you probably dont give a shit but if you're bored like me atm you can watch all the latest movies and series on Instaflixxer. I've been watching with my gf for the last few days xD
New York in '78 was the coolest place on the planet. everyone was either finding themselves, having a party, or getting laid. including me. i was new to the Big Apple. just a country boy looking to make good. but a few weeks and it felt like home. i knew every street, every avenue, every blind alley. i was 18 years old and growing up as fast as i could. i had a room up in Hunt's Point, over Ray's Auto Stores. i had work - doing a little debt collection for the Carlotti brothers. or knocking out liquor stores. and if i needed more, all i had to do was head down to one of Joe's Diners and take money off the racer boys. or maybe hit one of the circuits. from New Jersey to Queens, from the Bronx down to Battery this was my patch, my backyard. so what had i done to deserve so much fun? why was i the guy with all the luck? i'll tell you why...... i was the wheelman. and i was the best.
David Bowie was fond of "A Clockwork Orange" and used bits of Nadsat, the Russian based slang that Alex spoke. In Nadsat droog is friend, as in "Hey droogie, don't crash here" from Suffragette City. Since nazz is fool in Nadsat, a nice double meaning results. Ziggy was both a Christ figure and a fool. Whether he meant both you'll have to decide for yourself.
+Richard Picone There's nothing to decide there. How does "nazz" relate to "Ziggy"? And what's a "Christ FIGURE [my caps]" anyway? Whether you were actually try to say something meaningful you'll have to decide for yourself.
David Bowie was such a special person and a genius because no matter what album or song they are all good...None goes to waste, that's very very rare for a musician or an artist..Although he has a few weak tracks but that doesn't matter as much cus majority of his music is just SO DARN OUT OF THIS WORLD.
This was the first song I heard from the GENIUS that is and will ALWAYS be David Bowie. RIP David Bowie. You will be most missed by your many fans and listeners.
+Valeri Beers Sounds like because HE WAS singing that. It's a recording in play-back, you know. :-) It actually is a biggie. Whether you love this song or not, these things are important.
My mate Warren Piper from 1972 thought the song was " Sufferin' Set City ". 'Set' as in a group or defined number / type of units. Funny thing is Sufferin' Set still works with the rest of the song. :-)
I honestly, until about ten years ago, thought it was, "The smell of Vijectors puts my spine out of place." I had no idea what a Vijector was or if it was even a proper noun. But it sounded pretty important so I went ahead and capitalized it anyway.
There is actually a term for lyrics that people mistake for the wrong ones and often many make the same mistakes.Like in "Blinded by the Light" by Manfred Mann ..."wrapped up like a....I can t remember Does anyone know the term for f....ng up the lyrics?? Thanks there's a lot of them
For anyone thinking the mellow thighed chick lyric is wrong, I'm pretty sure it is mellow thighed chick because I have this song on Rock Band and if you choose vocals as your instrument, the words are displayed on screen. It says mellow thighed chick. Do you think Rock Band would have paid money for the rights to use this song in their game, have dealings with David Bowie or his management or whoever and stuff up the lyrics??? Don't think so!
that's what was good with analogue, you couldn't always precisely determine the word being sung, i.e. anything sung by mick jagger played on records - not CDs, so i, like the rest of us happily sang along with our mondegreen version.
8 track.........1978....a pull off a left handed smoke, a trip to the cemetery to see the moon shine off the headstones......Myrtle Hill in Ohio.......too cool
look alright you crispy heads i were just commenting my personal opinion i dont need you to go through the list of bands this sounds like to you as well, and yeah, rest in piece innit.
Nearly 50 years until now I thought Bowie was saying that "This mellow Black Chick just put my spine outta place" wow I've been so wrong all these years...lol
@2:30 Who thinks of Heart - Crazy On You (another great classic) when they hear this riff? And that Heart ripped Bowie (the true classic) off...no matter which song came out first?

"just a country boy looking to make good?" whoever wrote this is a goofball hack.
David Bowie had some awesome music and this is forever an instant classic.

@@elizabethharris8907probably when it says in the album "he was the Nazz, with God-given ass." 🎉 Maybe listen to the album, it's top 30 for sure.

