First identified in 1999, Nipah is a highly infectious zoonotic disease affecting animals and humans, with no vaccine or treatment available.
The World Health Organization (WHO) considers it a priority disease due to its outbreak potential.
Alarmingly, the case fatality rate for Nipah ranges from 40% to 75%, making it significantly more deadly than many diseases we’ve faced, including COVID-19.
