  • As European leaders warned of sabotage to the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines, Poland and Norway inaugurated a new conduit that will reduce dependence on Russian gas. It underscores the urgency of EU economies' search for new energy sources. Also in the show: correspondents Nick Spicer and Anne Mailliet report on the German businesses being forced to close because of high energy costs, and the pound sterling stabilizes a day after historic losses.

    The probability that Russia carried out the attack is almost zero. Moscow, to prevent the transit of gas, could have simply closed the taps, simulating an accident in its own territory, not abroad, or, more simply, other maintenance work, as already done previously. Sending a Russian naval unit into the shallow waters of the Baltic to carry out sabotage in an area heavily controlled by NATO forces would be foolish, because if the saboteurs were discovered Moscow would have made an international fool. The risk is not worth the candle. I note that the two explosions were not simultaneous and that the first would have alerted the NATO ships present in the area, making the success of the second sabotage even more difficult. If it were so easy to sabotage the marine gas pipelines without being discovered, why not blow up the new gas pipeline between Norway and Poland that has just been inaugurated, if the goal is to reduce gas supplies to the European continent?
    Some say that the attack was committed in order not to make Gazprom pay penalties for any failure to supply. Of course, with all the Western sanctions and the seizure of Russian assets in the West that Russia has suffered so far, is now Gazprom also expected to pay the penalties? Moscow would certainly have blocked any penalties.
    The situation, after the annexation of the Donbas territories, is destined to worsen rapidly.
    If the Russians use nuclear weapons, the embarrassment will be entirely for the West: to do nothing and show that Ukraine basically does not matter to us except as a means of weakening Putin's regime, or intervening to provoke the Third War World and the disappearance of humanity from planet Earth?

    • @banger2998
      @banger2998 Рік тому

      The only way to sabotage a pipeline isn’t to send out special forces they could simply load it up with things that’s not supposed to be in it and it will end badly very quickly. The best is that you can then convince people you’re somehow not responsible and get them making conspiracy theories to further destabilize the west it’s very smart by the Russians.
