In 2006, I worked with IDW to try and unravel the copyright issues around Zoids. They were sold on the early works of Grant Morrison and Simon Furman. I found myself in contact with the likes of Des Skinn, John Tomlinson and Dave Hine to see where this would lead. Several months of investigations led to Tomy and Marvel US and the sad news that due to the sheer complexity of who owns what (nobody really knows), this strip is unlikely to ever be collected. So look after the original comics, that's all there will ever be.
Hello, Ian? I could see that being the proverbial tangled web. It was apparent to me as I started my Zoids delve that whilst Marvel was publishing, the toy line was clearly licensing some of that material to other companies - see for example the read-along story book. Marvel UK would have needed a licence as a minimum to be able to publish the comics whilst Tomy would have had rights in the designs of the Zoids themselves. Interestingly even if you commission something, you don't necessarily own it. Someone somewhere must have a copy of the agreement that set the whole strip running. Have you reached out to Fuman and Senior at all, they're much easier to reach now - both on Twitter...
I wonder how many grant Morrison fans who love him for all his cool DC stuff realise he started off on this toy tie in comic..... when you read his zoids strips , you can see how dark his stuff was and how he was trying to build a larger story but sadly it was cancelled before it had a chance to play out
@@thecollector75 Lol yeah. Maybe they knew Silverman couldn't be controlled? Where if you take out the Mindrider you can take control of the Zoid. Usually.

I still can never understand why people on earth wanted the zoids when they created silverman who seemed way more powerful than the zoids lol
