Selling a Collector's Edition/CE without the game copy... is not inherently bad. Especially for multiplatform releases. It saves them from having to prepare multiple CE packages, you can just order the CE and then pick and choose your console from there. Or in this case, buyers can then pick from standard or digital deluxe afterwards...
However, if they put the "GAME NOT INCLUDED" at the bottom of the page or hide it in the fine print, then yeah, that's absolute scum.
@@malcovich_games you can get the game included if you buy from GameStop but I agree it should be more obvious when it’s not.
I don't mind this, but they shouldn't call it a collector's _edition._ They're clear what it is in the description but "edition" implies that the actual product is included. Call it a collector's pack or something
@tanna_k Its called "Rook's Coffer" not "Rook's Coffee EDITION". This was always a merch box from the store, not a collectors edition of the game
@@PulseAttack It's _literally_ called ""Rook's Coffer" Edition", look at the video or the website
The game is priced reasonably by todays prices.
I don't expect (or think it possible) to include the game in the collectors box. As most games aren't even physical these days.
The game itself looks good to me. Combat was never the reason to buy bioware games 😂 I'm OK with the ME system where I can command companions in combat without body-swapping.
The writers are all seasoned vets from BG, DA, ME. That gives me the most confidence.
The deluxe edition doesn't "come with a million things". It comes with a single set of cosmetic armor and weapons that varies depending on who you put it on, the same as other armor sets in this game. It's quite underwhelming honestly.
Ya & this is actually good by BioWare standards. I’m sure most people don’t need reminding that Mass Effect 3 locked one of the most important squadmates in the entire trilogy behind a preorder bonus when all his content was literally on disc lol.
WHAT?!?!??! They're selling a STEELBOOK Edition, with a STEEL CASE for the DISK that is NOT INCLUDED?
I really want to know what they're smoking. This is some next level high on shrooms nonsense.
This is exactly what bg3 did. I'll never buy one, but it's becoming standard practice. Largely because many platforms are digital-only.
@@quinnbrentson151 as far as I know bg3 was digital release first as it was pc only so it's more understandable but still a bad move. This is from release so it shows the lack of customer care
Because they know the fanboys/fangirls will buy it, so more money in their pockets and more in governments pockets since most likely it will be two separate purchases so they are getting taxed on each.
So the pricing is actually very typical for todays pricing. Since my birthday is around the corner, i know ill be getting the collectors set for my birthday. Ive already pre-ordered the deluxe addition of the game because i want all the armor that comes in it. EA is money driven theres no doubt about that. Thats where you can pick and choose what you spend your money on.
You wont be able to control your companions, but you will be able to give them commands to combo what you're wanting to do and do critical damage. I have the feeling ill prefer this way because i never micromanaged my companions. If they died, they died basically
DA2 was actually my favorite of the franchise for characters, dialogue, and story. I didn't like DAI, in fact I didn't even finish it. It felt like the things I liked in the first two DA games for were put secondary in favor of dumbed down combat and world building. Giving Veilguard a pass.
Didn't finish Inquisition? And jumping into Veilguard? Sigh
@@davidortiz3094 In case you missed what I said in my post I said, I'm giving it a pass, meaning I'm not playing it.
Yeah the classes all have 3 subclasses
I am not an EA apologist but: There is no "trick" to the collectors' edition. EA has made sure that every listing of the bundle says the game is not included, so there is no false advertising here. If players can't or won't read the fine print the onus is on them, not EA. Besides, the logistics of creating multiple versions of the collectors' edition to suit console vs pc players would have been more complicated than this route. They are trying to streamline everything for Veilguard, so I don't get the outrage.
Less of a "Collector's Edition" of the game and more of a "Collector's Bundle" for the release of the game
The plan here was always the same for me as it is with all EA titles: Buy it 5 years from release with all the DLC included for 7 bucks on a Steam Summer Sale.
I know some of you will pay full price, then buy the DLC for full price, and then continue purchasing DLCs as they slowly drip-feed them over 2 years or so... but not me. And I don't understand why anyone would.
If someone came to me and said "Buy the ultimate edition for $100, it's going to lose 90% of it's value in the next 2 years and it's illegal for you to resell it because you don't own it." That would be a very hard sell. But for some reason the average gamer accepts this is a fine proposition.
They literally changed everything that made this game incredible, dragon age origins and dragon age 2 were the best thing ever, now expecting a dumpster fire for what should’ve been my favorite game series
The problem with not being able to control party members is the simple fact that DA's AI has NEVER been good. Every one of the games has moments where you have to hop into a party member and reposition them because the dummy got stuck behind a rock or a wall, or didn't enter the room with you or whatever. On a side note, those cosmetics are just "aight", but overall they're meh, and the Blood Dragon cosmetics just just not good at all.
4:59 the tactical cam was what made this game different and awesome, awesome now we get a POS game…
People are going to pay. It isn't going to be any different when the new Grand Theft Auto comes out.
