I can only assume that the reason he still uses the dull blade in cutscenes might more like the reason why unreleased 5 star characters aren't seen with their signature weapons when we first see them. We just aren't in a point in the story where Hoyo has given the traveler his signature weapon in game.

The best take for I've seen giving reason why that was such an easy fight was PTSD and her whole thing kind of involving hypnosis so it wasn't a power battle one on one.

I didn't expect him to win let's be real, but yes, Arlechinno should have struggled more. It's not every day you met someone able to switch between 5 elements at will in teyvat. That make the traveler the most versatile character. Even if he lacks of raw power

I don't mind traveller losing but what about dignity. This type of thing has happened multiple times.
I now genuinely think that traveller has lost his memory totally after waking up, because there's no way someone who has travelled multiple worlds would act like that. I'm not just talking about strength but mindset too.
I hope they atleast make reasonable scenarios later on.

forget fight scenes, the traveler doesnt even use elements in other important scenes. Traveler grabs touma's vision in lightning speed, fights ei in lightning speed, but when navia almost died in the archon quest he just ran normally :v like bruh. And dont say he was using only hydro blah blah blah, this video is shows where he used anemo n geo against childe, even when he tried to break into nahida's mind he used anemo when the clothes were dendro.
They have to be shafted to make other characters look cool.

The Traveler just isn't as strong as y'all think you are. Even his most "legit" wins are against a Signora very much out of her prime and Childe, who completely surpassed them in Fontaine.

she literally mocked us with NO effort. she just showed her powers to us (the moon) and didn't even bother. come on like we beated the tartaglia. (narval was helped by Neuvilette so it doesn't counts)
@@emranao if childe used only the delusion he would've deated the traveler, but he got pissed out and used foul legacy, and because it was a recent ability of his at the time his body couldn't handle it. Once again, if childe sticked to using only the delusion he would've beaten us, he was literally troving us around in the cutscenes, and the Geo ability traveler used on him, wich even caught him off guard still literally did nothing to him, he just tanked it with no damage

About the blade, the Traveler actually uses the Silver Sword during more public duels and competition. Guess they have one hard use sword and one fancy show sword, ha.

I just brought that up in a comment 😂 like genuinely the fact that in story The traveler can just use all the elements at the same time I don't remember if elemental reactions are shown in the story but my God traveler can do it by themselves.

I don't have a problem with traveller not winning, but were they sleeping when fighting the 4TH HARBINGER. Mf used different elemental skills only 2 times so far....
I saw another person comment that the traveler using the elements was something that happened during the actual boss battle itself. The cutscene we saw was just the end of the fight, where the traveler was probably too exhausted to use anymore elements, and I agree. People act like the cutscene was the whole fight, when it’s just one part of it. This is still a video game, most of the actual battle stuff is stuff you do yourself, while the cutscenes just show the aftermath.
@@ezrasolis4195 Sure, the cutscene wasn't the whole fight but do not, for a second, tell me that the way they lost wasn't shameful to you. We've seen the Traveler being exhausted many times before but they've always fought to the bitter end.
If they're gonna make them lose at least let them lose with their dignity in tact. It doesn't matter what you're gonna say, the Travelers are going to be treated as a joke until the next major story quest. If they do this again, may god have mercy on Lumine's soul~

No one’s ever satisfied. In media it’s always losses like this that open the room for the characters to make huge improvements and developments, which is what I expect to see in Natlan.

As funny as it is to see everyone rag on traveler using dull blade it’s mostly their as a place holder, imagine how much animating they’d have to do for all the sword weapons, and then they’d have to do even more work for the newer 5 star weapons

I have never seen a single weapon breaking in genshin impact cutscene, even Kazuha's fillet blade and Freminet's the bell doesn't break after parrying shogun's musou no hitotachi and the knave's bloodfire scythe.

I wasn't surprised tbh when the only times he used elements, was he almost died to childe (without being lockdown by domain btw....) speed boosts, and inanimate objects. Otherwise he prefers sword fighting, if I were to make up an answer, he got thrown into a random word with new powers from nowhere...
If you think about it, they don't have to put much effort on just a character story quest. It's not like this is a main event or an archon quest.
And plus, it's Arlecchino drip marketing so they want to show how strong and how hot she is compared to MC.

That's because he loves fighting, he grew strong with each fight,to the point that being able to fight narwhal for a long time.

Both got stronger since liyue not only chidle lmao , the fact childe lost Traveler 2 elements even in his final form and got trained by a strong master , that's embrassing , how can he against 5 elements traveler with battle experiences with god before ? Traveler didn't get buff shit while fighting narwhal from neuvi , where do you get that information ? nevi can't even defeat the whale by himself without traveler help since he was busy to handle the primordial sea .
You know it could have been cool for the Traveler to use “festering Desire” during this fights for better lore implications

I took as more of a case of them not wanting to draw to much attention to themselves, being able to use elements without a vision is strange enough but being able to use *multiple* would be insane. Out of universe though, it’s just the siblings needing to jobb to make other characters seem cool.
Who's going to tell here, and arleccino is a strong individual that he shouldn't take lightly like that.
Yeah it makes more sense to just go ahead and use it, like you're going against a very strong individual with somewhat questionable morals. Whip out all the tools in the tool kit.

