The glass was remade to be thicker than the 2nd gen (1990-1997). The car also received the NHTSA 5/5 star crash protection rating from the government from the 1998-2006 model years. I think for rollover protection having thicker glass does help when it comes to quality and crash resistance. The car does also have velvet window seals, glovebox and front armrest compartment. I've never known another vehicle other than the Lincoln town car which has velvet trimmed window seals, every other car is polyurethane which is so cheap and the seals dry out and rot as they age. Mine is also a 2004 and performance white, just turned over 240k miles recently and has the original drivetrain.
I've driven Town Cars for 35 years and there is nothing like them! My '06 Signature Limited is just like yours and I dearly love it everytime I drive it!
also add the mpg....for a 4,300 lb car with 1980's V8 tech(no turbo, no direct injection, no VVCT), a sold wasteful heavy rear axle vs light weight CV axles, huge heavy old school 4 speed transmission, etc and still 26 mpg on the highway....not bad at all....
Yeah great point as well. Solid highway cruiser but it gets beat up MPG-wise when it comes to city driving. That’s why I’m only averaging in the high teens
Yes and an official 0-60 in about 8.5 seconds! The manual says use regular 87 octane. Truth is, it often runs best overall for performance on 89-91 octane. Put that in, go to dry ground without wind, turn off traction control and slam her. Omfg her tires will chirp all day long and she'll be so much fun to drive!!!
Of all the cars i have owned in my lifetime merc amg, chev z06, shelby gt350, ferrari ff, bmw325is, porsche turbo, golf r to name a few there will be a time when you just gravitate back to a towncar. Comfort, simple dash, full size, reliability. What a luxury car should be. One of the best cars ever assembled out of Wixom, Michigan. Thanks for sharing.
My very first love for the Lincoln town car was a 1981 town car coupe, I fell in love with it at the age of 15 and have owned one almost my entire adult life, my first was a 1984 signature series fully loaded to my 2009 signature limited with 101k on her, the only thing I had to repair is the ac evaporator and the intake manifold both common items, keep an eye under the intake behind the alternator for coolant starting to puddle up that will be the intake or heater by pass pipe changed both on mine to be safe
You are absolutely correct is your comments about your LTC. I own a 2005 LTC and do love it! When my wife got in for the first time she said the seats are more comfortable than our living room couch. When I bought this a couple of years ago, I don’t believe anyone had ever ridden in the back seat! Correct on quiet ride down the highway. I love driving down the road 80 mph sitting on a comfy couch! The only thing you will hate is the dreaded water leak around your fresh air intake that will fill your back passenger floor with about 5 inches of water when you have a heavy rainstorm. On the right side. If you always keep in garage you’ll be ok. Easy fix though. Have fun and enjoy.
Hey buddy! When you get out of work after a tough day, or need to go to, say, go to Michigan with the fam, THIS is what you want to get into!!! I've had a lot of Caddys, still have one, but the Lincoln is the better choice all around. Not easy to find GOOD Lincolns out there!
Hey Mike! You’re absolutely right, she’s the perfect road trip vehicle. I’ve never personally owned a caddy, but I know they’re very nice cars as well. Thanks for checking out the video!
Last Lincoln I had was a '76 Mark 4 Bill Blass edition. I was still driving a '70 Caddy ragtop at the time. The ride on that car AMAZED me!! Caddy has a more sport performance lean to it, but if you want luxury, get a Lincoln!! Happy Trails, Nick!!! @@GetThisNick

I have an 06 town car and I agree with your five likes. It’s a real car with a capital R. I’ve driven it thousands of miles with no issues and always arrive without road fatigue. I even used it as a camper with my wife move the front seats all the way up and put a foam mattress. It was a little tight, but still, I would do it again 😊
Hey I read your comment and I do a lot of driving for my contracting business Across the state I am a die hard Toyota Lexus man I've been reading great reviews about 06 and up in regards to the town car They say 06 and up they have worked out any bugs And I figure finding an 07 with 50,000 miles on it in clean condition will not be a problem Just need something that is going to be durable I am immaculate when it comes to maintenance My only concern is in regards to the air suspension have you had any issues with yours and do you have any advice?
