Welcome back to Heroes Next Door! This week, Mike travels to North West Ohio to visit the Liberty Fire Department in the heart of Ada. Updated in 2009, this station is one of the most well-kept we've seen so far. With 27 active firefighters and approximately 120 calls per year, they truly exemplify dedication and service.
The majority of the building's square footage is dedicated to the apparatus bay, home to multiple dual-axle rigs that carry an impressive 7,800 gallons of water. Essentially, this station is their own Tanker Task Force. Whether you're within city limits or in the rural areas, Liberty Fire Department has you covered.
A special thank you to John Donnal, Kyle Zimmerly, and Dylan Hartman for inviting us to highlight this incredible station. Mike put them to work, and they absolutely knocked it out of the park.

It’s not the firehouse that makes the fire department, it’s the firefighters. Great pride in their department.
100% AGREE
Mike , your channel has evolved a bit over the last few months and that’s great . But I gotta say your bread and butter has always been the Station Cribs and Rigs …. Love them. Hope you keep those type of videos going 👍
I appreciate that. We have not forgotten that fact and will continue to bring more. We just wanted to also show some other sides too. Plus I personally have picked up a lot of the work. This whole trip to Michigan and Ohio was done solo. I have a lot to learn. Thanks for all the support !!
My local volunteer department has a beast like that. dual rear axles, ginormous tank, ladder and porta tank racks, rescue gear- AND it carries a ladder truck compliment of ground ladders. It's referred to as "the quad" We're very rural, not much of a town- that's the Village Department, we cover the town around it. They also have a Pierce 75' quint, a Pierce Saber engine at station 2 (currently being replaced), and the newest unit:
A Darley mini pumper/brush rig. Kind of amazing, what Darley was able to do with this- 4 door 5 person cab, 1500gpm pump with CAFS and pump n roll. Front bumper remote turret and spray bars. 500 gal, tank the works. In addition to lots and lots of farms and woods, there is also a large 400 unit higher end mobile home park. (and a smaller not-so-nice one, too) Full of large mature trees, etc. it is hydranted. This unit just makes it FAR easier to get around in these parks- compared to the quad. Thus it is first due on structure fires, EMS calls, CO, etc in the parks.
@@pyroman6000 What platform is your mini pumper? F-550?
@@ml9867 i belive so. Im not a member, my buddy is, so i dont know all the particulars. It IS a heavy duty commercial Ford chassis, though.
Decent amount of compartmentation, but most of the "stuff" is on the quad and quint. This is for attack, brush/field fires, and EMS. Would make a nice source pumper, too, if needed.
Carrying a full complement of equipment qualifies it as a fire engine for a better ISO rating.
This was great and thanks for coming to the house Mike
John it was awesome thank you for the invite. Hope I did you guys proud !
@@HeroesNextDoor you did
Miss seeing you Mike and watching these awesome videos! Thank you for another great station cribs. This one was definitely unique. Their rigs were very well taken care of and the thought process with all the water was impressive in my opinion. They really care and cater for their community. Well done brother. Looking forward to the next one. Stay safe.
Thanks for all the support. There will be much more to come.
Hell yeah, been a long time fan. Glad to see you come to Northwest Ohio
Thanks for watching
Volunteer fire fighter here in australia i love seeing these staions and the rigs over in the usa! Also interesting watching the different techniques we have at working fires! Keep upbthe good work
Thank you for watching we appreciate your support. Have you considered joining our members page to continue to so support?
Wow that is impressive.
Place to see OSU vs MSU game...too...lol
😉🤪
Hey man, awesome video. Also wanna thank you for inspiring me to become a Volunteer Fire Fighter
That’s awesome. You’re welcome and thanks for watching
You should come out to Pennsville NJ to our fire department, we just celebrated our 100th anniversary this year.
we are a volunteer department with some cool trucks. We have a good amount of members with a full time paid ambulance department. Also we just got our new ladder from Sutphen.
Send invites to watchheroesnextdoor@gmail.com
7800 gallons is wild. The trucks are true beasts.
@@joshw1687 calculation is off. He forgot the grass rigs water makes it 8070
Good point
We have plenty of dual axle engines and tankers up here in New England! Very handy in rural areas.
That hand pump is so cool
Very cool !!!!
Keep rocking big water boys! My Department in Minnesota " not to fair from the dame that about went in the flooding this year South Bend Township Fire" love's big water as well. We have a 3500gal tanker 3000gal pumper tanker, 1000gal pumper and 300gal grass rig. with the departments getting smaller and day time turn out not being what it once was. The more you can bring to the fight at first call the less you need to worried about if your going to run out by the time your other trucks arrive.
my hometown!
Hope we made you proud
You should come to North Carolina and do a video at coopers fire and rescue in Nash County
I like the department and I love the apparatus, bit it drives me crazy when they call a quint a "truck". I understand it has an overhead ladder, but if it pumps and s water, it's a quint.
That's the largest Rescue Engine I have ever seen!!!!!
Nice one Mike, liked and shared 👍🏻🚒
Much appreciated
@@HeroesNextDoor 👍🏻
Mike, never knew you were born in and raised in Michigan. You should really get invited back to Michigan more!
Yeah I’ll be back. Always leave time to visit family too 😉
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
You should come to Pennsylvania to check out ephrata fire department and reamstown fire department
I’m just wondering, how do you far from us get on heroes next-door to show their departments
You have to send the invite to get the ball rolling. Send them to watchheroesnextdoor@gmail.com. Include location contacts and info about the station and rigs you want to highlight.
Hey Mike you need to do an episode on the Wichita, KS fire department.
Send the invite!
Would you be coming to Florida particular the east coast just inquiring we have a new station getting built and thought it be cool
Impressive equipment! But that is no "small" house... my dept entire house is probaly smaller then the space those 2 engine trucks take up! Always enjoy watching your videos to see other depts set ups.
Thanks for watching
Here's the question for the host.I know you're a firefighter.Which department are you on
Great job if you ever come to Illinois and need a volunteer camera man I got you.

@@user-yi8km9ee5hAre you gonna volunteer with a local department? Some let you join at 14 or 16 years old.
How do we reach out to you to come visit our dept and set something up?
Send an email to watchheroesnextdoor@gmail.com. Make sure there is an address contact numbers and a brief description of your station and rigs you would like to highlight
You didn't account for the 250 gallons on the brush truck so wouldn't it be 8050 gallons lol
You are correct. Thanks for helping with the math.
Damn only 120, I see why they have a strict policy on making meetings and trainings