underrated comment
Oh, wham, blam, thank you, man!
RIP David and thanks for the GREAT Music!
+David Schaffer It's actually "Wham bam, thank you," but the lyrics here are inaccurate.
+Elizabeth Harris "oh, wham, bam, thank you, ma'am!"
Don't thank me, thank David Bowie!
My X husband used to sing this to me when he was in the Dreaded Nun band..lol
I know every single word and love it.
RIP 💖TWB💖
We KOOL hope they didn't cut to much off. LOL
I live and breathe this song in Driver: Parallel Lines and 76.
sounds like he's singing "I'm back FROM Suffragete City". *shrugs* no biggie, love this song
+Valeri Beers Sounds like because HE WAS singing that. It's a recording in play-back, you know. :-) It actually is a biggie. Whether you love this song or not, these things are important.
Yeah that's what I thought!
I also thought he said "Don't lean on me man because YOU can't afford a ticket back from suffragette city,
"This mellow black chick just put my spine out of place." Bowie...the best.
+Patrick Ford
Awwwwwwwww
Wham! Bam! Thank-you Ma'am!
This mellow thighted chick 👍
Mellow thighted
"These Mellow Fat Chicks" just put my spine....
"I don't own David Bowie" Lol
+relja cabarkapa I know. Funny.
+lindsayblaz1 Why so funny? Actually I DO own David Bowie.
+Ken Snakeler Maybe you meant that you owe David Bowie not own.
+Ken Snakeler You own "David Bowie" the album, is that what you mean?
relja cabarkapa lol
I used to think he said:
"Don't lean on me man, 'cause I can't afford the chicken"
THE musical genius of an era that will never be repeated. Neither the genius nor the era.
This is the first Bowie song I heard back in 1973. It seems like a lot of conversations back then started with "Hey man..." Rockin song then and now.
Such a talented man gone too soon. RIP David Bowie
2017's a great time to be both a Bowie and a Marvel fan.
There is no addendum! You made me feel like a Rock N' Roll Star! Thank you Mr Bowie!
agreed
Rest in Peace great artist.
New York in '78 was the coolest place on the planet...
+Timothy Little You have the results of an independent survey from '78 which confirm that summation of yours? Far cough!
It's from Driver: Parallel Lines. 1st line of the game
Oh, I see. It is fiction then -- pure escapism!
+Elizabeth Harris yep. a textbook case of escapism
Well, there you go! But you know what they say about escapism: No matter where you go, there you are.
Speeding through New York with the police on your tail as this is playing is one of the defining moments in playing Driver: Parallel Lines.
Kevin Traberg miss that game :(
David Bowie was a performance artist pioneer! Not to mention a great musician and vocalist. Can't believe Ziggy Stardust is really gone...
David Bowie had many great songs..this l think was my favorite one. RIP D BOW🎸🎹🎵🎤🎼
RIP David Bowie
just how good is this....
One of the most talented artist PERIOD!!!

FOR THE LONGEST TIME I THOUGHT HE WAS SAYING "THE SMELL OF THAT CHICK JUST PUT MY SPINE OUTTA PLACE" oh my god
YA BOY PICO Thats ok I was saying "You aint got time for chicken"
That's silly, I hear it now
+Krysta Murphy lol

Looooooooooovvvvvveeee this song - thanks for taking the time bud 👍

I had no idea this song played at the end of "Aunt Fanny's Tour of Booty" from "Robots". Lol!
great upload. The volume is perfect.
Listened to David Bowie stuff as it came out, from from day 1. Great influence on me as a musician and songwriter,
Sounds more like "back FROM Suffragette City" instead of "back ON Suffragette City".
One of his all time greats. She's quite alright my suffragette.
I've discovered this is a great workout song...I just finished listening to this song and singing along as I'm pedaling on the exer-cycle! :D
Sopa en el cine

What?!!! No Bowie! You've gotta be kidding me. When I was growing up we had about 8 of em'! Always one of my faves.

Woah. This is just AMAZING!!!❤💛💙💚💜❤💛💙💚💜
Believe me or not, but this song got me a bonus point in a litterature test.
I wanna hear this story.
my favorite Bowie song
friggin brilliant he was. BRILLIANT i say
I like this song it's awesome
Very Beatles-esque riff combined with Bowies lyrics and vocals make this a very cool track indeed.
+Chiggson I was thinking the riff was Montrose-esque. A la Bad Motor Scooter
A very Ramones-esque ditty sung by The Coolest Man To Walk The Earth.
I'm talking about David Bowie.
Rest In Peace David.
look alright you crispy heads i were just commenting my personal opinion i dont need you to go through the list of bands this sounds like to you as well, and yeah, rest in piece innit.
I found about Bowie two years ago and I was emotional when he died
Ever a brilliant knock-out song from David Bowie.
I love this song so much I heard it from the movie new York minute
He said he's David frickin Bowie, only he didn't say frickin
He said the word, the queen mother of dirty words, the f dash dash dash word.
WHAM BAM - THANK you MA'AM!
A Hooker's FAVORITE type of customer/John!!!
Nearly 50 years until now I thought Bowie was saying that "This mellow Black Chick just put my spine outta place" wow I've been so wrong all these years...lol
I was sure it was "That Belogradchik....."
You don't?
Ahh, I thought you own David Bowie. Dang it.
My thoughts excatly, I was gonna buy one.
@2:30 Who thinks of Heart - Crazy On You (another great classic) when they hear this riff? And that Heart ripped Bowie (the true classic) off...no matter which song came out first?

Wow, it's "Hey Man" from Disney Adult the Musical!
I didn't know this song, before he died, but I'm glad I do now!

I am no geography major but *where* is that city located on the map?
David Bowie. ThankYou~
Where can I buy/rent a mellowed thigh chick?
Javed Singh p p p p pervert
Absolutely!!! But I believe he's(Mr B) is referring to some transexual drug dealer! It's not what I had in mind! I really did have an idea of a mellow thigh chick who put my spine out of place. Nevertheless, the concept is comparable and so it is perverse in some certain terms....
