Mounted police clash with revellers in London as thousands join St George’s Day gathering

- Footage taken this afternoon (April 23) shows the Met Police clashing with St George’s Day revellers who had gathered in Central London to celebrate England’s national day. Police horses and mounted officers were sent in to quell the scene after the Met put in a cordon to prevent marchers walking up Whitehall towards Trafalgar Square.
The Met Police later issued a statement on the disorder, saying: “There is an area allocated for this event in Richmond Terrace. This group went past it and continued up Whitehall. When officers formed a cordon and asked the group to turn round, they reacted by violently forcing their way through. Mounted officers intervened with horses to restore the cordon.” There were a total of six arrests throughout the day, according to the police.

No, it was not a March, but a group of people making their way to a designated area to show solidarity, but people walking from mainline stations to meet up, become a sort of march, with all the bonhomie that the English excel at. Peaceful and cheerful at being together. No troublemakers, unless you count trying to dodge a police horse that is being used to push you about. .

Let's see now. The area allocated was South Whitehall but wasn't blocked when people arrived. However, transport links were at the Northern end of Whitehall ( Trafalgar sq) So crowds dispersing in that direction were deliberately blocked. I wonder why! 🤔

Yes, they had to prove their narrative that this was full of 'far right' and 'football supporters' (not sure when that became a criminal offence). You see the film from the police side (that the MSM shows) and it looks like they're fighting off some terrible violence. From the crowd side you see it is a completely different story. In fairness I think this is the failing of the Foreign Office for not advising the English not to travel to England, and for the English to leave England as soon as possible. They should avoid causing any distress by not being openly English in England. Travel to a safe country like Iran may well be appropriate.

Also, I'm neither isreali or palestine supporter. Both of those are identified as political protests. But St George's Day is a religious and historical celebration.
