This was one of the first underground songs uploaded to youtube....it was played many many times because there wasn't much else to listen to. This is the first song I lestened to with a "touch screen" device.
I have a lot to say, but at the same time, my thoughts are scattered all over the place. It’s an understatement to say that I used to be a big fan of Children of Bodom. I first got into them around 9th or 10th grade. A guitar playing friend turned me onto them and before I knew it, I was obsessed. I was constantly listening to their albums, watching videos on UA-cam, attempting to find as much information about him/them as I could, and posting on the band’s forums. Thankfully, I was able to watch CoB multiple times. In fact, CoB was my first metal concert back in October of 2008. I wasn’t accustomed to how concerts were, so I wasn’t able to enjoy them as much as I would’ve liked. By the time they came on, I was exhausted and wanted to leave. I didn’t, so I was practically falling over while trying to enjoy the band as best as I could. After that, I got to see them again around 2010, but I don’t really remember when it took place. Unfortunately, the band’s set was cut short due to Alexi having a broken arm, or something like that. The band played maybe 2 songs before Alexi walked offstage. Still being a teenager, I was upset. I was bothered that I wasn’t able to see my favorite band and I was on the verge of tears. After that show, it was a while before I got to see CoB again. I still enjoyed listening to them, but I was starting to outgrow them a bit and I was listening to all sorts of music. They still meant a lot to me, but I could go months without listening to an album of theirs, something that normally wouldn’t have happened at the peak of my fandom. Knowing how much Alexi Laiho and CoB meant (means) to me, I still checked them out whenever they released a new album or were in town. Even if I wanted to feel as how I once did, I just didn’t. The band had changed and I just preferred other kinds of music by that point. A few years passed and I was eventually able to go see them again back in 2019. I didn’t know this at the time, but it was actually the last time I’d get to see CoB and Alexi Laiho. Some time after that show CoB broke up and I was greatly saddened to hear this. Like I’ve been saying, the band and Alexi meant a lot to me. I don’t want to keep repeating myself, but it’s worth mentioning because the band and Alexi really are important to me. At this point, there’s not much more I can say. For the next week or so I plan on blasting his music and watching a concert DVD I have. All I can say is rest in peace, Alexi. We never met, but your music and guitar playing meant a lot to me.
Remember that cause it was 2009 or 2010. They were messing around I think he broke his rib so I couldn't imagine being up there alone trying to sing. He said no matter how much I drink or what I take its fucking hurting so bad. Here in Detroit they played dropped off the tour like 2 shows later. Saw them 2019 too for the last time 6 times altogether but damn didn't know it'd be the last, My favorite band ever and Shredder!!! RIP WILDCHILD LOVE YOU COBHC FOREVER!!!
Phobophobia I've watched this video plenary of times and I only just noticed it after reading this comment hahaha! Weird how some people can pick things up like that and others, it just goes right over there head haha
Nobody say there's another (melodic finn)metal band in this world which so damn great and powerful and unique at same time. I've never met anyone, but please tell me if it,s exist!! I come back after all of these years to listen their music and fuck it's still hit me to the ground in a good way of speaking of course!! They're brilliant!! When i was a teenage girl, Alexi was my full time love, my everything, his music, his personality. Now I've growned up but this love still goes on for their music...and it's okay still for Allu a little bit😘 time has changed but nothing can change his/their awesomness, their brilliant talent and greatness of this music. Maybe it was a little bit sloppy but i don't care when i hear it i've got boose-bump and fill my heart with lots of deep emotion. Thank you guys you exist and all of your fantastic job and everything! Love you: a passionate "old" fun of you😚😚🙂🙂❤❤
first bodom song I ever heard. When I went to secondary school, my classmate put this song up to his facebook profile, I listened to it and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. I've been a fan ever since. 6 years since I heard them for the first time.
+Giulio Danelon It's literally a direct rip from Sepultura's song "Dead Embryonic Cells" (The riff is played at 3:15) The reason this sounds like Pantera to you is because this is generic Pantera metal and Not Melodic Death metal.
Not trying to insult them, just trying to understand it. How is this music? They are just yelling, not singing. Can someone please help me understand? thanks
sometimes vocals aren't the main part of music, ears can hear more than just words or lyrics. The musical aspect lies in it's pure music: the rhythm, the guitar riffs, the drum breaks, this is what makes it hard for some people to "listen" to metal. You need to listen to the right things. I admit he may be not the purest vocalist, but the band as a whole have very good musicians.
dude its hard to sing like that, it takes skill also i highly recomend u to listen to their album follow the reaper and listen to the guitar work: melodies riffs everything, alexi laiho is one of the best guitarrists for me
Wow....the first riff of the song is stolen from Sepultura's 'Dead embryonic cells'....yet they managed to make it sound terrible with that horrendous guitar tone. Then they go into an AWFUL Pantera/Hatebreed styled riff that could have been played by any Groove metal, Metalcore or Melodic Metalcore band......followed by a terrible 'Djent' riff that I'd expect from an early Korn CD.....The worst part about it is that it's actually followed by a decent PROPER Death metal riff that is ALMOST INAUDIBLE because the drums and the vocals take priority in the mix. If I had to give a genre for this....it would probably either be straight Metalcore (In the vein of hatebreed, Earth Crisis or Lamb of God.) or Melodic Metalcore.........(although one of the least melodic...and most simplistic Melodic Metalcore songs I've heard in a while.) In case you're confused, I'm not attempting to bash them, if you like this sort of stuff that's completely fine with me....and I'm well aware that they're 'stellar' musicians as I've heard their older material and there's obviously glimpses of complexity in all of their music.....HOWEVER that doesn't mean I need every entry level fan and their mother telling me that if I don't listen to this sort of stuff that I'm 'not a true Death metal fan' or 'don't know what Melodic Death metal is." Anyways, im not surprised that CoB Stole a rifff in this song, they used this song to get into popular metal, but they have such a great songs like Downfall, Needled 24/7, Are you dead yet, Not my funeral, Lake Bodom, Angels dont kill, Trashed, Lost & Strungout...