Isn't DA2's combat system largely considered best in the series? The game is certainly rushed but combat specifically is regarded very highly
7:49 absolutely not for change, don’t fix what ain’t broke… god it’s like they made a great first game and every game since has just gotten worse and worse, I’m about to rage hearing about everything your saying, I’m so livid
I'm so glad Space Marine 2 didn't do that, I managed the very last 1 for the Xbox collector's edition and unlike these shitheads mine included a special alt cover design physical game
Mass effect collection did the same thing with the metal case and no game
innovation isn't good inherently, a new idea doesn't make your game move forward, some ideas that are older and were executed poorly can be executed well now, a new idea has no iteration and the likelyhood of it being executed very poorly is very high.
I'd much prefer a game like fear that was truly ahead of it's time in AI and combat to resurface, i'd want a new crysis 1 not 2 not 3 the first one, which used the best destruction system in a game ever, true interaction with your environnement, i want dark messiah, those kinds of game, ffs starfield is "new" and "innovative" it's actively a worse use of the DAGGERFALL procedural generation system from 30 YEARS ago.
Any collector's edition that doesn't include the game it's a scam in my book.
Is someone forcing you to buy it ? You make no sense whatsoever
@@simonbaribeau4853 A scam is a scam wether you fall for it or not and nobody said anything about being forced to buy it. Are you neurologically deficient?
I like it because I didn't want a physical version of the game
I’m going to review bomb this game into oblivion 😭
Acco talking about dragon age!? I'm so here for it!
I didnt like DAO 2 felt like they were having the weirdest identity crisis ever...Inquisition I liked it no I loved it still had some issues but at least the direction seemed to go back toward origin while looking forward in a sense and doing a great metling into something more uniqie in the genre..then this stuff idk what to call it
saying Origins is broken is a major understatement, you will burst a blood vain in your head trying to get the DLC to work. rivals bethesda in trying to get fallout 3 to work
A lot of these issues occur if you're trying to play theses games on a modern beast of a PC. If you were to play on a PC from 2010 or on a console you won't get the same issues.
6:05 dragons dogma 2 was literally nothing special, these ppl ruined what little made their games good, “just to be like other game” freaking joke….
To be fair, it is *clearly* stated that the game is not included in the listings, repeatedly so.
Also, how would it have a physical copy of the game when people are going to be playing it on multiple platforms? That sounds like a logistical nightmare. How many do we make for every operating system? I can see the reasoning there. It's just a headache waiting to happen - and people would find a reason to get angry at them either way. "I can't believe they only made THIS many bundles for PS5!" See what I'm saying? It would be a losing battle from the start.
I feel like people are hating really hard on a game they haven't even played yet. Will it be a return to form? I don't know. It hasn't been released, so how could I know? The saying goes 'don't judge a book by its cover' - one of the oldest adages ever - but here we are, I guess. (Or, rather, a ROOK by its cover, amiright?) 😂 YES, I am editing that line in. Why? Because I can, that's why. Plus, I should have caught it before posting - dang it!
I'm going into this game the old fashioned way: PLAY IT, then decide. Just like I did with D.A. Origins, Awakening, D.A. II and Inquisition. Everything else is sort of... pointless?
Finally, the price of the game, imo, seems reasonable by today's standards. It's a triple A game and BioWare tends to make games that can go for 60-100 + hours of gameplay, especially if you 100% it - so, it seems fair to me. 🤔
Edit: Because, come on, I literally already wrote why!
I am no longer on gamers side. Yall complain about this stuff and turn around and say for it. Case in point, WOW early access
And yet, I refuses to buy or play WoW EA
the solution is actually easy...they just sell the collectors items as a 'collectible pack' not as an 'edition'....when you say EDITION it IMPLIES the game is included....but you know...EA...its in your wallet...
dreadwolf😢
So... We're upset about physical Collector's Editions being expensive? They'e always been expensive. They aren't pulling an Ubisoft and releasing digital editions worth $130.
Did you get this upset about Elden Ring/DLC Collector's Edition prices? Baldur's Gate 3 Collector's Edition prices? Give me a break. Just be honest and admit that it's because of the childish "hurr durr Fortnite, woke dei" excuses.
Regarding party control: it works like Mass Effect. You don't switch characters, but you can pause and issue orders. I get that some people see this as a downgrade, but I personally find it far more immersive. You are one character. You are interacting with other characters, who are specifically not you.
I’m done with western triple A games. If i cant sell my xbox i will just bin it. Thank hod for the Switch.
Keep in mind that if you going to buy the deluxe edition in ps5 is 100€ (dollars) and if you want the collectors edition with the game is 150€ (then again dollars and without shipping and taxes) in total at least is 250€... yeah.... no. My BG3 collectors edition was 280€ and its gorgeous, hell even AC shadows has an awesome collectors edition for 270€ (with the season passes and dlcs)!
Also for what I noticed, the steelbook edition (empty ofc) is 50 dollars and there's no game, and the book that cames with that is just a notebook.... seriously?
Cry
Yes them greedy Fs at EA are doing it again!!! I just hope the game will be good though.
I wouldn't buy a game from EA if it were $1. Just not worth the hassle.
I would not even spend 10 bucks for this crap of a dragon age game. Not supporting this damn lead on this game.
this is bad