@@kinganwar1 In 2008 they deleted the air ride for traditional coil springs, I have a 2011 model and the ride is a bit stiffer than my 2003 model but still very nice without the problem of the air ride going bad, if I needed to buy another town car in the future it wouldn’t matter to me, and I would buy another one before anything else, you can buy these quality cars for half the price of a Toyota or Lexus, lots of people just don’t know how good they are. Don’t sweat the idea of the air ride so much. When these cars were first coming out, the price of replacing the air ride compressor and bags was expensive because it was newer and it was OEM stuff directly from Lincoln. Nowadays if the air ride goes out, you could get aftermarket air ride from a company called Arnott (arnottindustries.com) and replace it yourself for relatively cheap. It is not as big or as expensive as a job people make it out to be.
So true! Cadillac went to hell after 1981 mainly because of engines. I have owned 79 Mark V, 81 Mark VI, 88 TC and now a 2008 TC Limited and never had trouble with any of them. When I went to sell them, they flew out of my front yard with the first looker, and I never had a buyer come back with a complaint.

While I agree that this generation (03 to 11)TC has a nice smooth ride, IMO the previous gen (92ish to 97) has the best ride because those have a little more float to them. No matter what gen these cars are they are built to last and they are pretty much bulletproof. They do have their quirks but they are fairly easy to work on and you can still find most parts for these things all over.
I’ve heard that white a bit about the previous gen. I’ve never personally had the chance to drive one but I hope One day I could get my hands on one even if it’s just for a day so that I could compare them
Yeah i own a 2010 now but test rode a 96 cartier and the 96 is def more disconnected from the road but not really in a good way as the steering was very vague with tons of play and slightly squishier seats.
I want to say these cars have a special type of metal alloy that the body is made out of to dampen sound as well. This is especially evident while it's raining. Raindrops on the roof have a sort of dead thunk as it hits the roof while other cars that I have been in have a have a distinct metallic sound. I also know that the doors have sound deadening material in them too.
Just acquired an '05 Signature Series 3 weeks ago and have put about 700 miles on it, totally concur with all of GetThisNick's evaluation. In replying to antonioleal900, who rides a Crwon Victoria Police Interceptor, noted a comparison to my 2004 CVPI I've owned for 16 years and am now disposing of due to too many issues to resolve after 248k miles. The LTC has insulation not present on the cop car and the engine air intake has a smaller inlet with a couple of mufflers for suppression of noise into the cabin, sacrificing about 20 hp noticable on acceleration pickup. Once underway, cruising is fine. These are the last true limousines.
I have a 1997 town car. Amazing car best riding car I ever owned. The is probably one of the best v 8 engines ever made. Very unappreciated master piece
Are you me? I have the same color, IL license plate, and a round blind spot mirror! Definitely agree with points 3 and 4, solid quality with sound dampening. We rented a brand new corolla when we were on a trip - my wife, hating this old car, was astonished to see how comfy, quiet, and stable the ride the Town car was. The Lincoln spoiled us because now with think Corollas and other normal cars vibrate like crazy. Another reason for us to delay buying a new car!
What a coincidence! I actually used to own a 2014 Toyota Corolla so I know what you mean. They’re solid for reliability, but it’s just not the Lincoln town car !
Never had a town car, per say, but have had a p71 crown vic. Same car mechanically besides the upgraded police parts.. sway bar, gearing possibly.. but you have a reliable vehicle that was built purely for being driven by people in them all day long. Use motocraft synth blen only, motocraft oil filer only, motocraft plugs and coils.. its a 3-400k mile car, with all the nice leather that the lincoln adds. Great car
Owned an '04CVPI the last 16 years, at 248k its got too many accumulatinng issues to keep up with so its going to the junkyard and for the estimated cost of $10k restoration instead just got an '05 Town Car with 126k and did some repairs on that. Hope someelse restores it or it keeps lots of others on the road. Will miss some practical features of the CVPI like the ticket light, more hp from the wider engine air intake, better view from the bigger rear window, and superior instrument cluster providing a water temp and voltage gauge not present on the LTC. But the trade off is the 6 features pointed out by GetThisNick. Its like turning in jungle combat boots for designer dress shoes. The wife and grand daughters (I'm an old coot) prefer the new ride.
The luxurious comfort 🥰 I'm obsessed with getting one. What year is the car in this video? It's gorgeous. I go back and forth between getting a 2nd or 3rd generation. I looked at a garage kept 96 70k miles in September. It was mint. Guy was asking only $3,000. I missed it though. I haven't seen a deal that good since! I love the 2nd generation, but the 3rd generation is beautiful as well. I also love the 80's Bill Blass continental. Thanks for your work.
