing wrong

What a cool idea! I don't think it's rude, maybe just explain what you're doing ;) love it!

Who is here 2020.im wrapping the gifts and my mom forgot to get more tape don't wanna wait until to tomorow
This does not work with boxes for color pencils so beware ;-;
You didnt use tape so saved but used string which costs more.....me thinks you defeated the purpose of no tape along the line somewwhere but good wrapping.

😍😌👏🏻
That paper though... makes my skin crawl and it's so wrinkled eek. But awesome otherwise
I like your voice
The camera angle is tricking me. Especially flipping between seeing it from the front, and then above but the side closest to you is at the top of the scren
What logic is there that I don’t have tape but I do have some damn twine?
such a beautiful lady
Ribbon/string?! That's even harder & it takes longer.
Bakvaas
Hii

I'm not wrapping it up with string. 😂😂😂 It's not 1850. 😂😂
Should spend more time sorting your daft name out instead of doing this.
Rhis is useless
