This is one of the best arcade/pinball repair channels out there because you keep it light and entertaining, and you speak plainly so dummies like me can understand. Thanks, Ronnie!
Thanks Arty I'm glad you like it!
What a night and day difference, the playfield looks great! All that work brought a real reward!
Thank you Fernando, we appreciate it!
Thanks, Ron and Joe greatly appreciated pinball machine restoration!
Thanks Spider, we appreciate you watching with us!
Hello! I like watching your channel. 👋
Hello Frosty Boy, thanks for hanging out with us!
You'd be sick of me if I lived closer.
Thanks for all of the good stuff Ron.
Aw nobody could get sick of you Carl Perkins, you're one of the fathers of Rock and Roll!
I never once "POO-POOED" your work!!!!, I think you are doing a GREAT job!!!. you know what your doing!!!!. I am really glad that" others" are taking an interest in keeping this "OLD STUFF" up and running, instead of heading for the landfill!!!.
I love that flip flop mech. It turned out nice, a little ware is always good. At least no fire, YET.
I think we're good :)
Great job Ron. Thanks as always for taking us along.
We appreciate it man
To counter any critics- I really appreciate your explanations Ron, how you do restoring. Matt was good here too, so don't pour lighter fluid on my playfield- gotcha 👍🙂
Avesome as always Ron. You gave us a cliffhanger in Donnies livevideo. Remember?. It was about your dead pal George. Maybe someone left him in an old Atari Sprint 2 back at your storage area? You might consider a scan. By the way. I´m pretty shure that the most of your fans actually should appreciate a filmed "tour" in that area. I would for shure! Thanks again for another great video.
I will have video evidence of George live on Wedenseday's video!
It's getting there and is quite the adventurous series. The merch idea is a good one Ron!
We finally finished it :)
I believe painters call it fish eyes when the bubbles show in the clear coat.love the videos .
Thank you Chip, we appreciate you watching!
I agree with most of your viewers, its your technique and it works for you. You're also intelligent person that can recognize a better technique and if when you want to use that technique, so be it. Yes, there some things you do that I would do different but I respect your technique and add it to my list of how to do things a different way.
Thanks for showing us how you do it so that others can learn from you.
Thanks Michael, we appreciate you watching man!
Ya gotta take your hat off to those mechanical design people...clever thinking...cheers.
Yeah it's interesting how they invented new things to do stuff you wouldn't imagine...
Very well done Ron. That Playfield really came out nice! It looked pretty bad when you started but you gave it a second life. Looking forward seeing those flip-flop tags working 👍
They'll be flipping even extra on tomorrow's video :)
Thanks again Ron! Great video and that playfield did look good afterwards. Can't wait to see that ball a smoke'n. Oops, poor choice of words. Blazing? Nah, anyways I'm "fired" up to see game play.
I'm getting really hot about all these references :)
In regards to the way one does something, repairs, or restoration is all up to opinion. I think different techs have different styles. If someone has a GREAT restoration technique, perhaps they should suggest/explain it rather than proclaiming you did it "Wrong" You've gotten good results with the way you do things, so I'm cool with it.
Let the magic smoke out? Flames? Still works? Amazing.......Matt charcoal burns twice silly man 😁😏 but you are correct about "Zippo" style lighter fluid being Naphtha.
Thanks Ron! Playfield work my fav!👍👍👍
Thanks for watching Gnomey!
Looks great, nice work.
Don't you just love the goofy artwork on some of these old machines?
Yeah it really adds a lot to the game in my opinion. Awesome stuff.
You gotta love this channel! Ron, you’re like Houdini, now you see it (worn, run down), now you don’t. Lol, wax on, wax off! Thanks brother...
I just used the Amazon link to buy some screen protectors and wrist band for mine and my wife's new Fitbits in case you see it on your report. That's ME!
Thanks man!
Awesome! I saw your pop up about getting a shirt. I just put my order in. Cannot wait to represent
Thanks Steve, hope you like it :)
@@LyonsArcade Now I need a My Brother Donnie shirt and I will be set.
@@LyonsArcade Got my shirt today. Love it. My first arcade shirt. Now I need Aladdin’s Castle and Flynn’s (from Tron)
Another great video!!! Keep them coming.
Thanks Woody, we appreciate you watching!
Was waiting for that spooky music like something's wrong. You need a temp gun and check temp if coils see if any are getting excessively hot.with out having to touch it. Great video as always thanks for sharing have a great week.
My father once put Polyken tape on the liftgate of his 2007 Ford Focus to keep something attached to it. When he peeled it off later it took the paint with it.