I drive a 1988 Cartier Town car almost daily, owned it 5 years and has never broken down on the road, has the digital dash and power Moon Roof, leather, ride and overall quality is high even 30 odd year's later, with basic maintenance they can last a very long time. it's classic luxury
This is when an American car really was as durable and long-lasting as a Toyota or Honda. You could put 100's of thousands of miles on these since the 80's with the 5.0 and it only got better in '91 with the buttery 4.6. You could drive these cars nearly endlessly, nothing about driving these wears you out, just eat up the miles. These will cruise at 90 all damn day.
I have a 91 Town Car with over 200,000 miles. It's my daily driver and has been on numerous road trips. I have friends in their 20's who appreciate the ride and quality of this car. It's the best car I've ever owned!
A young lady asked me several years ago what car I would recommend for her to buy with a limited budget of $3000. I recommended a Lincoln Town Car. I found her one in Knoxville, TN. I found a 2004 Town Car Ultimate like yours but with a sun roof and a special order P71 Police Interseptor Package. The car had 120K on it , and it had served as the Governor of Alabama's chief of security car. It was sold at public auction along with the State Highway Patrol cars when it reached 10 years old and over 100K miles. It was the best of both worlds with ultimate luxury and smoking tire performance. She drove it for years problem free.
I always had muscle cars, and I bought one of these because it was dirt cheap (man bought it for daughters bf, and they broke up). It was a 96 and fell in love. Now I daily drive an 05, and man I love these cars
@GetThisNick also, what nobody really brings up about how well they are put together is the exterior door handles. I've dealt with a lot of wack handles, but these feel very solid. I'll have mine the rest of my life
Hello Nick! Glad you are enjoying your Town Car. I think its a personal choice taking off the chrome/fender pieces. IMHO I would've kept them, because they do compliment the chrome wheels. But it doesn't look bad since you took them off, I saw the After pics. I sure miss my '09 Silver Birch TC, sold it over the summer to neighbor and he loves it. His 80 y/o parents will use it to drive around when they visit from CT. I also sold my '05 Cashmere Edition Thunderbird on BaT in May, miss it somewhat. But liking our 2 EVs, Mustang Mach-e and Tesla Model Y - I personally like the Mach-e better, but eh then I'm a FORD guy! It hasnt even been 6 mos, and I'm getting an urge to look for a 1989 Town Car "Cartier Edition" hehe. Enjoy your car as long as you can. Not too many worries about rust with yours, at least it is garage kept. And be thankful it didn't have one of those "carriage/vinyl roofs" I saw another video of a guy who took his vinyl "Palm Beach Edition" roof OFF and omg, the RUST...all over, and what a mess. Hope you are enjoying all the compliments you get just on the color - Cashmere Beige rules! Happy New Year! Craig :)
Hey Craig thanks for checking it out! A good friend of mine Carmen owns a model 3 and just bought a model Y himself! He lives out in Vegas and also posts UA-cam content on his cars. If you ever get sick of looking at my videos and need some new EV content, check out his page @vegasteslafamily ! He does a lot of longer road trip videos that shows how his Tesla handles longer trips. Appreciate the comment!
My first Lincoln was back in '85. Was hooked. After that I had '87, '89, '91, '93, '95, '97 skipping until '03. Still driving '10, but my "baby" is my '06 25th Anniversary Edition which is basically a Designer Series just rebadged with special color combo at 47K. I'm definitely hooked. Just hate they stopped production. Production. Thinking my next daily driver may be a BMW 7 Series
Hello Nick, Super upload my friend and fellow "panther platform" owner. Question? Did you add the chrome above the wheels and along the rockers? If so, was it difficult to install? Our's is the same color as your's, but needs the extra chrome. Thank you and best always.
Hey! Thanks for checking out the video! So this video is one of my earlier videos on my channel of my car. How you see it here is how it looked when I first got it. That chrome was added by the previous owner. I have personally removed the chrome above the wheels due to worry about rust. I did a video about it on my page. Essentially what happens is water seeps in behind that chrome strip above the wheels, and causes the fender to start to accumulate rust. I personally think it looks better without them too. Check out my most recent video to get an idea of how she looks now!
I recently bought a Lincoln Town Car with 210k miles. The main reason I bought it was for the reliability and being relatively easy to work on yourself.
I just bought a 2007 and at 57 years old this is definitely my car, my F-250 died big time and I had to find a car in one day and I knew from past experience’s with Crown Victoria’s (3 of them) that this vehicle platform was excellent but I had no idea how comfortable and quiet these cars were, I used to be tired and fatigued after a long drive in my truck but not in a Lincoln, I actually look forward to every trip in this car, and when I get to my destination I sometimes just sit for awhile basking in my buttery soft leather surroundings, it’s almost to comfortable to get out of, so yeah I would say favorite thing about the Town Car is comfort and effortless driving.
