I love these documentaries. It is extremely important to remember, so we dont make the same mistakes. It is sad though that there are still people thinking communism is still a good ideology. When I tell people communists regimes killed more people, they dont believe me.

My friends tease me about being obsessed by the Third Reich. But each new book or documentary contains new reveals, like Leo Lania. And new stuff to read: I just ordered Mary Fulbrook's book "A History of Germany 1918 - 2014: The Divided Nation."
If you’ve not read them yet , Eric Johnson’s book on the Gestapo in Krefeld & Cologne & Daniel Jonah Goldhagen’s much contested work on the einsatzgruppen are invaluable.

It is full to bursting with the all the prose that he originally employed for his doctoral thesis. And it reads as such. Painfully & awkwardly. It could easily have been half its length, or even less. For Himmler ? David Irving & / or Peter Padfield are both magnificent. Irving is, of course, personsa non grata. But his works on ( for example ) Rommel & the Hungarian rising of 1956 are beautifully written.