You can actually get clear varnish which is made specificially for applying over acrylic paint. It's applied with a brush. However it must be done on completely cured paint (24 hours minimum) and you must wait 24 hours between coats if you need to apply more than one coat.
Looks great as always Ron. I’m getting ready for an Amazon order soon so I will definitely go through your link.
Thanks Clint we appreciate that!
That really turned out amazing! So cool to see this ol sucka get a new lease on life!
It's fun to see it come back to life :)
looking good :)
Have you tried eucalyptus oil? I use it for cleaning playfield, as well as switches... in fact it removes dirt and grease from Mylar, playfield, metal of all kinds. I think it’s fantastic for cleaning most everything on a pinball machine.
I have not tried Eucalyptus Oil, i'll have to get some. Thanks for watching Mark!
Naptha = Lighter fluid. I use it when restoring old furniture. Ronnie is right....check a small area first!
Those yellow mushroom pop bumpers kinda looks like the bumpers off a bumper pool table.
And how many times did a say bumpers.
They do! I had one of those when I was a kid...
Hi Ron, can you share what brand/type of clear coat that you use? Wonderful videos!!
Excellent video! Very informative and entertaining! Curious if you replaced the bulbs in kind? Is there an LED compatible?
i see how you left that little pause in after you said- it hasnt caught on fire- just so you could edit in the music later if needed LOL
lol
The music makes it's return in Wenesday's video when I prove George's existence on tape
Much of the minor play area paintwork wear can be fixed with Dr. Waybagger's frosted f
Frosted play field glass......;)
haha i'll have to check that out :)
44:45. Not sure what it’s made out of, but aluminum is non Ferris and a magnetized coil would have no effect on aluminum.
That’s a good point!
The condition is what it is. These were money making devices and the people who owned them wanted them played as much as possible. They didn't think of them as future collectibles. Make them look as nice as you can but you are never going to make them "as new". If a person loves these machines, they accept that they will have wear, especially the best games. People played them!
Perspective. You see the 25c price and think they were cheap entertainment. Back in the day when these machines were 25c, a new comic book was 10-15c. Minimum wage was less under $3/hr. These games were not cheap to play.
That's definitely worth thinking about too, when I was a kid I hardly ever played games because we couldn't afford it...
Great work!
I think I'd be able to repair the electrical stuff on those machines... but I definitely would have to give it to someone else to do all that cleaning. I don't have the patience to sit there and scrub it all clean without jacking up the paint. If it was me, I'd probably take a pic and get someone to make a vinyl wrap and just redo the whole playfield.
You can put a vinyl wrap on it but the problem is after you do that it looks like it has vinyl wrap on it :)
@@LyonsArcade Never said it wouldn't... just that I don't have the patience to clean and detail the thing like you do and that I'd tend to do it the Lazy way, not necessarily the right way.
Are there any pinball companies reproducing EM playfields compared to recent 90's playfields like The Addams family or the getaway?
Not that I'm aware of. There may be some for some of the few really big, high production games like Captain Fantastic or Wizard but I've never seen even those. They do typically make new plastics for the high production games, and even some of the backglasses are reproduced.
I know.
That's what I was thinking.
But Still kind of curious.
Like tommy Captain fantastic and silverball mania late entry to solid state contender..
Oh well..
Sad but true. Electronical mechanical pinball machines
Gets ignored..
Did you notice that guy Matthew went MIA after making that comment about using lighter fluid on the Playfield?
He was busy filling out job applications online :)
🤙
spraying over wax causes what is called fisheye
maybe this says more about me than it does the playfield artist, but... does anyone else see two balls at the base by the flippers and the arrow is the dong?
I'm in for a t-shirt if you start selling merch!
We did! you can see what we've got at www.Teespring.com/stores/joes-video-games
If you found a sega classic space harrier arcade games.
So do we get to see your face when you get to 30k subscribers? :) We've seen Donnie. I have a feeling we saw at least part of Joe once, now we just need to see you :)
I don't think you neeeed to see me, you just think you do... I look like a cross between George Clooney and a young Charlton Heston, except a little more handsome.
From some videos you can tell that he is sporting glasses and pretty wild hair :D
@@LyonsArcade Sounds like you'd be perfect in front of the camera lol :). Seriously though, keep up the great work with the pinball machines, and maybe some arcades again if you have any :)
If you create merch t-shirts, make sure the shirts are the soft poly cotton blend. 100% cotton shirts are thick and uncomfortable and don't sell as well.
I think i'm going to make them polyester