Glad you’re enjoying your LTC Eric! Check out some of my other videos on the car! I just did a video titled the greatest car America has ever built! I think you’ll truly enjoy it
I am 58, and have a 2006 Town Can and I agree with you 100%. I also have a 2008 Corvette and my wife has a 2014 Edge Sport and I love the ride of the Lincoln the best. You can even push it into corners faster than you think.
I wish lincoln had not stopped making these great cars. I feel there is still a demand for a big American luxury sedan. It's the reason so many people are buying huge pickup trucks and suvs. This is a beautiful car!
I want one because my P71 has been great aside from the wear and tear mainly from the abuse it was put through. I want a grandpa car that will never break down.
Love my towncar but why did they screw up was those plastic door handles on the 03s+ like why did the 98-02 have metal handles and nice handles and the 03s went to plastic that breaks and those junk handle bar holders that fall out and fade!
Ford learned nothing from the disastrous decision made by GM back in the 80's. Current versions of Lincoln models look like old fashioned statues, staying in dealers for an average of two years. To make things worse, Ford has no idea of what to do with two millions, battery-powered F150's. 😢 Chapter 11 looks like a phantom menace in their nearest corner. Unfortunately, a well deserved end. Trophy for the most idiotic management ever there.
300k miles is a lot more miles. I’d take mine on a long road trip no problem, but something with 300k you’d really need to do your research on the maintenance and if it was taken care of properly
Hello, I owned a 2nd gen T C traded for a Lexas 400, regretted my actions later. My brother purchased a jelly bean shaped T C, he enjoyed the car before his passing. I've looked at Cadillac manly because rocker arms and ball joints last longer, more technology and that air ride is not foremost in the back of my mind. Never owned a Cadillac, will just have to see.
Great ride quality but the car is too long. Hard to maneuver and no handling. Like steering a boat. I had to sell mine. Took months to adjust driving it around in Chicago
The way the brakes are set up on that car, it is The perfect car for a new driver. You really feel the weight when you drive it. Young drivers are typically heavy throttle and heavy brake. This car teaches you not to do that
My man! Good stuff but you just kept yapping for about 2 minuities in the beginning. Just get to the point from the get go. N need for a 5 stage introduction.
The glass was remade to be thicker than the 2nd gen (1990-1997). The car also received the NHTSA 5/5 star crash protection rating from the government from the 1998-2006 model years. I think for rollover protection having thicker glass does help when it comes to quality and crash resistance.

Agree with you 💯 the best car I have ever own my 2008 Town car
I love mine
2006 175 k miles
It’s a marshmallow for sure
😎🔥
Well?! What’s something YOU love about the Town Car?!
5 star safety ratings in every category!
@@demri123 That’s true I forgot about that!
@@aimeekrawiec9736 this is a 2004!
My 06' TC is the best car I've ever owned. Same color as yours. Mine just turned 106k and I'll keep it till the end.
That car bad my man 💯🔥🔥 u got me ready to get one next year. Keep dropping jewels 💎 on that classic. Real playa style 👊🏾✊🏾
My boy appreciate you 💪🏼💯

I drive a 1988 Cartier Town car almost daily, owned it 5 years and has never broken down on the road, has the digital dash and power Moon Roof, leather, ride and overall quality is high even 30 odd year's later, with basic maintenance they can last a very long time. it's classic luxury
That thing is a BOAT!
Auntie barb! I agree, one of the best cars to take long distances.
Agreed. My 2004 has 242K and it shows no signs of giving up.
It's like jeepers creepers and Cloverfield monster on wheels when you try to kill it and it still alive
I love my 03 Cartier. This is the last of American luxury cars.❤
I have a 91 Town Car with over 200,000 miles. It's my daily driver and has been on numerous road trips. I have friends in their 20's who appreciate the ride and quality of this car. It's the best car I've ever owned!
I like trunks close really nicely. Great video 🤙
Thank you brother !
They are Grandpa/Grandma cars, as I'm about to pick one up from my 95 year old Grandma, and I'm totally stoked.
A young lady asked me several years ago what car I would recommend for her
to buy with a limited budget of $3000. I recommended a Lincoln Town Car.
I found her one in Knoxville, TN. I found a 2004 Town Car Ultimate like yours but
with a sun roof and a special order P71 Police Interseptor Package. The car had
120K on it , and it had served as the Governor of Alabama's chief of security car.
