Was the author competing in a cliché contest?
Finding the "male" dialogue really disconcerting, almost gave up listening....
Steve and Margarita Morris need to re-read their own books. DI Hart can take offence if her boyfriend is implicated in a murder enquiry, as she did in Killing by numbers, her sergent, however, is not allowed to defend his girlfriend. What a hypocritical heroine these authors have concocted.
She is horrible in each aspect of her character: as mother, as a house keeper, as a woman in terms of keeping appearance, also normally quite dumb as a policeman. And always, always reminds the readers about tough life of a woman policeman in a horrible world of patriarchy (honestly, this was a novelty in times of the Prime Suspect with Helen Mirren, but now makes me wanna puke). And yet it is by far better than other trash pouring today's entertainment