@@thomasraines1396 the problem is that the futui, the only witnesses to this fight, already know we control multiple elements without a vision. They've known since our flight with Childe in the golden house and they should know we have electro since we've shown that off in public multiple times

Nobody thought that the traveler probably used all his elemental energy offscreen considering we’ve already been fighting her for a while and his skills are on cooldown. Also the fact that Arlechinno attacks are so powerful and fast, it was difficult for the traveler to use elemental techniques. Like mage against an assassin.
That's not the problem. Cutscenes are made to show what we were capable of that the gameplay often limits us from. Using them all, as you claim, offscreen defeats the purpose of the cutscene~ The Traveler losing like that heavily implies they never tried using anything, their movements were amateurish and their focus easily broken. You can see the fear in their eyes that they have learned NOTHING in the years they've traveled.
You cannot deny the fact that the way they lost discards any, if not all, development they've had thus far. We're lucky this wasn't mainline or archon quest, the shame would've been much worse.

@@MiyashiruX But it doesn't though. By now, we have a good understanding as to how Traveler fights. In this case, what would showing the whole fight do for storytelling? It isn't the Scara fight or the Childe fight, where having the elements in play is actually useful or advances the story. If anything, I suppose using the elements on Arlecchino and showing that they do nothing could help drive that sense of "Oh crap", but we also saw her stop a broadsword with one hand and Lyney's elemental use of pyro didn't even do anything. There's enough "Oh crap, what the heck do we do?!" I think, by that point.
On the outset, it's made clear that this is not a fair fight. There's no use in pretending that it is. Traveler knows that they're outmatched but they've also sussed out the reason why Arlecchino is agreeing to the duel before it even starts. And Arlecchino made it clear: fight with everything that you've got. With the kids' lives on the line, there's no reason to assume that Traveler wouldn't do exactly that. Why do we need to see Traveler use everything? Why would we assume that they would think this is a great time to *not* use elements? Why does it need to be spoonfed to the audience? Does the developer really believe that the audience would think that Traveler wouldn't take it seriously and do exactly as Arlecchino demands? Knowing what we know of the Knave, would she respect the Traveler's strength if they didn't use everything at their disposal or worse, dared to hold back when the lives of their friends are on the line? Something that they've never done and are known to not do?
Besides, where would such a moment fit in, from a story boarding perspective? Throughout the game, element usage between characters has always been used to denote the characters that are most important to the narrative surrounding the fight. As it stands, this fight is framed as between Lyney's will vs Arlecchino's, with Traveler and Lyney's siblings acting as support. IIRC, neither Freminet nor Lynette use their elements, either. The only ones using element of any sort are Lyney and Arlecchino. Traveler is not the important one in these cutscenes, just as they're an observer to the narrative as it plays out within the HotH. Other examples: The Signora cutscene, for example, the only one that uses their element is Raiden. Traveler is the catalyst for Signora's death, but the narrative isn't about Traveler, it's about The Shogun taking back control of her nation by killing Signora. The usage of Electro is used to denote who has power in this cutscene, the one that is most important within it. With the Scara fight, only Scaramouche and Nahida use elements, Traveler is, again, a catalyst, but the narrative isn't about them. It's about Nahida and Scaramouche and their fight. Conversely, the Childe fight is about Traveler and Childe, narrative-wise, so they get to use element. When Traveler uses geo to redirect the boulders, it's made clear that Traveler is the only one standing between that rock and the people in Poisson. We see it clearly in the Traveler's fight with Ei, as well, when the elements of the people are brought in to assist in changing Ei's mind. Traveler uses Electro to rush to rescue Thoma after Shogun uses electro to take Thoma's vision. Thoma is relegated to observer while Traveler and Shogun become the main focus of the scene. Following this is the casual use of electro by Shogun to walk down to Traveler's sceneic level, which reinforces the power dynamic, even though she's voluntarily given up the traditional "high position" that denotes power dynamics. Yes, she got on his level but they are still not treated as equals in the scene.
From what I can recall, element is NEVER used as "just a tool" for those involved. It's been the flavoring used to show the audience "These are the big players of the scene, look at this power clash!" It also helps with keeping Teyvat and its inhabitants feeling cohesive. It's not a land that Traveler just got iseka'd to and has turned into their playground. It has its own people with their own lives and conflicts that Traveler gets to watch and experience. Have they helped? Yes. Are they a hero? Yes. But there are just some conflicts that an outsider to the world should not have control over. Using elements, a power that is ultimately foreign to the Traveler, as a vehicle to show this is brilliant and consistent storytelling.
Not how it works in the lore I'm afraid and also things like their manga and other written works, you can pretty much use elemental power until you run out and considering we've seen scenes where a traveler is exhausted we know what that's supposed to be like so if they want to convey that they could have,
The only excuse they have for handling it the way they did is they ran out of time for some reason. And if they had a story reason it would be the fact that she can hypnotize her opponents so maybe she hypnotized The traveler, shown it or told it.

It's one thing if they said with some line of dialogue where it's like they've been fighting for 30 minutes or something absurd so you can just assume that traveler has exhausted themselves and no matter how ridiculously physically strong they are or how much energy they pack they just can't go anymore, and the top it off we have seen the traveler exhausted before so if they wanted to convey that they could have just used their previous work as an example of showing and not telling to convey the fact that the traveler is exhausted,
And if they don't want to do either of those they shouldn't have made the fight in the first place. You always show and if you don't show you the very least need to tell but they didn't do either, and they already had the template set for them being able to just show what they were trying to convey. I've only seen the theory once but there's the theory that she hypnotized The traveler and it kind of flared up some PTSD from yesteryear 500 years ago, that's also another case of if that was what they were trying to convey you need to either show or tell preferably show, but they did neither.

If you've been a gamer for a long time, you should already know the logic there. Maybe he use elements too, but it's not shown in cutscenes. Because, after all, it's still a VIDEO GAME, you need to play to progress to the next scene. The cutscene is just an aftermath of the battle in the game, so don't act like it's the whole battle they had.

MIhoyo's budget is running low, or maybe they changed the writers team and decided to go for an enigmatic route. Eitherway, it's only 3 Nations left, they better get creative on that story telling.