It was sold at public auction along with the State Highway Patrol cars when it
reached 10 years old and over 100K miles. It was the best of both worlds with
ultimate luxury and smoking tire performance. She drove it for years problem free.
That sounds like such a uniquely optioned town car! Wish I could see it in person!
I have a 2006, just over 100K miles on it. I'd love to have another one but if that happens I'm keeping this one, too.
I have only one thing I don't like about the TC - it's the MPG. Everything else, I ❤it!
I love my 2007 Town Car, just turned 200k miles.
Good video , Nick. I am going to get one soon. Your interior looks pristine. What do you use as cleaners?
I always had muscle cars, and I bought one of these because it was dirt cheap (man bought it for daughters bf, and they broke up). It was a 96 and fell in love. Now I daily drive an 05, and man I love these cars
Just something about them, really a shame that they discontinued these
@GetThisNick also, what nobody really brings up about how well they are put together is the exterior door handles.
Sweet, that thing looks brand new!
Thank you!
What year 7 series?
@@GetThisNick At least '20-'22 I'm thinking 🤔
@@tcheek8591 beautiful cars !
I own a 86 TC, and pampered her better than my wife. 🤭
Lol. That's really a nice attention get it.
You forgot to say bulletproof reliability
I prefer the look of the previous generation, but i'd love to have one of the newer extended wheelbase ones...someday
I recently bought a Lincoln Town Car with 210k miles. The main reason I bought it was for the reliability and being relatively easy to work on yourself.
Very true my 5things u love of this car.
I never owned one but more and more I think I will get one being 60 years old now..
I want one because my P71 has been great aside from the wear and tear mainly from the abuse it was put through. I want a grandpa car that will never break down.
Is this more comfortable and quieter than Lexus?
2006 Towny 180k miles. Air bags break at 125 k miles. Still drives great.
Knock on wood everything has been solid with my air ride this far. Hope to get many more trouble free miles out of it!
Love my towncar but why did they screw up was those plastic door handles on the 03s+ like why did the 98-02 have metal handles and nice handles and the 03s went to plastic that breaks and those junk handle bar holders that fall out and fade!
Little bit of cost cutting measures I’d imagine!
I traded my 90's towncar for a Lexus, regreated my decision to this day.
It's a shame they don't make them like this anymore
Ford learned nothing from the disastrous decision made by GM back in the 80's.
Current versions of Lincoln models look like old fashioned statues, staying in dealers for an average of two years.
To make things worse, Ford has no idea of what to do with two millions, battery-powered F150's. 😢
Chapter 11 looks like a phantom menace in their nearest corner.
Unfortunately, a well deserved end. Trophy for the most idiotic management ever there.
Is it a good buy with 300k miles?
Can it be taken to long road trip regularly?
300k miles is a lot more miles. I’d take mine on a long road trip no problem, but something with 300k you’d really need to do your research on the maintenance and if it was taken care of properly
The lincoln town car is the best
The Lincoln Town Car was what Warren Buffett drove for many years. Because it's no longer made, he has since moved on to Cadillac.
@@alfredlearlyjr1780 do you still own the Lexus 400?
9:43 amen yes. and consoles particularly now are only getting more and more ridicules.
...nice cars except for the interior door arm rest latch & pull strap handles & transmission whine
Great ride quality but the car is too long. Hard to maneuver and no handling. Like steering a boat. I had to sell mine. Took months to adjust driving it around in Chicago
Coming from a ford raptor and also driving a semi truck for a living, I’d like to think I’d be able to manage! Thanks for checking it out James
The way the brakes are set up on that car, it is The perfect car for a new driver. You really feel the weight when you drive it. Young drivers are typically heavy throttle and heavy brake. This car teaches you not to do that
I love my 2001 Lincoln Town Car so much, I bought a 2010 !!
I don’t blame you Nancy! They’re awesome cars!
i would murder someone for to be able to buy that car right now lol
Well don’t do that! 😂😂😂😂😭😭
My man! Good stuff but you just kept yapping for about 2 minuities in the beginning. Just get to the point from the get go. N need for a 5 stage introduction.
There is this thing called, fast-forward, or you could just stop watching, I bet you’re real fun to be around (sarcasm).
If you love the "quality" of these cars, don't ever buy a Lexus....😂😂😂
Worked at Lexus for 3 years
I own one. But, it's a Ford. Seriously. They're cheap for a reason.