This album was released in September 2005, which is 6 months after John Petrucci's Suspended Animation was released. Based on this intro riff, I assume Alexi loved that album (Tunnel Vision from 4:30 ) ;)
The "instrument" sounds that they have built in usually compliment metal. I use a Concertmate, and it's a decent enough keyboard, but I hear really good things about Nord.
Check out the second and third album as well, Hatebreeder and Follow the Reaper. Songs like: Warheart, 'Silent Night, Bodom Night', Lake Bodom, Follow the Reaper, Hate me, Kissing the Shadows, and my all time favorite Cob song: Downfall ;D Maybe even the fourth album? You might also like these bands: Kalmah, Ensiferum, Norther, Eternal tears of sorrow, Insomnium, Amorphis (early), Omnium Gatherum, Sentenced (early), Mors Principium Est.
I love the Hate Crew, and if you dont, just know that im probably the only guy who isnt giving you trash right now. Your a big boy, you can make your own choices.
R.I.P Alexi, be one with the Reaper
Came here right after finding out. Shred in peace, Alexi.

240p metal will be a new musical style, like 8bit or 16bit chiptune nowadays.

James Haygreen No
+James Haygreen as a Strapping Young Lad fan I like his vocals, cause they're similar to Devin's
Alexi always reminded me of Symbolic era Chuck Schuldiner. But I think his voice works well with the music. Great man, Great band, Great song.
Noo me too it's fucking great
i saw them in concert last night, and they were AMAZING!!
It's sick how the guitar solo pans off to the keyboard finishing the solo!

My favorite CHILDREN OF BODOM wake up song!!!!
This song is so massive that the universe bends around Alexis Andromeda-sized titanium balls, which is almost touching the ground.
R.I.P Alexi you'll be missed
The first 40 seconds of this song is the best 40 seconds of this band's career. No contest.
This is the album where they started lo lose personality and melody. Thanks that in the last one tey recovered a little.

You have to see Children of Bodom live. Its not another show its an experience you will never forget.
Pour moi l'un des groupe légendaire du metal.
not saying this particular song is testament to it but alexi is and will remembered as one of the greatest metal guitar heros ever
Great song :).
One of my faves, too.
Things I love about this video: everything.
Things I hate about this video: how they cut the build up riffs.
Children of Bodom groupe de metal génial.
A écouter!!!!
This is one of the first metal songs I heard over five years ago. Still epic.
I didn't know Children of Bodom. Surprise is that I didn't know such a good band. I really appreciate the guitar style.
"Wow. Most powerful emotion i've had ever." - Me as a 12 year old

I listened to Children of Bodom when I was 15. 6 1/2 years later I'm still listening. 😈
"I DON'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK"
I have not listened to these guys in years.
I better make it a habit!
I saw them from the second row in Ilosaarirock, Finland!! That gig was fucking amazing and they played this song too :-)
For me this is the best song from these guys...
The amazing keyboard just gives COB a edge on every metal band. Others do have it, but don't shed a candle light to janne jiljami
This is AWESOMEEEE!!!!
Thx for the whole playlist my friend. See you in Wacken!!! \m/
This is one of my most favorite songs by COB!
Cool story bro, tell it again... very meaningful
This video would be the best shampoo commercial ever.
GForceFGT-everyone has an opinion-but why be negative? Children Of Bodom are down-to-earth talented men who are awesome in so many respects-they care about their fans, they play every live show with enthusiasm-if you can't say something good, why waste time and space? and these lyrics rule!!
Thanks for the subtitles.
I often time have to read the lyrics to know what's being said but I love it all the same lol.
Everything a death metal band should be....and more.
